Did you change pistons man? I know the -S engine already packs some pretty decent compression sans turbo. Cant wait to check it out when you get everything all buttoned up. Gonna give me a good excuse for a little road trip!
thanks. whistle? are you talking about because of the turbo? it shouldn't really make any noise as it's just sitting there at idle. i haven't given it any gas yet. waiting on the tune. although, since the o2 ports are open right now (and allowing exhaust in the engine bay haha) that sound is going to over power everything else. i mean the camera isn't the best, but the audio feed is accurate as to what it sounds like in real life haha. i'm just ready for everything to get done.

no, engine is completely stock except the light weight crank pulley. i changed the timing belt, cleaned the IM and TB. since i'll only running 5.8psi it should be safe.

once the tune is done i'll try to hit up a 502ss meet. i dunno if you are on there, but SLaMMeD_TL is on there too.

A funny thing i have noticed is that virtually every 6spd swapped 2g TL on here has gunmetal coated oem wheels. Nothing wrong with that, just think it's a funny coincidence.

you'd never guess what car they came from haha

apparently this guy bought the car with these wheels on them and i knew that he would get rid of them, so i called dibs months ago, so he finally bought new rims and sold these to me for $150. they need some TLC, but great fucking steal.

They actually look pretty nice on the Solara. I kind of liked the Solara when it first came out. Its a shame they were so painfully slow.

my most recent purchase.

04-05 TL wheels. cleaned them up so i can keep them in the house till i do the refinishing and buy some rubber for them.

GENUINE Honda/Enkei, not that ebay replica shit that bends.

not bad for only paying $150

thanks. the tuner talked to me, he is trying to find how many teeth are on the upper cam sensor triggers. we can't find it in the service manual. he said the lower triggers with the crank sensor so that's good to go.

thanks,

like sensor wise (the magnets)?
haha i dunno man. the tuner had told me that he's "having a hard time figuring out how many teeth are on the upper cam sensor triggers" word for word. he's hooking up a haltech platinum sport 2000 standalone engine management. i only understand enough to do engine swaps, when you get into deeper stuff like tuning i get lost.

ps. quick response haha.
sensor goes off magnets not teeth on the cam gear. i believe there are 3 or 4 magnets. i want to say 4
cool. i relayed that information to the tuner. hopefully that's what he needs to know. thanks!

normally the sensors themselves are magnetic, then it just picks up the little teeth on the back of the cam gear (subie's have magnetic teeth, but then again they are embbeded in a plastic cam gear though), because those little bumps interup the magnetic field as they pass by the sensor when the engine is revving, and the ecu picks up on that

as far as how many are on the gear itself idk, but i figure like 6 though (one for each tdc of a piston, then like 3 for the other sensor, so it knows what cylinder to fire exactly, but i may be completely wrong though idk

maybe post a picture of the backside of the cam gear rajca

lets just say i been dealing with a intermittant crank sensor code all day on a POS chevy blazer, and come to find out the motor is fucked, with a bottom end knock, and a bent crankshaft (of course hitting the crank sensor too , causing the whole issue)

We got magnets. I'm pretty sure 4 maybe 3 of them on the cam gear. And one sensor behind it. If he takes off the cover he will see the magnets. I got no pics on me of my cls-6 cam gear. The automatics cam gear is a bit diff. Not sure if it has an extra magnet or placed differently

if indeed they are magnets they are more there to increase the strength of the signal itself, the pattern will basically be the same just stronger

so part of the reason why a picture is worth a thousand words (then he can just foward the picture to the tuner), also don't forget to indicate where the number 1 spoke is (where it is punched in, so he knows where it is)
