what's the deal? why wouldn't it fit the 6spd?
too short, cause the manual dont have the vsa throttle body, so the intake's have to be longer to cover that extra distance

ah ok, since the a2 has come from a 2003 TL, it'll end up fitting?

i was wondering why it wouldn't fit if it was just the transmission haha.

and no the tranny does not really matter as far as the intake system, it was the additional options that matter as to what intake is needed

if you reuse the VSA tb (that extra one you see on the S's) then yes it will fit, but if you delete it (which you should if you don't plan on using it) then you will need the manual intake system (but a spacer pipe, with some couplers would works also to delete that tb)

noooo i meant p2r intake lol

they make 6 speed intakes, you just have to do some cutting where it goes into the fender area to make it fit (i dont have a vsa tb)

yeah, i figured might as well, since i'll be doing timing belt here soon (my brother and i attempted to do it on sunday, but we didn't have air tools with us at the time and couldn't get the crank pulley off ) i went ahead and bought this pulley so when we put the timing belt back on, we can put the pulley back on.

now i'm waiting on my injen cai, and my yokohama avid v4s should be in tommorrow or friday.

pulley is easy enough to change out, as long as you can get the crank pulley bolt off, should just slide right off and back on with no more then a little wiggle

and btw those tires are not very good in the snow , could be better, but not horrible though; cause they are what i got on mine

stock size for me too, but S wheels so 17"s

but yeah for that price they are not too bad, and they seem to wearing quite good also on mine (but i don't know how many alignments i have done though ; like 3-4 in the last 6 months (let's see: one was for gf hitting a curb in the snow, next one was cause someone sandwitched me between the curb and their car [only got fender and front door, and suspension, and wheels ], then the last one was because i just got the ingall's upper arms in the front, so had to set those, o.. and the first one was that the previous owner had, had it done like a month before i bought it

and there is somewhere around 10 k on them, with rotating each oil change

it's a beautiful day outside, i figured i'd snap some shots of the engine, and some work that i'm going to have to do.

it appears that they cut the harness when removing the engine, so i'm assuming i'm going to need a type s harness? cause i've only got base harnesses

where my brother and i removed the timing covers to change the belt without air tools haha that was a nogo, he's gonna bring his air gun and compressor this weekend so we can finish the job and pop the light weight crank pulley on.

throttle body is dirrrrrty. looks like i have some cleanin to do. (it's gonna have to come off when i do valve adjustment anyway.) where is this VSA TB? this TB looks almost like mine?

here some tranny shots, parts are lookin pretty rusty.

vsa throttle body is an additional one, that sticks out furthe then the normal tb, and you did not proably get it with the motor, it is geneally considered a seperate "item" from the motor itself

and about the harness, they are basically the same, just the vsa tb, and the irc is additional, and by the sounds of it you might be going with the vsa tb, so no need to worry about wiring for that, then the irc, might be easier to just run seperate wiring from the harness, and just reuse your origional harness, then trying to find a new harness
and i figure you should not really have an issue with wiring it yourself, probably did many wiring repairs on those planes

and the cutting of that harness is actually quite normal, faster to cut then actually disconnect it , but yes that one does seem like it has been cut a little more then normally, but ethier way the harness is jacked

also make sure to do a cylinder leak down test on that motor before you go any further, want to make sure it is a decent motor first, then worry about fixing it up

ah, so i don't have the VSA TB on this? that's a good thing then that's one less part i have to take care of haha.

what is the IRC?

on the contrary, i have no real wiring experience because i was just a mechanic on the plane, i worked with the engines, we had electricians to do the wiring haha.

might be the wrong acronym , but the intake runner control, that huge honking motor that is sitting on top of the rear valve cover, what that is connected to

and i guess i am use to, where you have to be able to fix basically anything, and not have specialist, especially for wiring

ah ok, i was wondering what that was. it's that thing that has another solenoid and what looks like a throttle cable attached to it? what does it do? will i need it?

needed, no but broadens up the power band quite a bit though, so i would get it working personally

also for that additional vsa tb

it's inline with the edge of the battery, were the regular tb is next to that red intake spacer
thanks hot-tub man for the pic

installed the shaft of the short shifter last night (all the other gear will go on during the rigging of the shifter cables)

the height of the shifter will probably be lower (plus the knob is pretty long to begin with) since it's sitting directly on the shifter assembly whereas we know it won't be the case when installed

here you can see where everything is adjustable. are my settings right? the lowest setting for shifter height, but the highest on the shaft to get the best leverage/throw??

update. got some misc parts in from acura, bolts, gaskets and such, had some time on my hands and put things together.

edit: i also replaced the rear main seal

flywheel is on and torqued

clutch disc

pressure plate

now i took some more detailed pics of the tranny. one thing that concerns me is this right here. on the slave cyl, it looks like the boot is torn and such. i'm sure it shouldn't be like that right? if i get a new slave cyl will it come with a new boot for the clutch release fork?

here's an undershot of the fork
