Thanks jp. Coming from you, that means a lot! as for the trunk lid... you called it right. There is so much pressure coming from the subs my trunk lid literally jumps off the body when it hits. Also, I seriously feel like my rear window is going to shatter. There's like an inch of excursion in the glass!

WDP = White Diamond Pearl. That's the color of my car. The paint in the trunk matches the exterior.

Thanks Steven. It's hard keeping up with the crazy modders on this site

Thanks Jason! Responses to your statements are in Red

This was a very difficult decision for me. I knew the seams would show, but I absolutely had to have a modular design. Every mod on my car can be removed and the car can be put back to stock within an hour. All in all, I am happier with the result than I thought I'd be.

- They should've contoured the side pods to transition better to the enclosure itself.
I totally agree with this. It was "one of those things" I had to live with. The installer (who is also a sponsor) disagreed with my suggestion. I think if I get bored of this look I'll do exactly that.

- They should've flushed mounted the drivers!!!! argh...i'm just anal as hell though.
I requested flush mounted drivers, but the body tech that was building the box quit and the guy that took over didn't get the memo. By the time I saw it, it was too late.

- now your trunk is useless... :/
I don't care. It's a show car in progress. I never put anything in my trunk. Besides, I have an MDX with a huge trunk

- those side panels are bulky especially where they meet the trunk latch finisher panel...
It does look a bit bulky, but it flows well with the entire design. In person this really is a jaw dropping setup.

- it needs the west coast flavor...the rule of 3 materials!!!
East>West! What 3 materials? We used MDF, Fiberglass and Resin.

-Jason

PS...how's you're rattle action?
There's no rattle from the modular pieces at all. However, as jp said, my trunk lid will not shut up no matter what I do! It's not terrible, but I'm a perfectionist and it's not perfect. I'm expecting my wing spoiler to fall off any day now...
In conclusion, I'm VERY happy with the way it looks and sounds. For what I paid, I would recommend this setup to anyone that wants serious sound with a moderate budget.

I'm adding some subtle accent lighting in a few inconspicuous places over the next few days, and my "video additions" are just about done. Picture thread coming soon.

I plan on entering her in the Seminole Hard Rock car show next Sunday. Wish me luck!

+1. But then how the hell do you get the box out!!!! Hah. (I ran into a very similar problem that halted my design).

Trew, very nice install. A little too much wdp fiberglass in the trunk for me, but it looks amazing. Is it sealed? I read another member's post saying it does sound great. That and looks are really the two important things that you seem to have accomplished. Great job.

something that its in the progress, I havent been driving the tl as much as i though since my accord is up and running strong so im moving slow but this is what im working on. Its a 10w7 inverted low tune ported with a aero port up in the direction of the factory sub cut out. Sounds pretty nice just gotta finish the side panels and tune some more with the 3sixty.2. Still got the dealer tags but had to start on the system.

Hey JML...I saw this a couple years back on the Zapco forum, have always liked it. I think Bing may have contacted you about the sub enclosures, he said they were a lot more work then he anticipated when putting them in my car. The only think I don't like is the HU in the cupholders. The install looks great, I just use those things too much I've followed your work for a couple years, love your style and creativity, great stuff

Ipod Connection on Aux 1

I prefer Aux 1 over the ipod because i have over 25 gigs of music and the scrolling is much faster this way. Plus i get album art and i can still change tracks via the stereo and the steering wheel. by the way sorry for such large images, i tried to resize them but the didn't seem to want to shrink.

Non Navi to Navi

this is my solution for a Navigation TL. This actually works easier, and i can use it while on driving. I love the look of the navi, but the capabilities of garmin are far superior. Plus it's 3,000 cheaper.

2 RF P3 12's Bassworks sealed enclosure

I'm still working on the box for the best power without sacraficing trunk space. So far i have this. Two 500 RMS 12" Fosgate P3's for a total of 1000 RMS watts....now that's power!! The only problem is that i need a vented box to release it all into the car. But for now, it hits great.

I completely Agree

I have had bass in every car i have owned. when i got the TL, my first reaction was, "sh.., i can't change out the radio." But i knew i could still add bass. Well after seeing this page i realized that an aftermarket in dash is possible. So that is my next venture....that and a Four-channel amp. Speaking of which, is it just mine, or does everybody's Rear speakers sound very very low? I placed some Infinity's in their and it's still the same.

crazyjr79...love the aux port in between the heated seat switches! I had the same idea to place my JL Audio cleansweep switch there. I wasn't sure if there would be enough room for the switch but your pic pretty much answers that question. Nice job!

Yeah i had to keep my wife in mind...she has a Zune....shhhhh!! don't tell anyone. i used to have a wire tucked inside my center console, but it got irritating when i'd open the door and it popped out like a clown's trick soda can. to re-assure your assumption, yes there is room back there, but it is very, very, narrow. In the back, the switches are a bit wider. Notice i am dead center? well that was no accident. it's nearly impossible to lean to any side without disturbing the seatwarmers. good luck on your venture.

Do you happen to have the template for going across the back of the car where the box is? Side to side? I am not very good at the cardboard thing. Thank you for any help you can give.
