Currently two 8" subs. The 5.1 amp is located in the tire well. This is all going to get fiberglassed once it cools down outside and I am going to remove the 8's and put in 2 10's.

Thank you both.

I have done all the work myself and not quite sure how I want to do the 10's. Hopefully if it cools down outside, I can start to work on it somemore. I am also going to be replacing my door speakers again as well as the tweeters (Polk momo seperates). Everything but the 3 1/2" will be Polk MOMO.

Thats going to sound great! I'm in the process of getting my fiberglass box put in. I have an appointment in a week to get it all done. Can't wait! I have the Infinity Basslink installed right now, but I want a 12" to pick up and the lower freq's.

Yeah Josh at JML does insane/crazy jobs there. I have personally riden and sat in that car to appreicate the system that is in there. It is probably one of the crazyest sounding systems I have ever heard. If you can you should hitt him up for a system he definately does good work. And you should see it now, its way totally different, redesigned alot of stuff on that car.

Sounds great! Quite a bit more bass than the Basslink I had in previously. After some tweeking I have it to exactly where I want it. I couldn't get it here with the Basslink.

Nice install... I like where the amp is mounted. How did you mount the wood piece to the rear deck?

I could get the vote for most boring install but it does the job nicely. 2 12W6s with an Infinity digital Beta 300 amp pushing 1,000 watts. This was before I got the box to fit all the way up against the rear seats. The wiring is cleaned up now.

Do you have an aftermarket battery or capacitor to help with that kind of power delivery?

I would need a bit more detail on what you are running in order to help out with that question.

Very nice and clean install. It left you lots of trunk space too. Good idea to place the amp up and out of the way.

Agreed! Really nice install.. I am just imagining being on my back, leaning over the truck catch, trying to wire that thing up.... the pain... the pain

That looks great! Totally stealth, clean and simple. Very nice job especially because you did it all yourself. I still don't understand why people pay these high prices shops charge to do installs when you can do it yourself and have the satisfaction... Nice work.

I've got an Optima but just one battery. No cap. I don't turn it up often but I have thought of borrowing a friend's cap just to see if it makes a difference. I haven't seen a dimming of interior lights when the bass hits so I think I'm ok. The amp delivers a true 1,000 watts but it is extremely efficient, going off of memory, I think nearly 90% of the input power is turned into speaker output. The amp stays very cool no matter how hard I push it. With my old amp and about the same output, the lights dimmed pretty bad when pushing it.

The bass amp is a very old Infinity Beta Digital 300. I think it's from the 1990s and the sound quality is awesome and it puts out every bit of it's rated output. I was looking for a better SQ amp and a friend had this amp still in the box that he never installed when his car got stolen.

Highs are powered from the JL Audio 6 channel A6450 amp.

Old Skool car audio FTW! You can't beat the 90's products from brands like RF, Kicker, Orion, Lanzar, MMATS, Esoteric Audio, PPI, Zapco, and US Amps. There are several others but these are my top favorites. If I absolutely had to choose it would be a tie between RF, Orion, and PPI.

I have 1200 watt Lansar AMP (2 channels only using 1) with a 12" pioneer sub...

Ive seen less watts and the same sub with a lot more kick to it...I feel like i should just replace my entire system...new amp new sub and rewire.

Drilled straight up through the deck, long bolts holding it up

I agree. I like the sound of some of the old stuff. This amp just has a "different" type of bass than a lot of the new stuff. It hits harder, deeper, and louder. I was a little worried about my W6s at first but they're pretty tough speakers.

I lucked out with my friend having this amp. Back in the 90s I made $6.00 an hour so I couldn't afford anything but food and gas.

Most of the above listed were made here in the good ol' USA. Unfortunately, out of all those only RF and US Amps are still made here in America. JL's amps are made in Korea or Taiwan, and alot of other companies are sourced from out of country also. I miss the military grade circuitry from the Orion amps.

Yup, I still have 2 of the 225 HCCA Orion amps. They are not working though

How does it sound by the way? I like how you idea of putting the amp on top.. is that how the original owner had it? if I ever do mine, probably i'll just follow your idea or my other idea would be putting the amp next to (more inside toward cabin) of the enclosure... If you have time, can you post more close up picture of the amp rack on top?

did you do your own installation? of if not how much you pay to have all that installed?

thx

I did the setup myself with some help building the proper box from one of the installers at my uncles sound shop. I made all the panels which i think arent that bad considering it was my first time (could be alot better though).
The system sounds great though and consist of 2 10" W7's being pushed by a jl 1000/1.

Looks great. I personally would never mount an amp upside down. They are meant to disperse the heat by rising into the heat sinks. When it is upside down the heat all rises back into the board itself. Shorter lifespan.

Thank you. Spent 9 years work in car audio, so had a little experience. I personally love doing the work myself. This was a very basic install!

I had my shop re carpet the box and make the rack, I ran the wire and everything like that. The rack is a simple flat mdf board with carpet on it, they drilled and attached the board through the deck. I then screwed the amp on the board when the wires were ran.

I'm selling the passenger side box in the BM. I'm still debating if I should rewire the navi unit as my shop has been looking at the possibility today. If your local and interested in the box+sub or just the box pm me

They carpeted the box and made the board for $50

I ran the cable and installed the amp
