They make a great sub. You get good SQ and it goes pretty loud. Not an all out SQ or SPL sub (W6 and W7) but they do a great job of both.

Everyone has their own personal choice. What I think sounds good may not sound good to someone else. I have never really cared for JL. They make a good product, but I just don't care for the sound. I have been around car audio for some time and have heard and run a lot of different brands. I personally like small sealed boxes, gives a tighter and more accurate bass response.

Slotted or ported boxes are just too sloppy for the way I like to listen to music. To each his own!

Bang for the buck money wise, the Polk MOMO C500.1 amp is a great amp! Had two of them and loved the amount of power the produced. The sound was great.

Someone mentioned the old Orions, talk about beasts! The other sweet amps from the 90's were the Blade amps! All digital!

Using JL Audio is like using an exotic sportscar. There are cars that are faster, handle better, accelerate more quickly and cost a ton less. People still buy the exotics because they have a badass reputation, and are quite the status symbol.

Similarly, there are products that sound better, get louder, produce more wattage, are more reliable, and cheaper than JL, but people go with JL because of its reputation, and the fact that having JL is balla.

Not exactly. I prefer the sound of the W6 in a sealed box over everything else I've listened to. It doesn't just play a one note rap song well, it's pretty much flawless all the way up. It's one of the few that actually sound ok crossed over at 100+hz not that you would want to do that but it has a great range. There are some that get louder, some that sound better, but few that combine the two.

For me, I personally like the sound and the fact that they get loud too is just a bonus. Going by your logic, we all should have bought Accords instead of TLs.

Very nicely done

I saw your picture awhile back and loved this setup, but I just needed a little more space than what this provided. Golf clubs are big, and I drive to the course with 3 friends/bags

Thanks! I have a friend that's purposely staying away from JL because they're too trendy lol. I wish I could remember the sub he's getting but it supposedly goes louder than the equivilent W6 and has great SQ. I want to say ID Max (sp).... but not sure.

Agreed! I did what I did because I needed to retain as much space in my trunk as possible. Golf bag, bat bag, suitcases, etc. Did not want to eat up all the space with a sub box. But not everyone needs the space, when I was younger I didn't, as I am getting old and have to use my car for other things now, I need the room. Also, I am going to be a daddy! So I need to keep room in the trunk for baby stuff.

Would you compare them to the W6 or W7?

I would easily compare them to JL subs. Its kind of weird that not a lot of people know about them, but Image Dynamics makes high quality audio products. They go really loud but sound very crisp and clear. When I get to putting together my new system I'm having 1000/1 powering each of the two. They handle it pretty well and trust me they sound amazing.

Thanks lembowski and Chico. I drive usually drive alone to the course, so I only have to worry about myself. Suitcases aren't a problem either unless the GF is with me.

That would be me. I love the old skool Orion stuff. I spent so much money in high school on the XTR amps and subs. I never did have the money for the NT series though.

Blade did make some insane amps. I personally liked the Esoteric Audio stuff also. My buddy has 4 of them sitting in his room and he won't sell em' to me. Their worth more sentimental value than anything.

When Diamond Audio first introduced themselves they were soooo bad. the original Hex series were the best sounding components of the 90's.

Last was the original Eclipse decks when they were introduced were awesome. Everyone was so into the de-face idea that when they came out with the ESN network people thought it was a great idea. Just my but I am a hardcore caraudio lover and I wish (along with many others) still wish they put the time, money, and quality into products like they did in the 90's.

makes me do this
1. Is that a 12" woofer?

2. What is the brand of enclosure you are using, and what are the dimensions (length, width, depth)?

3. How much cubic feet do you have inside the enclosure (volume)?

I made my box. See my Custom Audio Install post. See this post for custom TL enclosures that are similar to mine... https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=358676&page=2

How could I miss this post?! It is so nice to see all these pictures of fellow TL owners' sound system, which gives me some ideas to steal....

Sorry for being off topic. I just have to say ORION ROCKS! I remember the 12" Orion NT Carbon Fiber Lifetime Warranty sub I had. Remember those HCCAs 1FastVtec?

I replaced my truck (got written off) in the above picture with the TL. Lucky I could take my sound system back, which has 2 Orion HCCA250s pushing a HCCA12" (each pushing its own 2ohm coil... it is redundant but hey, got an extra amp sitting around, why not?) and a U-dimension 4x50 pushing 2 sets of HCCA 6.5s.... Man this sound system just kicks butts!

I leased my TL and am itching to install the sound system back in the TL........... I cannot imagine how good the system will sound with such a smooth ride. But figured i probably will do it if i keep the 3G, which means I have to buy back the lease (which is not a difficult decision to make after the 4G came out... flamesuit on....)

Anyway, thanks for all the pictures guys! It just gets me excited when i see the system setup of the others.

Peace.

you can't really compare the 2. the w7 is the closest thing you will get to a drum. the ID Max doesn't even come close
