RDX Down Pipe and CAT delete!!

Finally in the making for the RDX is a down pipe that will eliminate the primary catalyic convertor and thusly increasing the power output of the engine!
The pipe will be manufactured by Jason Alper motorsports out of Las Vegas under the direction of fstcrvs here on the forum. Production, fitment and testing has begun with a projected completion time of aprox. 3 weeks from this posting.
Don (fstcrvs) will be making updates as the project progresses.

Can we merge some of these threads, or start one when a vendor actually offers this product.

I picked up flanges from vegas water jet and they look great. The bottom flange of down tube will bolt to stock second cat flange with gasket. As this will help if someone only wants one or the other. The (N A G ) factor is very high here oh that would be my girlfriend not to keen on new rdx sittring for a month to get this done.So any one who has had to put up with this will understand why i need to get done soon.Mine or the first from may be done this weekend. Thanks don

Don - is that your company that you work for or just having them make a custom downpipe for your RDX?

rdxplus is my company.Jason is the fab guy .I will be helping on all of the build for pipes. The reason i am selling at his site he is set up to do sales from his site it is just easier.Jason and i both have other jobs .This is are fun time we do this because no one else makes these parts if you look at alper motorsports.com you will see he makes all parts on his site.I have been racing for over 30 years making parts nobody makes is away of life for us Most of the time we make it because what you can buy is not as good as we can make or the ones we buy break. So if you cant buy it or it wont last build it yourself. I bought my rdx 2 months ago and started looking for the parts right away.I have been working on this for 3 weeks getting all ready. Now you see why these pipes will get done my car does not run without its exhaust.Again will post all pics here or at www.alpermotorsports.com.Hope this helps. Thanks don

Any options with a hi flow cat for the downpipe?, better than no cat if you want to keep the stink down.

I also added hondata heat shield at this time .I will post pics of this mod also. This upgrade is very easy at time of pipe install as intercooler is all ready off.All test will be done with down pipe second cat delete and hondata heat shield.I do not like doing more than one mod at a time as it gets to hard to find performance gain from single part or to look for problems. So as painfull as it may be for girlfriend.I will add hondata chip mod and air cleaner cold air box mod later after first testing. This will let me track gains a lot better. Thanks don.

And how does this work with our OBDII smog test here in NV? On my other car, the readiness monitors on the cats needs to be on or it will fail OBDII smog. On our RDX, I assume removing the primary cat will produce a CEL?

Well sin city i guess we will find out in a couple of days after i get it in and check it.I will go have it smog checked. Also can any one tell me why azzies horsepower numbers after this mod were so much differnt than churchs or pangs?I am talking about the before and after differnce.I understand the differnt dynos what i did not under stand was the smaller increase on azzies car than the other 2.Thanks don

AZZIES

https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-rdx-performance-parts-modifications-162/custom-3-catless-downpipe-midpipe-pics-dyno-733627/

Pangs

https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-rdx-performance-parts-modifications-162/built-3-downpipe-cat-deletes-682724/

AZZIES is a full pipe down to the exhaust with full deletes of both cats.. Pangs is just the first section delete.. (judging by pictures)

both are 3" though im guessing a 2.5 all the way will help with the noise and still be good for the HP increase IMO

side thought.. how much more would it be to do in titanium to save on weight? get the best of both worlds.. lightened and HP increase

Mr Church doesn't use the typical dynojet dynamometer he uses a dynapack:
http://www.dynapack.com/
which bolts to the wheel hubs, theoretically its better, gives higher readings than rollers, and a firepit for debate as rollers are typical/"the" standard.

Which reminds me, Chủrch Automotive, 2 days before atlp dp came along and announced dp plans and before you came along I was talking to church's "on-the-side" fabricator to do a 2 off, I was gonna pay 1/2 for someones dp to get it done, thanks again Don!

Pang had 36 hp and auzzie only saw a increase of 20hp the differnce in the way dynos measure is usually not that far off.imho

Well it actually there is a big difference when using a roller dyno to a hub mounted dyno . Atlp dyno there stock rdx at 179 hp and Chruch dyno at 210 hp a 31 horsepower difference .

Your variable may be fuel.!? Had a lot of ether in the gasoline in Europe but ether helps with cold weather starting. Auzzie is in Ukraine right? My guess that it's the fuel

The difference in gains would probably be from the fact that Pang was using his/a stock ECU while Azzie's was on the Hondata.

They are done

Ok guys as I said we are making improvments in fit and function. As we are going into production of these we need to make them better (easier and less time consuming to build and install). I have many pics but having trouble compressing pics to load. Some details: this pipe is a true 3 inch pipe: no neck downs. Two smooth bends/curves and one straight pipe which means only three welded pieces: no extra angles, welds, pieces .The pipe is 3 inches at turbo stays 3 inch all the way to stock exhaust. Guys our second cat delete is so open you can see end to end looking through the pipe. These pipes are 3 inches everywhere. The bends are very smooth as is overall look. We will be adding many options such as high flow second cat. For you guys with 3 inch cat back we can do 3 inch all the way out of second cat or 2.5 inch for stock hook up. The fit is awesome, the work is fantastic. I believe Jason has come up with a better design than most of the others I have seen. Ok still working on prices as the first took so long to work out minor design details. We are trying to cut production time down and build a better pipe. So give me a day or two to set prices. And yes WISPY gets first pipe out and he can tell you how they look. Thanks Don.

Ok, lets get something straight here; The re-flash for the RDX by Hondata is not 're-tunable' by anyone other than the folks at Hondata. That being said, they have already stated that they are not interested in offering a 'special' tune for other aftermarket parts (other than what was used at the time or the original flash tune)! Pang_Co had approached them on a flash for his DP and they refused!
AMS may have been referring to one of Hondatas other user tunable systems!

It is done .The car runs great .The girlfriend took the first drive. When she returned she said the little turbo gauge did not move. She thought it was broke. The turbo spool is so smooth it takes no power to start moving. This is a great mod.And no cel.We are going to be making a few changes to ease instalation. All should be ready in a few days. Thanks don

Guys i know you want pictures .My girlfriend snaped about 75 pics. The trouble is she used way to high resolution and i cant compress them enough to send.As mine is now on i will take new loadable pics when second pipe is done. This will be ok as new pipes have a few changes. The new pipes look cleaner and easier to install . I have been building race cars for over 40 years and this is one of the best upgrades i have ever seen. Now on to hondata and air box in the next few weeks .Girlfriend says she wants to drive the car for a while damn kill joy.Have a great day. Thanks don
