another solution for my auto CL guys
So, the 07 3.2L TL trans will physically bolt up to my 02 3.2 Type-S engine without modifications? I understand it may not function, but it actually fits on the engine?
What is "trans range switch, trans filter housing that need to be transferred"
Are those things found on my 02 5A/T? How exactly do you transfer a filter housing?
What are we making extra holes for?
If I get an Odyssey trans, can it be modified to enable SportShift mode?
Thanks.

Ok guys, just did some research thru my Acura parts dealer, mid-year in 07 they changed the block and tranny on the 07s (thanks Acura), so you have a 50/50 chance of getting a 07 TL tranny that will bolt up :rolleye:, I suggest sticking to 04-06 TL and Oddy......
and i don't see how a different tranny would block you from going into SS mode, cause all that stuff is on the shifter itself, so has nothing to do with the tranny
electronic means that nothing inside of the tranny actually moves when selecting SS (shifter is still technically in D5, just pushed to the side, so the computer know that you want SS mode)
and i don't see how a different tranny would block you from going into SS mode, cause all that stuff is on the shifter itself, so has nothing to do with the tranny

So, if the shift gate's positions are electronic, all of my 2G transmission functions will still work? (D4, D3, 2, 1) Even though the Odyssey may only have D5, D3, and L?
Any cons for putting an Odyssey transmission in over an 06 TL?
was that g37 manual???, or are you talking about a manual on a nissan??? you also gotta remember a honda has a transverse mounted engine vs a longitudial (sp?)(front to rear), so the tranny is alot closer to the shifter, so vibrations don't have to go as far
and all the positions on the shifter are not electronic only the SS mode is, everywhere else has a shifter cable that moves which is linked to the tranny

i never use the shitft gate so i couldnt even tell you. i havent even tried 1,2, d3 or d4. i jump in put it in d5 and go.
if not ......Any way to tell the difference?
That makes sense. I was told that Honda/Acura's shifters aren't directly related to the transmission. I test drove a G37 and the shifter vibrated. Someone else told me that shifters in Nissan/Infiniti go directly into the transmission.

Alright I dunno how I missed it but there are quite a few odyssey and TL transmissions around my area now... A lot of the transmissions with an A grade are about 1200-1450 or so... would I be fine with a B grade one? Of course I'm assuming the B grade only concerns the mileage and not any physical damage.
by the way out of curiosity, how are you guys transporting these transmissions out of the junkyard? Or do some yards have transportation services as well?
Either way I really dunno if I could even find a shop that would be able to install it.

Usually grade B is based soly on milage unless other wise specified where a mounting boos may have been broken off in the collision, but if you are going thru all this trouble do you really want to start out with a tranny that already has 80K+ miles???? I could see doing that if your plan is to just fix it and dump it, but if you are keeping her I would pay the extra to get the lower mile unit.

or you could rent a truck and pick it up with that if the yard is close to you.
and make sure to have a cherry picker with you when you try to move it, they are not light suckers at all, takes at least 3 people to even remotely be able to pick it up comfortably, and at least 4 would be better
and when you do get shipped a tranny from honda (an 01 odyssey tranny, so only a 4 speed) they do not want you removing the torque converter, but yes the TQ converter is a good chunk of that weight
we don't even use a jack for them at work, one person holds it against the block while the other one loosens the last bolt, then both people lift (actually drop; and it is up on a lift also) it out and set it on the ground
and only one person is needed to move it if needed
and only one person is needed to move it if needed
btw: that weight for the AT seems offley low too, i am thinking somewhere closer to 300, cause i have trouble even dragging it across a smooth concreate floor
never said exact
, i just know that it is a heavy f***er and a pain in the ass to move around, and a whole lot easier to move around with a cherry picker (also on the bad tranny, the torque converter would have at least been partially filled so add that weight in too, and the new TQ converter was proably at least partially filled too)

,but lets say 20 pounds for the pallet (i know it is not going to be a full size one ethier)(and knida hard to find an exact weight)
you are still looking at 250 pounds+ for a AT that is ready to go into a vehicle (plus the fluid weight too)
Hey guys not to go off topic but the other day I went to advance auto part the get my check engine light checked out because it was on and they said I had 6 codes all read "cylinder miss fire" 1-6. could that be because the tranny is done?
proably not, try searching for cleaning out your egr passages for the misfire codes

Some place up in Washington is selling a '05 Odyssey trans with a little over 60k miles for $1000.
