Four years ago, I installed the following LED lights in my new TL:

Doors: 2 X 6LED Blue WLED-B6 (194)
Domes: 4 X 4LED White WLED-W4 (194)

...which I bought from superbrightleds.com .

I noticed a few weeks ago that the blues on the driver's door were working intermittently and the passenger door not at all.

One of the front domes was out and the other was flickering. One of the back domes was out also.

I replaced the white dome lights with the OEMs that I had saved. I had a spare, new blue LED so I put that in the passenger door and it worked fine.

I did some work on the driver's door bulb and got it to work. The tangs in the socket were bent (from the factory).

Interestingly, the leds don't go out all at once. You can lose or or two on the same bulb and they just get dimmer.

Also noted: the fuse you will blow screwing around with these sockets is #6, brown, 7.5 Amp. It is on the bottom row next to the yellow 20Amp fuse. You can buy a 6 pack of them for about $2 at a parts store. They are ATM type mini fuses.

And, when you blow that fuse, it also disables the remote key fob. The lock switch will still work on the door, but the remote won't.

Or, you could remove the fuse before you start. Just changing the bulbs out should not blow the fuse.

But they're f'ing pricey. These would be great in the trunk and license plate lenses as well.

So I got these and WOW what a tight fit.

How the hell do you get the vanity covers off?

I do not understand how you put these panels inside the fixtures? Do they just sit on the plastic cover?

The gold framing holds the led in the trunk light. But I haven't gotten the vanity covers open yet.

i got the same exact leds for my trunk as well. I gave up trying to mount it inside the plastic cover so i used the double sided tape provided (green piece peels off) and stuck it outside of the cover and MAN these suckers are BRIGHT! Entire trunk, not an inch of dark spot, its like opening your trunk and looking in with a flood light

question to those with led turn signals: How fast does it blink compared to the stock? I take it the stock turn signals flashes every second? How many flashes does the leds do in a second?

Almost triple the speed on the blinking.

No you don't have to take off the plate assembly. Just take the carpet off the inside of the trunk lid.

Also, the supernovas that kennedy mentions on the first page: One has already gone out on me. Less then a month.

Where did you buy it from? The site you linked seems to be a distributor and not a retailer.

i liked it so much that i even changed out the interior bulbs on my sister's RDX

still have to install the switchbacks..im just waiting to order some Noyka H8 3000K for my fogs and some 6000k for my HIDs...getting my tint done on Monday so probably finish the LED mod at the end of the month

I just finished mine. Interior and exterior (except for directionals, glovebox and center console), and I have to first of all say thanks to Kennedy and others who posted the info. I love the look!

Two things I would change if I had to do it over again (and probably will change at some point)

-The door lights seem to be a little less 'super white' than the interior (almost a yellow white hue) but close enough that it doesn't bother me TOO much. The ones for the vanity fit well, and provide the same color as the rest of the interior.

-I would also try for a little bit brighter license plate bulb, but for those who don't want it too bright, these will be fine.

As an FYI: if you are buying the reverse lights from v-leds like I did, take notice that the package contains two bulbs. I bought 2 two packs DOH!

Reading through, would the SMT 6 LED board from v-LEDS be better? for the dome lights or you guys think I should just stick to the WLED-WHP for super bright LEDs?

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

I'm looking for a nice white light as well as functionality cause I do want to be able to find things in th dark and possibly use the light to read something if I needed to.

i have the WLED-WHP in the domes/map lights and they are plenty bright. If you can't find what you are looking for with that amount of light you may want to get your eyes checked.

Oneclu - As for something not as bright..the ones that are recommended in this thread do not seem as bright as the ones that sixsixfour used in his car..but i have not seen his in person so i cannot make a direct comparison.

Playa, i want the same brightness as sixsixfour but w/o paying that hefty price tag of $20/ for a pair of lights. I know he swapped to some much brighter LED's recently, but his older setup was the kind of brightness I wanted.

Do you ahve any pictures of the WLED-WHP brightness in the cars?

THanks for trying dude, I think I may just go with the V-LED boards since they are almost the same price as the super brights.

Hey Kennedy/LED guru's,

Has anyone heard or experienced problems with the license plate LED sockets blowing LED bulbs or requiring load resistors within the circuit. I think I just had a bad/defective LED bulb set, but just curious.

Just the opposite; the 18 SMT reverse LEDs are not as bright as the stock bulbs. But since I could hardly see anything with the stock bulbs anyway, I just left them in.

KF, Wow... that sucks... i wanted to make my reverse lights brighter but if the LED's are nto as bright... I might not change them then since its going to cost me $35 to replace it... I know V-LEDs has the new 36 M-SMT led's... do you think they may be brighter?

excuse my ignorance, but how hard is it to swap out all the lights?

In addition, I'm out of town . . . do you only need 1 bulb per side? i.e. how many bulbs to order for each replacement?

its pretty easy..you'll find that the vanity lights are hardest because its just a pain to remove the lens - once you figure out how to do it, pretty easy. there are several threads on how to replace the bulbs just check the garage and do a quick search

not sure what you're referring to with the 1 bulb per side, but its a direct 1 to 1 replacement. 1 bulb is replaced with 1 LED light (some house multiple LEDs, but its just one "bulb" for lack of a better word).

By 1 blub per side what I'm trying to get to is. . . how many bulbs do I order for the rear of the car, how many for the interior, how many for the door sills, etc.

I installed all my V-LED's over the weekend and I realized I made a bunch of mistakes....cause I didn't read carefully and I didn't check out all the bulbs i was going to replace.

Mistake - The M-SMT 6 LED boards did not work properly because I didn't read where it says "Polarity sensitive". I was going to use these for the front interior dome lights...but only the driver side worked properly, the passenger side, only worked when I plugged it facing up, which was jsut retarded!!!

DO NOT GET THESE - http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

I ended up using these boards on the courtesy lights at the door.
My only saving grace was that I picked up these for the courtesy lights, so I just kind of used the downward facing LED's at the door and the SMT towers for the dome lights.
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

These things are fricking awesome and super bright!!!

If I could do it all over again, I would have just purchased 3 sets ( each order has 2 bulbs) of the 11 M-SMT towers, 2 for the doors, 2 for the front domes and 2 for the back domes. These things are bright as heck.

Now this was purely for aesthetic looks, if you want to make the interior brighter for looking for things or easier reading...there isn't that much of a difference, the regular halogen bulbs are actually much softer on the eyes and more comfortable to read or have them on...but these LED's just look sweet!

For the license plate LED's, I got these
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481
they aren't that bright on the plates due to these being directional LED's. Which is fine for me, since I didn't want to light up my plates too brightly....for other reasons.

If you want the plate to be lit up super bright I Would suggest the downward facing board (these ma work http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481).

Will post pictures later tonigth when I am at home.

I am at work now so I apologize if my sentences are incoherent in the post above.
