+1 on the vanity lights. those were a pain. just before you get them off, it will seem as if they're about to break. freaked me out.

Sorry fellas...it wasn't until last night that I decided to clear my headlights, which drove me to this thread for turn signal replacements, which led me this morning to want to change the rears too...I posted within minutes of finding the code.

Looking to install LEDs in the trunk, vanity, and glove box (is there a light? I forget).

Can someone confirm that these will work?

Trunk 1x - http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

Vanity 2x - http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

Glove box 1x - ?

If there are options that work better or look better, please, don't hold back!

Thanks

^ I did but there seems to be a lot of going back and forth between different types of LEDs. After 5 pages, I was hoping there would be more of a consensus.

well i recommend the SMT Towers (the same as Kennedy recommended) for the vanity and the trunk. I have these in mine - both give good output. The trunk is hard to light up, but if you really want to light it up then look into installing a LED strip

I posted this in another LED thread but didn't get a response so I'm gonna ask it here. Anyone replace the high mount brake light with LED's? The Sylvania cross reference says it is an assembly so I didn't even mess with it, but if just the bulbs can be done, it might be worth it.

Also, the trunk light cover is pretty tight, so I haven't replaced it yet as I've been afraid of breaking it. Does it simply pry off like the other covers? I've done the rest of the interior and love it!

DO NOT GET THOSE TRUNK LED's, the LED's are polarized and can only fit in one way, there is a good chance that these will not work facing downwards on one of the sides. I bought a set of them, and I couldn't use them anywhere but the courtesy lights because they only worked in the domes if they were facing upwards and same with the license plate lights. I would go with the 11 LED SMT towers, they are really bright. Also, they have the 36 tower SMT LEDs for the same price as the 18.

That's why those 5 LED towers that Kennedy suggested on page 1 are a better fit for the trunk and vanities. They are not limited to one side. What am I missing??

I'll update the main thread soon...
Damn this LED technology moves fast. I'm constantly changing my LEDS out. Here the latest.

All LEDS are polarized. If the flank LEDs don't orient the correct way, it's trivial to swap the wiring around to the flank led orient downward.

Post 7 of this thread is still current, it's good to see you guys looking for the next best thing... but I've tested most of what's out there... Feel free to waste money testing others, but I'm the king of doing that.

Updates:

The 1 and 6 led flanks would be PERFECT for the trunk and vanity mirrors. I'm going to order a set for myself actually. The 6 flank seems ideal. Lots of light, but hopefully not too bright...

The flank leds won't work in the trunk. The bulb is oriented in such a way that the 90 degree flank is no good. It would point back into the trunk cavern instead of downward.

I ended up installing these in the trunk (as I reccomended on page 1):
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

I dremmeled the inside of lens clips off and hot glued them in place. These are the brightest I've tested so far... and probably won;t be changing these out anytime soon.

Kennedy,

The problem with the Flank bulbs I bought and the ones JMKIANG had linked are that they are not the wires, but actual plug ins, so there is no way to swap the wires around.

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

I was too cheap to get the ones you had suggested cause wre just too pricey at $13 a piece.

But i was trying not to waste money while not spending too much as well... But don't know how successful I was with that....

You misunderstood my response.
I have those flank bulbs on my Honda Civic. On one side the bulb was "inverted" (pointed the wrong direction) because the bulb only illuminated when inserted one way (polarized as you said). I swapped the wires TO THE CONNECTOR... problem solved...

You can extract them and reinsert them if you know how, or just cut the wires and reattach them... if you need to.

for the front turn signals - switchbacks..normally white (when headlights are on) and then flash amber when the turn signal is on. the rear turn signals are red and the license plate are white

here are some LEDs that some G35driver.com members like. I personally have V-LEDs.com LEDs and are 100% satisfied with them but the Polarg LEDs look really nice. Anyways just thought I would share with the TL community.

Has anybody swapped out these two lights with white, or is it illegal? I think cleared healdlights with swithback turn signals plus whites on the side would look pretty sweet.

^ requires chopping the sidemarker open and soldering... or replacing the entire module.

See "jptl04"... he has a post on it.

Some contoversy on the switchbacks "stalling" as in some have reported they take 25-30 seconds to switch between white running lights and yellow flashers. I have them, but haven't tried. I prefer the yellow.

Dunno.
Supposedly when you hit the blinker, they would not flash for 15 seconds or so. Maybe they just had a bad set...

Are you talking about switchbacks stalling in the sidemarkers, or in the headlight turns? I was going to go switchbacks in the turns, and just bright white in the sides. I know some people were trying to make their side markers blink too. Maybe it doesn't matter, but I thought there was an extra step to make that happen.

Found jptl04's thread, looks like you guys burned through a lot of lights!

I just installed my 4 dome / 2 door lights.

It gives the car a whole new look and feel to it .. especially when it's night time

I paid $41.70 shipped for 6 bulbs .. kind of high if you ask me.

You can't argue with results though.

I'd get in touch with them. I've ordered from them twice since then and received both shipments. The parts may be backordered, but they should let you know.

I bought them through ebay and not direct through their site... I remembe reading somewhere that they kind of ship slower then their website purchases.

I finally have my LED's in. I went with red interior (except for vanity). Also changed out the license plate and rear turns. I have to change the front turns, vanities, and reverse lights.

Very easy mod, took me roughly 5 minutes to do the interior, and 10 minutes to change the rear (and license plates).

Only note of caution, be careful where you put the things you remove from the trunk liner. I lost one black clip.
