I've worked something out that should let me join in for a bit. Should be there around 5pm.

And the weather looks like it is going to be GREAT!

Yeah, that was fun. We definetly should do it again.
Props on the ride Eman.
Sweet handling action PlanoTLS.

Here are a few of the pics. They didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped. We should have gotten close-ups or something. Guess that means we have to meet again.

I was a great time meeting all the folks!

Other than the fact that we didn't have much time together, it was great all the way around. Got to see some nice cars and see some of the mods up close.

I must say I like the look of the Mungen rear spoiler on PlanoTLS' ride. Rootbeer was out driving emans moded ride (headers, CAI, and more I think) to see how it felt Mantis and a friend of his (sorry I forgot your name) and myself were out testing PlanoTLS suspension mods. (Sway bar and spings) I got to take it through some nice S-curves and was doing 60MPH and accelerating. Mind you with 4 guys in the car! WOW, no bodyroll!! I really LOVED IT! Can't wait for the chance to have mine done. PlanoTLS got his got all through Snook too!

After we got back most of us had to run. Mantis and I headed up Coit and stopped at the light to chat about how bad our handling felt after driving PlanoTLS ride. When the light changed we took off and had a friendly little run at it. We didn't do much since Mantis had a bad tranny, but some guy in a Vette took notice of us horsing around. We slow down and the Vette catches up and pulls next to Mantis and I'm tailing the Vette. The guyi n the Vette looks over at Mantis and starts to egg him on. (I'm just a 4-dr and he's not really interested in me. :P) Well bad tranny or not Mantis gives him his best shot.

Mean while, I pull into the right outer lane next to the Vette. As the Vette nails it I'm in 2nd doing 45MPH. The Vette is pulling us a little at this point, but not by much. By 80MPH Mantis' tranny is giving him grief so now it just me and the Vette. By 90MPH the Vette manages to eck out a 1 to 1 1/2 car lead. But, now I'm in full VTEC mode and actually gaining ever so slightly on the Vette. At 115MPH (7200RPM in 3rd) we are coming up on traffic and I now when to quit, but I did close the gap to about 1 car length before he should have started walking away from me.

What a way to end a great little meet. I bet if I had the mystery mod I would have stay right with the Vette or even pulled him slightly.

Anyway, looking forward to the next time and I hope more folks can make it.

Hey RUF, when are you considering getting sways / springs? Will you have someone do it for you, or will you do it yourself. I think PlanoTLS said he printed out instructions for the Sways and they worked perfectly. If you decide to do it yourself, let me know, and I'll go in on some too.

PlanoTLS, what all do I need to get to make it handle like yours... just springs and sways right? (I have a terrible memory)

nice job on the pics mantis, i like how you incorporated the words

after hearing your compliments about the handling, i really want to get the sways now, even thought i didnt get to experience it first-hand

i wish i could have been with you guys on the way out, to see the race with the vette- sounds really exciting

casperTL still doesnt have a sn yet, but he had a great time, and also enjoys the pics

on a side note, i took off the lic plate only to find some bad scratches in its place... the plastic on the holder was very coarse in the back, and apparently made lots of tiny chips in the paint... i'll have to ask for some touchup paint next time i go to the dealer... and oh, i just broke 3000mi today

it was great meeting all of you, and definitely looking forward to next time

It was really nice to meet you all. We should definitely do it again soon. I want to see eman's exhaust. So does my girlfriend. She will bring her car too next time, so Ruf wont be the only one with the pearl white. Great job on the pics!!! I guess the only thing to talk about now is when the next time everyone wants to meet? hehe.

Hey everyone.

Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour tonight. It's Daylight Savings Time again. That means it's going to be dark at 5:30 soon and less time for fun in the sun.

I'm not the pro on Vettes, but it was a fairly new one. If I had to guess I'd say it was a 2000. I know it wasn't a Z06.

The main problem comes in when I shift from 2nd to 3rd. A lot of the time, the gear doesn't catch on the drive train, therefore when I hit the throttle, my engine just increases RPMs but I don't go anywhere. I have to lay off the gas for it to catch on the gears.

Also, when I've been going WOT a lot, the car will search for gears. For example, after going WOT for a bit, I'll resume to normal driving. While going about 40 mph or so, in SS, the car seems like it will try to jump into 1st or 2nd gear. The car jerks pretty badly.

I'm on order to get a new one from David McDavid, and they told me if the problem gets to bad then I could just park it there. But I hate to do that.

This is Hanzie's girfriend. I just wanted to say that it was nice meeting all of you and the pics are very cool!
Maybe we can do it again in a few months... Thanks on the pics.

Ohh I couldn't remember your online name, I'll update the pic.

It was the newer C5 design. As for the year?? I'm thinking 1999 or 2000.

I can say one thing. The guy rarely runs it up because when he floored it you could tell. His exhaust blew some carbon and junk for a few tenths of a second at each of the higher RPM points.

Since the race I've been wondering how close it would have been had I not started out from behind him. And letting him make the first move with Mantis.

It's possible that I may have stuck on his backend all the way to 115MPH! It was that close!

Hey Ruf,
well, whenever i come to a complete stop the idle immediately drops to almost 0 rpms and the whole car vibrates cause the motor is about to stall. Then it jumps back up to normal, right under 1000 rpm. Ive been to the dealer three times already and they still havent fixed it. Its really pissing me off. At night, when my lights are on, you can really notice it cause the interior dash lights and headlights dim really low, kinda like when you have a really bad ass stereo with amps draining your battery, which i used to have in an old car. my lights dim when the idle drops like that. Help PLEASE!!!!!!!!

I don't know if it was a C5 or not, but I definetly know what I saw, and Ruf87 was pullin' on him. Whether the Vette was going WOT I'll never know.

So, i know that those are really quick, and i didnt think our cars would hang like that. Now i'm not saying ruf is lying, im just surprised, i think i will try to race a vette, (and get my ass handed to me)hehe jk. Well congrats Ruf, good job on almost beating the vette.

This sounds just like what I was experiencing some months ago.

Have the dealer check out the ELD circuit. This is the Electronic Lowspeed Detection circuit. It is designed to modulate the idle speed and compsensate for the A/C, alternator and such when they put a load on the system. What they think is happening is that it is not making the adjustments timely enough and is playing havoc with the idle speed.

Anyway, I stressed to my services guys that I knew of an Acura Techline bulletin on this and sure enough they found it. All they ended up doing was disconnect it. Since then, 3,000 miles ago, it has been working just fine. Also, it may be me, but it felt a bit livelier off the line after this fix.

Anyway, have them check it out the next time your in for service.

hmm, quick question popped into my head..

does mcdavid offer loaner cars when you take it into service, or do you have to specifically ask for it?

When I took my car in to get the SRS detector unit replaced, I left my car there overnight. They tried to give me a shitty Cavalier, but I demanded something else. They gave me a slow Montero Sport which smelled like someone had used the restroom all over it.

When I took it in to have my transmission looked at, the guy saw the frown on my face when he said I could park it there and they would give me a loaner. Neil Mitchell (I think was his name) said not to worry, and that he would give me a mid-sized vehicle to compensate. I'd assume a Camry or something.
