Just reading the press release for the NSX, twin turbo V6, 9 speed DCT. Didn't see any HP or Torgue numbers tho...I hear $160K for it...I'll get Godzilla before that...or M5.

Yup, no specs. So, in other words, another vaporcar IMO.

Seriously frustrating how Honda is being so vague about the numbers of the engine. SPILL IT, geez.

They said it's +550hp and puts a spanking on the GT-R, M5 and Model-S

I think it's vague because they're still getting the tune right. Nothing about the engine management, even with three electric motors, is a bigger challenge than making sure you don't pop a rod or trash the trans on launch. They're talking big about the launch control too.

Define spanking (and not towards you). Again, what's with this vagueness?

FWIW, I hope you're right. I'm sick and tired of waiting on the NSX, to be honest.

The reveal today showed the exterior is gorgeous. But, as I said in the thread, half-baked because technical details were left out...usually, I would not care so much about that but people have been waiting on the return of this car for YEARS. Concepts have been teased repeatedly.

GIVE US FREAKING SPECS.

It better put a spanking on the GT-R and the M5, it's $60K more. Plus, can't a Tesla Model-S be had for ~$80K full equipped?

Edit: Nvm, S60. Durrr. $100K for a Model S. So still $60K more than it.

I want to love the new NSX, I really do. But, don't try to get me excited on yet another great-looking car with no specs.

So stupid. Anyhow, I'm good. Gonna go stare at some robot pics.

Yeah that. Still, NSX priced at $160K isn't competitive in terms of pricing, let's see if it's competitive in terms of performance or fun. Otherwise it's just going to be known as that car that everybody waited for but didn't hit hard enough.

Acura knows what they have to be able to compete with already. So, if they drop the ball, especially at $160k, then sales will be shitty. And, it's their own damn fault.

I don't think anyone will be disappointed with the specs when they release them though.

550ish HP is the the vague number they gave. No torque numbers...nor weight. So, it depends.

If their benchmark is the 911...well, this car better not be very heavy or the German car will be doing circles around the Honda.

I remember as a kid how much I wished I could own an NSX when "I grew up". One of my dad's friend who's since been put in jail due to counterfeiting money had one. I always thought it was the epitome of the japanese sports car even though it borrowed much of its style from the italians.

I wonder what car the kids are dreaming of as of now.

Didn't expect anything more than what we got - we can only hope it offers the same fun-to-drive factor the OG NSX did when it first hit the scene. Only issue is the competition now is a LOT tougher than it was way back then.

You cheeky amber lover. Always liked Spa Yello for some reason. Feels very summer-like, just like Imola.

Eh, never really liked the looks of the RSX so it's hard for me to appreciate the color. At least on that car.

I do love that orange. So nice. I also liked the facelifted RSX. So rare. For every 25 original RSXs I see, I see one updated one. Sales must have dropped big time near the end.

:pb:

M5 and Model-S are full-size sedans. It's only used as a comparo in terms of straight line performance. It's real competition is among other performance MRs like 458 and R8 V10.

It's competitive with the R8 V10 pricing and much below the 458. But I do think they would have done better for sales if it was priced just below the R8 V10.. even if the numbers come back better than the 458 and R8 V10.

I rove the GT-R.. butt.. no. 2014 GT-R official number is 3.0s and 2015 Nismo edition is 2.9s. Maybe can shave a couple tenths but 2.0 s flat is still a dream. I believe that quote was the mark that engineers we're shooting for.

Considering the NSX has 100 eHP at the front wheels, another +50 eHP at the rear plus TTV6.. It should get off the line fairly quick. Throw in high spool launch + DCT. I have confidence the NSX will be at par with the GT-R.

That's not "spanking" the GT-R though...as you said. Plus that is cheating using the E motors...LOL.

Drag racing is our only goal in that scenario?

I'm sorry...the NSX will take the looks department all day long. At some point, driving your kids to school or going to work, you realize all that HP is wasted.

It was Blaze Orange Metallic, Jus. I almost got Jade Green Metallic, but I wanted a loud color. Betty says when she met me and I pulled up in that car...she figured I didn't get hugged enough as a kid.
