Hey guys what LED viewing angle is best for dome lights? The 194 WLEDx4 that I'm looking at on superbrightleds can either be 32 degrees or 90 degrees. Thanks in advance.

For the domes, you should go with panels, esp in the front. The sockets point toward the back of the car, so the wedge bulbs will only project a portion of the viewing angle anyway. The panels allow all of the light to project down into the cabin.

Thumbs up

This and the other threads have been incredibly useful in getting a handle on my up and coming LED conversion. Many thanks to all that have posted.

One question that I only saw mentioned once in this thread and its predecessor:

My 2004 TL 5AT with navi is black on the outside and camel on the inside. Every picture I saw had either a black or ebony interior so the recommended LED setup looked nothing short of amazing.

The problem now is that I read it once that white LEDs for camel interiors would look awful because it makes it all look washed out and boring.

I would absolutely love to get white LEDs for the cabin and door lights, but I need some second opinions before I just buy the standard batch.

Any recommendations?

Better yet, are there any pictures of people that have done this conversion with a camel interior? There's no way that every one of the thousands of people that did this conversion had a non-camel interior.

Lastly, this is pretty elementary, but for the dome panel lights (like this one: http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...-p5168719.html), are these just plug-and-play or is there something beyond that which I need to do? I'm looking to have this be as simple as possible.

Muchas gracias, amigos.

Understand that the camel is a canvas, moreso than the darker colors. Choose what you want wisely. For instance, if you don't want an overly bright light, reduce the number of LEDs in the light. If you want color, the camel is basically a white canvas. Decide what color you want to go with and do it. Buy just one or two of any given choice to see how it looks. You'll get it just the way you want it.

Be nice to see post #7 updated with more current and functional links that maybe aren't ebay-related...

This is a great thread, but the focus jumps around so much it's difficult to keep up...

Goin for the reverse and license plate to start...

Links:
Reverse Lights

License plate

Hope to hell I'm goin down the right road here... I'm sure someone will lemme know otherwise..

Side-questions - I'd like to change the front turn signals (04 TL) - I don't have cleared fronts, and don't intend to, so any video of switchbacks behind the amber lenses, and/or video of just white flashing behind amber?

Also, I want to do the sidemarkers (front) and don't want them white when running; I presume you can do them in only amber and then wire up the relays to do an on/off in conjunction w/the signal?

Finally - anyone have a vid link for the rear turn signals as LEDs?

Great thread - thx.

Thanks for trying to help, but I have read all of those threads and none of them talk about replacing the bulbs for the Radio Buttons

If I am missing something, please give me a link to the exact thread that you are referencing.

Yeah, we did.
Right now, there are two prevailing methods:
1) Completed by madsiick-https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=761223-replacing all of the OEM bulbs on the radio faceplate with resistors and LED bulbs.
2) Completed by DeathMetal-https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=769497-custom fabrication of a circuit board to overlay the OEM circuit board. Tap power from the harness. It uses PLCC LEDs with chip type resistors. I believe DM may be selling these, but I'm not sure.
I have one of DM's boards, but have yet to install it.

With all of that said, if you are talking about replacing the OEM lights in the radio with other OEM lights, I think that would much more of a pain in the ass than slapping a new circuit board in and calling it a day. Another advantage of LEDs are custom colors and brighter illumination.

i just installed LEDs from superbrightleds.com changed out the 2 map lights, 2 dome lights, 2 license plate lights, 2 door lights, and trunk light. I used the high powered wedge base bulb.

Now you guys are thinking, "haha he must be dumb cuz the wedge base bulbs dont project the light correctly so the high powered LEDs must not be bright at all"

Well I took a solder and extended the LED wires and angled it 90 degrees so it DOES point straight down correctly....let there be light....

Ok, one of my turn signale bulbs just went out. I'm going to replace them with LED ones. Can someone post some pics and tell their experience with the ones they have?

I was thinking of getting the SMT Tower V from http://autolumination.com/7443_7440.htm

Also, will these fit in the trunk? http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...-p5168709.html

Has anybody got any leds from JLC lighting? I just talked to Jack from JLC and he said that we can do a GB from them.
They have the Type 1 switchback white/amber leds and also Cree Led reverse bulbs.

those are only 6 bulbs for 30 bucks, that's about $5 a bulb. ontop of that, our TL uses more than 6 led bulbs

driver door + pass. door = 2
driver visor + pass. visor = 2
driver side map light + pass. side map light = 2
rear passengers = 2
trunk = 1
license plates = 2

that's 11 leds you need of type 194.

than if you want, the center console (where your right elbow usually rests when your driving) there is a light in there. that can be swapped out for a LED also.

your glove box has one in the top right corner when you pull it down also.

the bulb type for that is 74, and you will need 2 total. 1 for glove compartment 1 for center console

honestly i would go for v-leds since their bulbs are really bright. i used to use superbrightleds cause the price and shipping was good, but recently switched to v-leds and honestly i don't think i'll be buying from superbrightleds anymore. the bulbs from v-leds are easily 2-3 as bright but for $7.99 a pair (you get 2) which makes it $4/a bulb. note that these are high quality leds, and they are actually called "smd" bulbs. really bright for sure.

super bright leds were about ~$3.50 for natural white, and even then it still looked like it had a hint of blue. the 5k whites from v-leds are BRIGHT and WHITE!

also superbrightleds has "SMD" bulbs also, but theirs costs $10/EACH for the ones available in natural white.

if you're fine with cool blue they have SMD cool blues for $5/EACH, but i would say go for v-leds.

These:

http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED-B...26829-1-2.html

BTW, I've purchased several of the 194-WLED wedge bulbs from superbrightleds.com in the past and ALL of them have either gotten significantly dimmer over time or they burned out completely. I started buying from VLEDS and haven't had a single problem with any of their bulbs. FYI...

Also, it's a total waste to spend extra money for the flank/panel LED's for the dome lights. The normal-shaped LED bulbs work perfectly fine. There's a chrome reflector around the bulb socket so any/all the light shines down into the cabin.

Here's what I have:
