^ I forgot that this thread was in the 2G section. So, I should had added that I am a 3G. But, the benefits of the mounts that I seen should still apply to the 2G too.

^ Yeah 3rd Gen TL's got lucky with the innovative brand mounts. They're attempt at our 2nd Gen mounts failed. But luckily we have XLR8 picking up the slack.

Thanks for co-signing my claims, coming from you that means allot. Your TL diet thread is epic. Reading it has inspired me to lighten up my car, ie: cf parts, braille battery, empty trunk, etc. Notice a difference with that too, thanks for your contributions to this site.

Btw to clarify I don't think my oem mounts were bad, I only had 60k when they came out. I was just looking for some reasons to explain the enormous improvements I'm feeling. Must be the mounts.

Yeah, I guess I'll have to miss out on the promotional deal. I need to decide if I'm going to do a 6spd swap first.

ordered my set before the promotion ended

I still need to let Josh know which durometer...im leaning more toward the 75a, I feel that those paired with the Ingalls stiffy I'm ordering within the next week or so should be fine.

Opinions would be appreciated!

That's exactly what I'm doing. My ingalls stiffy came in last week with my suspension so now I'm just waiting on these engine mounts.

Haven't been out here for a while (3 months) as my car has been down with various issues . . but not with the motor mounts.

Anyway, I'm not sure I read 100% of every post since my last time here, but I do have one question. The pictures and testing seem to only be for the manual 2nd gens. Is that correct? The reason for asking is the most of the problems we've had have been with the rear mounts for the auto trans 2nd gens. Ultimately I would like to have seen a vertical design approach as it is in keeping with the OEM design, and I'm still running the Innovative 3rd design which is vertical and it would have worked had Innovative finished the work and not blown us off.

I know Excelerate has been working long and hard on getting us something that works as I've tested every mount except for this one., so thanks for doing all that.

That said, I'd like to see a mount package offer for the 2nd gen auto trans that has just the front, side and the Ingals stiffy. It's what I'm running now and am pretty happy with it. I can say there is NO wheel hop at all, but there is some vibration, but as others have stated, with all the mods most of have we put performance over comfort. :p

I'll be checking back now and then to see how things work out so good luck . .

Ok, so go with the softer ones if you want the best ride quality. If you plan on putting down lots of power and want the max benefit for traction control then go with the stiffer ones. But I don't think you'll need them unless you are racing a lot. I've got the softer bushings in the side and front mount, stock OEM rear mount and the stiffy. Under full throttle from a standing start it'll spin the wheels nicely . . without any wheel hop at all. I used to have really bad wheel hop.

Here's all the mods I have so you have an idea of how much my set up gets tested, and they've been good enough to beat a BMW 550i - 5 times -

02 WDP TLS Black Interior w/ Black Grill Inserts & Cleared Headlights
**1/4mile 14.46 @ 96.07MPH (14.22 @ 97.69 Density Altitude Corrected);
(45-70mph test - 3.5 secs) 17x7 Konig Appeals SMF – 18.2lbs each
P225/45ZR-17 Sumitomo HRT AS P01- (just got T/A drag radials for track)
CT Icebox, Custom RamAir, CT Sways & Springs, Tokico Illumina Struts,
SP Performance Diamond Slotted Rotors, Hawk HPS brake pads, SS brake lines,
SPC adjustable front ball joints and rear control arms.
3nd Gen Innovative Motor Mounts – Front (w/black bushings) & Side Only
Bored out Intake & TBs, Mugen Cooling & Thermoblok Mods
Ceramic Coated XS Headers & Magnaflo Hiflow CAT, Custom 2.5”
CAT Back exhaust with Vibrant 1145 Mufflers,
Tranny #4 Installed 3.4.2011, Miltec-1

Note** (1/4 mile time was before ceramic headers, Hi-flow CAT, Custom 2.5” Exhaust,
Vibrant Performance Mufflers, IMMs, Full Bored out Intake & TBs; and it was not with the drag radials.) With drag radials I’m estimating it’ll run high 13s. (hoping)

Same here. My rear mount made an awesome cracking, snapping noise two days ago when I was reversing into my driveway.

hmm...I'll check my schedule. I should be free though. I'll let you know shortly.

Also, will 6spd mounts fit the auto tranny? And I only ask because I know the auto rear mount fits the 6spd tranny (even though it ends up breaking). My transmission is starting to slip...so I might end up going the 6spd route.

Ok I spoke to the fabricator. I should have the mounts in hand in 2-3 weeks. All of the mounts are being finshed up as we speak. The bushings are being manufactured and the custom XLR8 tags are being produced now also. So we are estimating shipping by the 1st or 2nd week of April. Thank you.

I was hoping for sooner. Might have to toss in the new front mount just to keep the engine kind of in one place.

yeah because it does not even bolt to the tranny anymore

so the 6-speed mount fitting on the auto, very possible, but the biggest issue see though, is that the auto might actually come too far towards the center for the 6-speed mount to be properly bolted to the block

Ah, ok.

So would there be anything wrong with only putting the passenger side and front mount on, and leaving the stock one on, if I choose to get the 6spd swap done?

you might be replacing those rear mounts more often, because the front and side are transferring more of the load to the rear one (which is not going to be up to the task of the job)

but other then that not really

I just recently filled all three new stock mounts with 60a poly. I installed the front mount first with stock side and rear with an Ingalls ETD and the vibrations were minimal and there was a definite improvement in throttle response and reduced engine movement but you could see the engine rocking back. This weekend I put in the side and rear poly filled mounts and now the car vibrates a shit load. Way too much for me to drive it everyday 70 miles round trip. Has anyone else done this? I've read thru the thread a few times (months ago) and can't remember. Anyway I'm going to take out the rear and put a stock mount back in. Anyone want a gutted 60a poly filled rear mount that's nearly brand new?

Thats odd that its vibrating that much. I went with 80A/94A along with the Stiffy and both NRG torque dampers and the vibrations werent noticeable at any rpm other then idle. Then again, it is subjective. I can live with the vibrations if it means less wheel hop.

After reading all 10 pages, I'm thinking heavily about going w/ these mounts. Being a DD and barely driven as is (I commute on my fixed gear bike to work), with mainly suspension mods I'm guessing 65A should be sufficeint? The car did come w/ a cat back exhaust...and I'm planning on getting headers and maybe a CAI...but that's about it....

Added: btw I know my front's shot, and highly likely the side...not sure about the rear. I know the front for sure is busted, as when the motor comes down it stops shortly like it's resting on a ledge then drops all the way.
