Nope, this is a super easy mod and took about 15 minutes for all the lights to be swapped out (minus the vanity and trunk lights) Again, I will re-iterate that it looks fuqing sweet and is bright as heck, but it is very HARSH on the eyes... the bulbs were much softer and comfortable. But i wouldn't hesitate to do this mod again.

Is there a concensus on which models to put in the doors and which in the domes? (in terms of brand and 6 vs 9 vs 12 leds)

Does anyone know of any local places in orange county to get these LEDs? Or should I just go through a vendor? How much price wise should I expect for doors and domes?

thanks for anyone with info!

I don't think there's a consensus, just preference. One thing I noticed is that the 6 led from v-leds was great for the back seat domes as they face straight down. In the front seat and trunk, I went with the 5 led towers as those 6 leds would face toward the back of the car and not shine much light down. That being said, the 5 led towers are pretty bright for that spot. I also used 6 leds in the doors and they are great.

I did all the interior lights in white, switchback LEDs for the front, and did the amber 48 SMT towers for the rear turn signals. Looks pretty cool.

Be careful if you order those 48 SMT towers, they come 2 in a package. I didn't realize this and now I have two extra Amber towers. I'll put them up for sale in the BM most likely.

Led's reduce current draw. Highly unlikely.

I blew a fuse during *installation* of LED's, but thats because I was a dumbass and touched the socket with a metal object.

Same one too, IRRC, #6.

i blew one installing the light up door sills...all you have to do is buy some cheap fuses and you're back in business...just be careful making a short in the circuit..that's what blows it (don't hit something metal)

I didn't do the backup lights cause I recall someone noting that the SMT Towers actually provided less light than the regular bulbs.

I think the light output may be slightly lower, however the look is sooooo much better and they are still very visible. Instead of a yellowish output you get a pure white output. I love it. Besides I have CCFL License plate lights and they put out a bunch of light as well. I have wendy's camera and no problems with the backup lights since the install.

Yea, i know that it looks so much better in the rear when everything is white, but I just didn't want to not be able to see much after droping $35 on the leds. I think CCFL is freaking sweet man, its super bright, but for other reasons I prefer my License plate lights to not be so bright, so i actually installed the 4 LED wedge bulbs back there, which is still pretty bright.

I'm considering doing 1 blue LED bulb near the passenger and driver side footwell, someone did it on their TSX here and it gave it a nice glow that matches the instrument panel, its not that bright and looked just right.

I finally installed the 6led circuit board leds in my license plate... dremeled the lens holder and hot glued em on... Very bright and very tight...

Those oznium pods are a great option for footwell lighting. I put old school 3 led pods in my footwells (cheap). Looks great, not too much...

Dang dude, hook up the pictures on the LED circuit boards, i actually did what you did just to see how it looked, i put the 6 LED flank boards into the license plate bulbs by just reversing the plug and lettting it sit there and it was damn bright! light up the ground and everything.

What are Oznium pods?

Yeah, I think those led boards are brighter than the CCFLs because they focus 6 leds downward directly... I like them, will probably stick with these for a while.

jptl04, me, and a few other hacked up thier front sidemarkers to install these oznium pods, so we could run white side markers... (search that if you like)

But these would be perfect for footwell lightin (in blue if that's what like)... I'm thinking about replacing my cheapo pods with these.

here is the link to the other post that has pics of how the new lighting improves the rear camera visibility...this convinced me to get the reverse lights and license plate lights that the user mentioned (VegasRHp)

i just put in reverse lights recommended by VegasRHp and they work awesome...they give much more light for the rear camera...also put in his license plate kit and that gives much more light on the plate. installed the trunk light (multi socket recommended by Kennedy) and it provides tons more light for the trunk as well!! thanks to everyone for posting about LEDs!

Do these 48-SMT work for the front turn signals? http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

Also how do I select 7443 instead of 7440? autolumination has a drop-down box to select but I don't see any way to specify 7443 or 7440 at v-leds unless I'm blind....

i used a bunch of those supernova LEDs from autolumination for the domes and license plate as well as some in my friends car. i've had 3 blow already (well, just not turn on anymore), all of which were in the license plate (two from mine, 1 from my friends). two of them blew within the first day they were installed (they were working when i installed them). what do you guys think could be causing this? defective LEDs or some kinda stress somehow (i always close my trunk gently, so anything electrical)? the rest of both of our cars is completely stock and problem-free. its really annoying.

Watch out!

Autolumination/Superlumination says their LED bulbs are not able to work in cars as direct replacements. Rather, you need to cut your existing wires and buy some LED protectors to put in line with every circuit you have LED bulbs installed.

In other words, the lights they sell cannot stand up to the electrical systems in cars today without modification.

Further, they refuse to replace any of the lights they sell that burn out in cars that have not been modified with their protectors.

Basically, if you want an LED that can be a direct replacement and will last more than a month, I would recommend going somewhere else.

Wow that's total BS... but have you checked to make sure that the contacts are still there, i remember reading somewhere else, that the sockets loosened up and they weren't making contact.

yeah i looked. the last two i installed burned out within one day of installing them (different cars even). with the lights turned on, i wiggled them in the socket and pulled them in and out and didnt even get a flicker of light. i tried them in different places too in case the sockets were bad, but everything i tried worked except the bulbs themselves. they still look to be in perfect condition and felt pretty solid when they were in. i'm just confused by the terrible life of the LEDs, they should last forever. i was looking at other sites and they mention all of their lights have current-limiting resistive circuits built in, so maybe these are just lacking that and dont have the minimum protection they need to last in any non-lab-bench application (hence the need to install the extra component in line with the circuit, external to the LED housing). i assume i'm far from alone with the bad bulbs (my failure rate is 27% with this company) and hope they figure out whatever is wrong or they wont survive much longer.

Will these work for the front turn singles rather than the ones mentioned in post 7? Will they fit without having to cut the housing?
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...d/0/SFV/32481#

Also what colour bulbs should be used for the rear turn signals red or white?

Thanks

Are the interior plastics easy to pop out?

Is it any different on a 2009 tsx? (in terms of how to pop out the plastic and the type of white led's needed)

(I am aware this is a 3G thread, but after going through dozens of search threads i figured this is the best place for me to post this... if a mod feels like it isn't, please delete asap)

Snug fit leds?

Are the license plate LEDs you guys are using fitting snug like the OEM bulbs? I ordered some from V-LEDS and it fits but not snug. I'm afraid it'll fall out later.

Any brand have a really snug fit like the OEM ones?

I would think they are the same, since wedge type bulbs (194/196) are commonly used n the interior and these are both acuras, but this is just my opinion.

In regards to the LP lights and snug fits, mine wasn't tight like the interior lights but ti didnt feel like it was going to slip out or anything.

yeah i thought they would be 194 bulbs..but i checked out the 2008 tsx bulbs on sylvania's website and they were not, so its really a toss up of whats used in the 09.

Dark Knight - its probably easiest to pull out the ones u have in there now and see which are used. you call also try the TSX part of this site

Just ordered 4 dome bulbs and 2 door bulbs, in blue, from superbrightleds.

4 WLED-xHP6 Blue WLED-BHP6
2 921-x12 Wedge Base LED Blue 921-B12

I'll try and post pics when I get them installed. Hope the blue looks good... I really like the blue lights on my TL base dash.
