another solution for my auto CL guys
Ok guys......
Preffered would be a 04-06 oddy trans, since it is a mom mobile there is much less chance it has been beaten on and they are plentiful in the yards.
It is not completely a direct drop in there are some parts (trans range switch, trans filter housing) that need to be transferred and a couple holes that are cast into the housing need to be tapped, the bosses are there they just need to be drilled and tapped.
Triptronic is all a matter of ECU, the physical trans has nothing to do with it.

and for soccer moms, they seem to be the ones that will just drive the vehicle and ignore it till something breaks vs trying to do preventitive maintence, and fixing something before it gets major
(
,had i known i was buying my car, i would have kept the crank and rods, from the one that i did like 3 years ago [bought my car only like 3 months ago], would've been a dirt cheap stoker too; she ran it out of oil, from really over extended oil changes)
other advantage is that it was designed for a heavier vehicle too, so going to be designed that much stronger

yeah, i would almost rather have one that has been taken care of, even though it might have more WOT runs on it (or mileage), then one that was never looked after
but kinda hard to tell it's previous life with it being in a salvage yard (and proably already pulled out of the vehicle too)
checking the fluid is about all you can do, but even then when you pull the axles out of it, basically all the fluid drains out, so no really way to even check that

You would think, but not, they are all the same series tranny, only the ECU is programmed a bit different to provide slower gear engaugment to not stress it as hard.

as soon as mine goes im swapping it but I have to find someone to do it for me , which is going to be difficult but I honestly think that this is the greatest solution to the problem and the easiest and cheapest I found two or three trannys for $800 with undr 3000 miles on them

I was thinking along the lines of maybe a little grippier clutches, stiffer springs for the valves, and along that line, but yeah basically all the same tranny just modded for each vehicle

Hey NVA, trans just blew up in my 03 tl-type S, I would like to know more about the Oddy trans replacement or possibly a 6sp manual conv. My post is here, https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/time-has-come-758367/, would really like some expert advice from you and other members.
Thanks a ton!

A estimate to do this would be between $12K and $17K when all was said and done. Of course it would be the ONLY 3.7L SH-AWD 6spd CL I have heard of..........

Could be done, but one hell of alot of work and $$$$, the car would have to be converted to basically the donar vehicle including the ECU ,cluster, ABS in order to control the AWD, need the complete rear end and re-work control arms and rear subframe to mount it up and the gas tank should be fun.

Anything CAN be done, but is the cost justified? Granted it would be a uniqe one of a kind weight almost 1000lbs less than the TL......
Well I dunno, I'd do something like this if I could actually find someone who knew how to fit this onto the CL, and could do it well.
