Yeah, thats pretty much what I wanted to know. So next time I get caught up with one, I'll know when, and when not to mess with him (or her for that matter).

There is a guy at my job with a brand new baby blue s2k. We both left at the same time today, and were playing cat and mouse down Plano Parkway and then on to Preston. We never really got to go at it though(traffic and all). But I'm sure we'll meet again.

Yeah, I haven't even ripped out the back seats to play with the dampenig rate . I'm too lazy. I'll get to it one of these days. :P

Anyone here have experience putting in brake lines? I need to put those in.

Mantis,

Let me know when you want to change the brake lines, I will help you. You can bring your ride over to my garage if you want, I have quiet a few tools. Or I can meet you over at your place. I understand it's best to have 2 to 3 people when you do this. I haven't done brakelines before, but I have changed a number of brakepads in my life. There is detailed instuctions on this, I think over on the TL forum.

Oh yeah, I plan on changing my brake lines out soon as well.
I hear it is the best real mod for your Car under $150, even better than intake.

That CL-S 6 speed ad, nice pic, but Joy Stick? Come on,
they aren't going to sell cars with that, that sounds so
damn retarded. I'm not knocking the car, just the ad,
(at least they are advertising it) My one complaint about
the car though, is that joy stick is way toooo tall, I think
who ever designed it must have a really short d**k.
Course it will be a nice easy mod to trim it down.

Damn, now who is the post whore!

You my friend are indeed a great post whore! Keep up the good work.

My garage is pretty cramped, and I don't have many tools, so the installation would probably work out better at your garage. I have the detailed instrutions around here somewhere. As long as we have a copy of those, we should be fine. As far as when I'd like to install my brake lines? I was ready 1 week ago. :P But seriously, If you already have a set incoming, I can wait till you get yours, and we can do them at the same time. Or we could do it this weekend. Just name the time. Did you find the exact Goodridge brake lines that specifically stated they would fit our car?

As much as I love the idea of a 6 speed manual, it just isn't worth it. I would wait until the re-design in 2005, but with poor CL sales, that day may never come. I'm happy with my baby.

Mantis,

I haven't found the right brake lines yet.. So I might be a couple of weeks off. I have a Volkswagen Vanagon with the engine out in one spot in my garage right now, I plan on having it out next week. So I probably don't have any more room than you do. But if you want to I can come by Saturday, after say 1pm, and bring tools.

Cool. I don't have much besides a wrench set and vice grips. Check your PM.

Hanzie,

Do you think the CAI +9hp is going to make up for the bottom
end loss of torque? More torque you loose, the more
the other guy gets ahead of you.. To bad it's not feasible
to do 1/4 track times, back to back, stock and then CAI

I haven't seen they dynos, how bad is the loss on the
bottom end?

Thanks!

Wak,
that is what i have been preaching to these guys everytime we meet. Since i got the AEM put on, i noticed that it took away from the bottom end torque. I still think its worth it though. You have to make sure you get a really good launch and get the hole shot. If you don't, it still might be salvagable, considering you will catch up, as long as you plan on going at least a 1/4 mile i would say. If you wanna post your email, i would be glad to send you the dyno sheet in full so you can look at it.

Damn Jeff, I just realized you have over 18K miles. Probably closer to 20K by now.

You've been doing some serious driving. When did you get your ride?

I've heard some guys take out their air silencer?, or something like that, from their stock intake and drop in a K&N filter. Would this set up also lower low-end torque? I may just try this (if I can find someone to tell me what an air silencer is) because I spend most of my time in the low rpms and I like that low-end torque.

Btw, anyone else having trouble with this site remembering that you're logged in? It takes me about 5 tries (if I'm lucky) to post a message or do a search. I keep having to login over and over again.

I went to DMD today to pick up the 2003 6spd book, and to check out the 6 spd. There were about 4 of them there from what I can remember, arthracite, red, white, and white again? I don't remember. They didn't have any 6 spds with navi. But the arthracite grey is fuckin' HOT.

I really didn't have time to test drive it(getting ready to go down to Lower Greenville to consume large amounts of....water). But the guy told me to come back tomorrow so I could check it out some more.

Only thing that REALLY impressed me was the fact that the RPM now goes to 9K instead of 8K. That's pretty sweet. I wonder what the fuel cutoff is now? Other little knick knacks were the clear tail lights. I like 'em.

I hope I don't get sucked in to getting one. I wonder how much I'd get for my car. He says he expects about 3 dozen 6 spds to come to David McDavid in all. And there you have it folks, a piss poor review of my 1st encounter with the 6 speed.

I'm talking about how the Top 1/3 of the tail light is now clear on the 2003 model.

Well ladies, WakAttack came over today to install the brake lines. Without going into detail, lets just say it didn't take an hour like we expected. More like 6 hours. We ran into a little problem when bleeding the brake lines, but I am really happy with the results.

I'm still a little light headed from the exhaust and brake cleaner fumes so I'll post pics and more details later.

We went out to a deserted strip to test out stopping distance on the brake lines. We only tried it twice. Both times we got up to about 60 mph (correct me if I'm wrong Wak). I didn't 'mash completly on the gas the first time, so Wak stopped about 1 car length before me.

The second time I gave the brakes all I had and stopped about 1 car length before Wak. All and all I'm hapy with the $100 purchase. As Wak can tell you, the install is simple. Its bleeding the brake lines that gives you the headache. Don't waste your money by having someone else do it.

Now that this is done, where is my beer?

Here is one of the small problems we ran into. We seemed to have the most problems with the install on the last line. Figures.

While working on the last line,
we put the last screw to the test...
we wanted to see what he was really made of...
we asked the screw if he was a man, or a little boy...

We found out was is still a boy. He couldn't take the pressure of being a man. Here is the proof of his adolescence...

It made us question the craftsmanship on some of these aftermarket products.

Hey Mantis, dude that sucks that you have to wait that long to get the rims, I found a several places in Dallas who could these rims within a week, but they are about 400 bucks more expensive
than Tribal Pacific.
To be honest with you I was going to order the BR5 myself, but
I saw the replicas in European magazines that I bought, and quickly changed my mind. They look almost identical to BR5's but cost like 1/3...
Man, as soon as my shit comes in, we are hooking up...

Yeah, I could have gotten them from a local dealer, but he wanted like at LEAST $1000 / rim. I was like fuck that, I'm already spending too much as is.

You said you changed your mind after you saw the replicas in euro mags. What made you change your mind? Were they cheap looking? Just curious.

When I saw the replicas that look almost a like, for fraction of the price, made me want to get them. But I dont think I want to have replica wheels on a 30+ thousand dollar car...
Plus, i thought to myself that if these replicas wheels are out in Europe already, that means that they will be making their way to the states at no time, so every rice mobile will have a set of those on...
I don't know man, but I got to admit they look tite as fuck...

Mantis, the T1 tire will weight 23lbs...

How much does the stock tire weight, do you know?
The stock wheel weights either 24 or 26 lbs, I cant recall...

The whole stock wheel/tire combo weighs ~52 lbs. I believe the stock wheel weighs 26 lbs. The 235/35/19 T1 actually weighs 22.7, but who's counting. I guess when I had asked earlier, I was referring to the wheel, not the tire.:P

The sales guy told me that the wheel is about 25lbs. So you know
you always got to add a few pounds to any sales guys bull shit, so by these estimates it's around 27 lbs....
I'll know for sure when the package arrives...

I am picking it up from ACP.com Its not specifically for our car, but it does include our car. It costs like 185 with shipping.
Find More here

I pretty much need it, my toe angle is outside of the specified range for our car.

Does the kit fix the toe?? I'm not sure how to read my printout, but i thought i got my toe fixed from the alignment. I was told that my camber was the only worry for me

My bad, I meant to say my camber is outside of the specified range, and that I'm picking up the camber kit to fix that. Yes, toe is corrected by an alignment.

Heh, I can still make it out.

Hey, they had my car listed as a 1999-2000 TL. What did they list your car as? (it should be on the top center)

I hope the ranges are the same.
