ATLP J-Pipe Dyno

No way was that car falling, steel beam going across the forks of the skytrack along the frame of the car and only the frame.....just like a normal lift.....no crushing fuel lines...etc...,,,
That machine can lift more than twice the weight of the car and I'll trust it over a floor jack or weak ramps from autozone anyday. Yes it was unorthodox, doesn't mean I didn't take steps to make it safe, no less safe then using floorjacks, etc..but more safe. Thanks for the concern anyways guys....but I got it done and I'm fine.

Quiet, Rika Neenja!
I like it, I wish I still had that email with the pix of the rednecks that jacked a car up with beer bottles or whatever it would be funny right now! (not breaking your balls)

OK. I put my ATLP j-pipe on as well as my J-shift race pipe a few days ago. So far I would say that I have noticed a slight difference in exhaust tone. Also there is definately a good bit more power on the top end. I have a 5AT TL-S with stage 3 exhaust mod and stock cat-back. My opinion is that it seems to be a descent bang for your buck performance-wise for the TL. Also the j-pipe itself is almost a work of art. It is extremely well made and I would highly recommend it! Strong work Mike!! Thanks for a wonderful product!

First impression on ALTP Jipe + test pipe:
Wow the car feels effortless to achieve 40mph. I was constantly staying at 1.5k rpm. I have yet to bring it on the freeway to show its true potential. Sound wise, I don't notice any change. I confirm it is true that it pulls like another car.
Mad props to Mike for making us such a great product

finally! race pipe installed!!!
First off, thank you Mike, for your insanely quick turn-around time for deliveries; I swear I ordered this thing late last monday, and it showed up at my door on wednesday!
Installed it this past weekend, so now here's my current setup;
eshift pros-->ATLP j-pipe-->ATLP race pipe-->greddy evoII caback w/ Aero AR25 resonator
After the resonator, I noticed a slight drop in cabin noise and drone...but not too much.
Like Petedapitbull said, adding the test pipe created an exotic gurggle sound and the drone was reduced even more. I'm sure the pressure drop this pipe creates, offsets any pressure rise created by the resonator. No increase in rasp, either. I love my setup now, cuz the drone was starting to annoy me. now it's pure sex!
I say if anyone is still looking to reduce drone and in-cab noise on their greddy system, AR25 resonator and Mike's race pipe are the way to go. Thanks Mike!

Notice how the J-pipe is so close to the rubber mat on the right (on the pic).
I wonder if this would melt it over time. Its actually almost touching on my car, I had to bend the mat a little (with a hammer) to avoid being too close to the hot pipe.
Mike, are you aware of this?

Here is the link to the pics that I took during the install:
http://waynesfoto.smugmug.com/gallery/5470976_eWhZG
It has a picture of my 3rd Procat, and another pic showing the low clearance from the j-pipe with the rubber mat.
No biggie, overall the install was smooth, took 30 mins to do the install.
For the gains... I can just tell you that I think this is the best bang for the buck mod Ive done so far
Got a question: why are the bolt holders on the test pipe slanted? (check out the pic) was it designed to be not horizontal to the ground?

Safety Car
Another option. Take that panel off. Those panels are not really needed IMHO. All of those panels under the engine bay are taken off of my '06 TL. To me, having no panels will allow the engine bay to get some fresh air circulation, which is something that poor engine bay (aka, oven) REALLY needs.

exhaust soot and smell?
Anyone notice any extra black soot forming inside the exhaust tips and stronger smell of combustion fumes after test pipe install? I've had my evoII's for a while already and they've been pretty clean inside the tips, until I recently installed the test pipe and went in for an oil change, then they blackened up and I started getting the stonger exhaust smell after I stop or park. can this be normal for deleting the third cat?

J Pipe Review and why you need to reset ECU
My Car: 2007 TL-S w/ AEM Intake and Underdrive Pulley
Just installed this today and at first, I was a little disappointed. On my first drive, I noticed that the engine had "empty revs" like it would rev, but the power wasn't there. The stock pipe felt like it made more power.
THEN...I got home and realized I forgot to reset the ECU. I disconnected the ground on the battery and proceeded to cook dinner. For dinner I had...j/k I reconnected the battery and warmed it up for 5mins. I drive off slowly and immediately felt more torque at the low revs. I drive it a little harder and WOW, it feels great. I get to a stop light alone and give it WOT. HOLY S##T, its like a different car. In no time, I was at 70MPH.
Cliffs: This is a great mod and it makes power you can feel. It doesn't make your exhaust any louder inside. Don't forget to reset the ECU.
Anyone else notice that the intake doesn't sound as loud when you're 1/4 on the throttle in a high gear?

Just got mine installed last week. Pulls significantly better esp. low to mid. I've got aspec suspension and haven't had an issues with it hitting. I'd say you're probably fine with a 1" drop.
Nice work Mike ... now we just need the ATLP base catback.
