Post Pics Of Your Trunks (Systems)
Order a box from kicker. They make nice ass boxes directly to specs for the subs. Just like mine. I have my kickers in a kicker ported box. Very nicely made as well. Also when I had my L5's had a kicker box and they are so nice
A prefab tuned in the mid 40s would sound like shit on music
I'm pushing the issue with the Mrs about letting me use the gear I want for my next install. Wish I had the $$ for Tru, but the DLS is right up there if you ask me.
My Dyns.... or at least what you can see of them. The mids were just removed and put back in so I took a picture before I did the final fit. They do fit perfectly and the color match looks perfect to the eye but it came out a little mis matched on the camera. The 7" mid basses are in the doors, obviously not visible.

What you can't see is the 5.25" center channel. Just ordered a Massive Audio 6.5" slim line to go in there to replace the current one. Should add a lot to the center stage.
Inside shot, no visible sub:

And now, the ugly, the unfinished Tempest X IB sub. Sounds great, looks like crap. This portion has been in the "temporary" stage since January when I rigged up the IB setup in about an hour just until my AE IB15s got here in what I thought would be a couple weeks. Here it is nearly 5 months later still half finished with the foam drippings and saw dust present .I just threw the carpet in loosely for the picture and to hide some of the wiring. I have all new trunk carpeting ready once I get the final install done. I really hate posting pictures of my stuff looking this bad but with any luck I'll have the completed pictures up in a month or so.
Here's the sub before I made it ugly... Crazy low end down to 20hz effortlessly yet with a good punch for rock and country.

There are very few amps that compare with these.
its a Bazooka BT1024DVC with an Alpine 500 watt amp and a power acoustik crossover.
I'm not shaking homes or buildings driving down the street but its enough bass to make my mirrors shake.
not to mention,...that sub has out lived all my cars so far.
Bazooka does have self powered tubes but those suck.
The one I have requires an amp. Plus, its a dual voice coil so its a bit more powerful than a single coil sub.
Plus, the weight i save even compared to a single Kicker S10L5 in a sealed box.
Are you considering a system?

Can you honestly say that with a 15" IB set up that your bass is tight and responsive?I can't imagine that it would sound goo at all.No disrespect, but I'm puzzled as to why you would go with this type of sub set up?

IB gives the best of all worlds. It's tighter than the sealed box, more accurate, and goes much lower all the while requiring less power. For SQ this is the ultimate setup. It has low end impact like no other but the bass is very detailed even on rock. It's "quicker" than the other setups, less group delay. The 15 has the punch of a 10".

Your right about IB's ability to play lower, but your wrong about the power=output benefits and SQ(there's actually more delay). IB setups require more power to play louder, and they are not nearly as responsive as typical sealed applications.Pretty much common knowledge for audiophiles, but in case you were wondering.....

IB setups require far less power than a sealed box for the same output especially on the low end. I would love to see a sub with more output watt for watt than my IB15s. I'm not looking for a debate here, it's settled already but you have some research to do.
^^^ Agree. Illmo... Try doing some actual research before reading what a few put and taking it as gospel. IB setups are very efficient and usually product some of the best sq available in car audio...period.
Lol...no argument, do what you like. I just think its funny when people state things as "fact" when they're not the status quo in the field. SQ and "IB" do not belong in the same sentence. "Build a baffle"?You cant be serious....Mounting a sub on a raggedy board(ie your pics) and building a box(sealed or tuned) are two different things. You can possibly think that an IB set up requires MORE difficulty?Really?Stop it...
