It's not coming out or going to wiggle any but eventually I need to go get a replacement bolt and hope that works first, otherwise I either will have to have it re-threaded or even replaced. I got time to figure that out.

What amazed me was the fact that the 2 production line screws came off the front with just a screw driver and bare hand grip. The rear rotors screws I had to drill out since they were OEM rotors and had rusted in.

I'm loving the cross drilled slotted look and they seem to perform well.

Appreciate it man. Will get it done once I order the fluid then!

I'm always driving in or out of rowlett via rowlett rd or centervile towards firewheel. You'll know my car when you see it and hear it.

I am always driving around that area as well haha.

Right now 06 WDP TL is stock. Under my front bumper on the right side is bruised up from the previous owner running over a curb I guess. Not too noticeable, but its there.

Hopefully within the next few days I'll order my aspec kit which I have delayed for ever.

I always take the rotor screws out and leave them out. They are only there for when the car is being built on the production line.

So you're telling me you're cruising around with a bolt hanging in a stripped thread. I guess you're unfamiliar with the guy whose caliper did the hamster tumble in his wheel, losing all braking power to that axle and almost crashing while his baby sister was riding shotgun. You should helicoil it before you drive another mile.

It took a breaker bar to screw it in, it's in there and not coming out. it seated against the bracket just not able to torque it. It's not coming out and it's not loose on the bracket. It's the lower bolt. The upper bolt is in fine and torqued to 125lbf-ft. I plan to take care of it in a matter of days but thanks for the warning.

That dude in the link had both bolts come out and not really sure but i think he did the work and didn't torque the screws right.

There's still a chance that lower bolt could come loose depending on how much thread unzipped but definitely get it fixed sooner than later.

Elegant probably hand tightened his bolts..

The worst you'd have to do is replace the knuckle right?

The bolt screws into the caliper through the knuckle. I'm hoping I can just replace the screw first and see if that works otherwise the suggestion of re-threading will be the second option.

You shouldn't have to replace the knuckle. It's a common problem. A helicoil should be good enough. I'm wondering if you have enough space to do it with the rotor on.

Caliper screw is this what we are talking about? Well you can try to chase the threads with a Tap and see if that helps clean it up. If not you can helicoil but I would recommend a new knuckle. Not too sure how well helicoils stand heat transfer. Use them on oil pans if we get hack jobs back from the quick lubes. They seem to hold up but on something as critical as that I wouldnt trust it. Try running the proper tap through it first and see if it cleans up.

I think we're discussing the caliper bolt to the knuckle.

Like this (not TL):
Usually the thread of the knuckle gets stripped.

I'm not sure what brake caliper that is but it's not the Brembo caliper (I have the 6MT). On the Brembo caliper the screw goes though the knuckle first and then screws into the back of the caliper so the threads are in the caliper.

I'm going to get 2 more bolts and just try using the first bolt to see if it will thread through and seat itself so I can torque it down. If that doesn't work then I'll have to find someone that has the tool that I can re-thread it. I'm also going to check into the cost of a replacement caliper. It might just be easier to replace the damn thing and while I'm at it just replace both calipers. What the heck! LOL

Oh, it threads to the caliper.. even better.

I had to search to verify and found this gem:
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/help-stripped-bolt-thread-brembo-caliper-849759/

Helicoil or 6 pot BBK..

Yep...great find on that thread! that's exactly the same issue with mine. Hmmm...rebuilt $145...hmmm...I'll try getting a new bolt and see if that works for now.

Who has a heli-coil kit?

Nail, you got any of these tools available? the screw is a 14 x 1.5 mm, 170 N.m. That's from section 19-19 of the manual.

After this week is cool. I'm going to see if I can get 2 of the bolts in the mean time and test one of the bolts out first.

I'll ping you next week. Janet is going out of town next week so I'll be bacheloring it for 8 days and might just take a few days off myself. I'll have plenty of free time to work on this then.

How in the hell do you strip a caliper bolt?
I always put a dab of anti seize on mine.

Good question! Mine was not done by me. I called DMD to order a couple more bolts and they said that stripping it is a common problem. I guess if you use a powered wrench you could not seat it correctly and and just force it in.

My stripped bolt was torqued on tight when I went to remove it but of all the bolts it required I use the breaker bar to completely unbolt it. So the damage was done when they bolted it down and they never knew it (maybe).

AWWW!!! How did you find out that it's around there? Was it your first car? I wish I could find mine, but I don't want to think of where it....or its remains may be.

Not my first, but one of my favorites.

I used checkmyride.com It locates the last known registered listing of the VIN.

Im doing this on the 28th thru Groupon. i paid 99 for the Ferrari and 99 for the insurance. Min insurance is 49 but only covers 50K and has a 5K deductible. The 99 insurance covers the entire car and only has a 1K deductible. bought every thing thru the website.

Agreed! No way would I pay full price on this one. I wouldn't even pay full price on the 1hr drive I did awhile back.

Thank God for Groupon!

Been doing some browsing and stumbled upon this.

http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/pts/3143878978.html

Even though the ad states he has a whole set of them and they are wrapped in Falken 235/35zr19 instead of 245/35zr19 I'd still check it out. 19" black ron jon legends for sale on craigslist is pretty rare. And if you contact the poster he might say something like 'I already sold 2 wheels so I only have 2 left .. oh and they are actually 245/35zr19'.

It had too many similarities for me to overlook it. Worth a shot.

Edit: I sent him an email using my 2nd email account I never use asking him about the wheels. We'll see what he says...

If any of you drive down Cole (between Knox and Fitzhugh), be wary of a motorcycle cop lying-in-wait....

I got tagged at 42 MPH....I wanted to cry LOL!

At least he didn't give me shit about no front plate!

LOL. Nevermind, forget the ad I found. His original ad said they were black. Since then he updated the ad with a pic of his car and now they are silver.

EvilJoker, I'm 99% sure that ad was posted before the OP's wheels were stolen.
