Repetition is very important, you can do it a thousand times, still wouldn't be enough. You can always improve but it should be meaningful. Minor bullshit is just bullshit. 2 degrees isn't going to keep you from getting your ass kicked. Shotokan focuses on timing and position. Really minimal stand up but it's effective when applied properly (e.g. Machida). If you think your base is good, you should try judo or bjj to round out your game. Aikido and hapkido are also good but you will focus on joint manipulation and redirection which is very good but the application in real world fighting is only at the lowest or highest level (either the guy you apply it to doesn't know shit or you're the best at it and can apply it to anyone). Krav maga is for seminars imo, (kick him in the balls, kick him in the knee, poke his eye, jab his throat, don't get stabbed). You can also try some mixed style martial arts like gongkwon yusul or sambo.. both excellent choices if you want a bit of BJJ / Judo and striking.

I practice several martial arts.

Google
Mostly thinking about rounding out everything. Shotokan is mostly striking with very little close encounters. The philosophy is to strike them as early as possible to always keep them far from you, it took me long enough to not act like I was boxing. Plus you never go to the floor, if you're down you pretty much want to get up as early as possible.
I think bjj/judo could be beneficial. Not that's I'm looking to get into MMA or anything of the sort, but having grappling, throwing and ground fighting would be nice. Sambo would be alright, but I feel like judo or bjj would do better with my more "traditional" ways.

Krav maga is very effective, but not so much as a sport to practice as you noted. Pretty much focuses on getting out of a fight as quickly as possible (and that's good in real world situations) but makes for somewhat boring/lethal sparring against your friends...

Practice several martial arts? Such as?

Shoot, I have the strongest immune system ever since I implemented the 25 second rule.

Seriously, I'm like iron stomach and germ guy at work...they all go, have J smell/taste it before throwing it out. I keep pelting my immune system with touching everything and not washing my hands constantly!

I've never been very sick, 3 years ago I went to the clinic and got prescribed antibiotics for a sinusitis (first one hurts the most ha) and when I went to my local drugstore she asked me if I had an account. I gave her my address and phone number and she found out I didn't have any medication whatsoever in 13 years. I wasn't lying when I said I wasn't sick.

I usually get 2 small colds a year, once when fall/winter starts, another when spring starts. That said since last year I must have been sick freaking 10 times, I'm getting fed up with it. Not sure where it's coming from.

I hate being sick... used to get a sinus infection every year around my birthday, usually sometime in October. The past few years it's not been an issue. I hate taking medication and try to just tough things out as I don't want to build up an immunity to meds in case I really need 'em later.

Fortunately, my immune system seems pretty strong.

Unfortunately, I'm a habitual nail-biter (any tips to stop?) and I think that puts me at a higher risk than some.

Feel better, J!

Most sinus infections are viral so you can go through without antibiotics.

As for nail biting I used to rip mine to shreds until it bled, and then some more. I got a girlfriend at some point who was really touchy and liked to grab hands whenever humanly possible and she didn't enjoy the messed up nails. I told her I'd stop for her, and for some reason that was enough motivation to stop right there after doing it for years... No trick nothing, just be more aware of what you're doing and stop yourself.

My mom used to bite her nails when she was younger too, my dad would slap her hand anytime she'd bring it to her mouth. Was fixed in like a month, getting slapped over and over gets annoying I believe.

Some people suggest clear nail polish or these product that makes you nail taste like shit. Not sure how well it works, but worth a try since they're pretty cheap.

LOL let's not go there. Current GF has an oral fixation (not so bad... right ) and she has to bring any type of soft fabric to her lips for some reason.

You can bet your ass I'm wearing the softest boxers known to man.

I agree. There's some super good smoke houses here in town, however,

A) I don't have a smoker

B) I don't have 10 hours to sit around watching the smoker

C) the slow cooker makes damn good ribs in a pinch. Try it before you knock it.

Yeah, getting sick am the suck. I've taken a dosage of Claritin when I've been downed by a virus and it has helped deal with the symptoms...does a nice job of clearing up the sinuses and helps with coughing (due to post-nasal drip).

Anyhow, FYI.

I guarantee you he has...which is probably why he knows it's better.

I actually have a friend that swears by smoking...he has a remote temperature sensor that's linked to an app on his phone...he sets an alarm at 4am...checks, back to sleep...hovering around 200 for 16 hours and they're supposedly the best ribs ever. He says he's got it down to a science, knows exactly what holes to cover, when and doesn't have to babysit it the entire time.

I will admit...a good piece of smoked meat goes down my throat so well...

Don't worry everything I order gets shipped at work and I keep her locked up.

She doesn't live with me right now, my apartment is too far from Montreal for her (20 minutes drive) and most of the jobs are in Montreal. She doesn't drive and doesn't want to drive so she has to bus and metro, living together would save money (that I could put towards an A-spec!!!! ) but I'd need to move further from my job or she would need to move further from hers, so it would somewhat negate the benefits. Don't want to take 30+ minutes every morning to go to work when I've been spoiled by taking 10 minutes, and apartments in Montreal are more expensive and parking is terrible. When it snows in Montreal everything is shit, here it takes me 12 minutes instead of 10 to get to work...

Sounds like this relationship is headed in the right direction! An actual physical rendition of inability to compromise!

I wouldn't be shocked if in 10 years, we all chat on here and you're married to someone else. Maybe Jake!

Yeah I wish I could smoke my own stuff and make some freaking jerky. That's like one of my stupid "guy dream". My girlfriend thinks I'm a bit crazy.

Also I am not hitting the gym in this condition, don't worry. I've done it a few times while sick and you get the worst cold sweats ever.

Yeah you know you're gonna get better in a few days, all those medication do is help deal with the symptoms and make these days not so shitty. Currently using phenol spray and benzocaine lozenge to numb my throat down. 400mg Ibuprofen evey 6 hours and 300mg of penicillin every 6 hours too. My desk looks like a drugstore.

I use a slow cooker all the time.. but when you've had really good ribs, nothing compares.. I'm not talking about something that is easily reproduced in your own smoker. It's not just about the smoke.

You're an ass

I am able to compromise and so is she, but we don't really see the advantage right now.
She doesn't speak French very much (Montreal is 50/50 French/English) so it's difficult for her to move out of it since other towns around are majorly French speaking. Once she does, she'll open up tons of possibilities regarding jobs opportunities and she can either move in with me or we can move somewhere else than her tiny apartment and something less expensive than in the city.

Either way, as nice as everything sounds, there's other underlying issues regarding her personality such as her negativism that are hard for me to ignore and also I want kids and she doesn't... Last thing I want is for me to force someone to have kids just because she loves me or for my kids to end up with a disabused mom who didn't want them.

Feel better Justin...lots of fluids, flood that shit out...If its the Flu get an Rx for Tamiflu, ASAP...only works if you get it within 48 hrs of first symptoms. Will significantly shorten the duration and severity of the symptoms. I know...my wife is in the biness.
