Hey guys, today or tomorrow I'll be raising the car up, but I figured out I need a spring compressor. Do I just go to autozone, rent one and then compress the spring. Then without taking it off the car, do I just adjust the ring that controls the height? Or do I need to take off the spring completely? Also, the spring is set above the wheel, so I'm assuming I wouldn't need to take the wheel off...

On to the rims...

Here are some more shots. I agree that the center caps aren't the greatest, but they will suffice until I try to get some acura center caps that fit.

I'm not completely sure if they are concave or not, I'm going to go look at them in person today. I'm assuming a lower offset will be more concave ish? Also, what offset would look good? I'm gunna go with a 19x8.5 with either a +26 or +48 in front and 19x9 +22 or +55 in back. I already have the fenders rolled.

You should be able to move the suspension up without a compressor.

48 and 55 both are very weak offsets.

So 26 and 22 are the way to go? Do you think I would have clearance issues Nelson?

You should be fine with 26 and 22. Its your tire choice that will make all the difference along with suspension.

Plan on removing the shock assembly. I think the long threaded bolt on the spring compressor would run into the body at some point when you compress. There isn't much room to work with in the wheel well area, and the screw type spring compressors generally involve maneuvering around. Also the upper control arm on the fronts will be in the way.

I've never tried it on the car though.

He is prob gonna stagger with those offsets. Sean you have the Tein Basics right? If thats the case unload the suspension (jack it up) then just screw it up the perch. When you unload a suspension you should be able to get it screwed up enough on 99 percent of them. If its a spring and shock assembly do the same and you should have enough wiggle room to at least move it one perch up. A ruler is your best friend or something to make sure you are raising it equally. Coilover setups I usually just measure between the adjustment and the threaded body and that usually gets me damn close on whatever I work on.

No Nelson I have the Koni Yellows and S. Techs.

And Ethan, ya they are going to be staggered, but not by much. 8.5 in front, and 9 in the back. I talked to Tim at Elite Auto Werks, who is a family friend, and he said he is going to get them for me for $1100. Really good deal, most likely will have them next weekend.

Also...Ethan will I see you at Oktoberfest tomorrow? I'm going to be there...

With the Koni Yellows I think you can lift up the car and unload the suspension and move it up a perch or so I think.

When you raise the car off the ground, the suspension will release to the lowest position. Sometimes that's enough to release the coil spring tension to service it without a compressor. Even more so with lowering springs. My best guess (and more safe for a non-pro) is that the shock/coil assembly has to come out and be compressed. The rear might be released enough, but I doubt the front will be. Late model Honda's generally have a good amount of tension front and rear. I've never worked on a TL with that exact susp set-up though.

Nelson, since you just bought a Supra, I need your input on them & the Mk. IV, as much as you know. PM me or we'll talk in person if you've got a lot of info on them.

Anything & everything, honestly. Particularly, maintenance on the car & the running the turbo without blowing it to kingdom-come.

The car already has 460rwhp so I'm looking for a drag/highway car out of it.

Well since you have an auto you do not have to worry about a crank walking issue they have. Its rare on an auto but has happened to a couple of people. Maintenance is key on the survival of the engine. 460rwhp is really not much and not working that engine too hard. Engine needs a proper cool down after hard runs as you do have a cast iron block and aluminum head which are two dissimilar metals. Some proper cooldown after a few hard runs (idle the car) will help with it. Other than that really nothing I can see wrong with it. Make sure the owner takes good care of it and make sure all the install is done properly.

Dually noted. Thank you.

I didn't see it listed, but should I invest in a turbo timer as well?

Woop . . . finally done with the Prelude rebuild. Over 90% of the front end and front suspension and steering is new or rebuilt. It's not 100% perfect, but better than I thought considering I did a lot of the work. It kicked my butt a couple of times.

Here's a couple of pics.

Thanks Majofo and Nelson.

I just got a 2nd resonator on my car today and reworked the exhaust flow a bit. It's a bit better, but not good enough so I will be getting some CC Inserts for the mufflers. The idle is a bit erratic when it's cold, and I have new plugs and O2 sensor to install. And would like to do a valve adjustment before I go to the track. I also need to finish the mod for the ram-air, but before I do we need to see - Jeff ? - about getting that custom aluminum intake we talked about.

Oh, I drove it late afternoon and it ripped a serial 2nd gear tire spin.

Guys...want to check again. Do you think any rubbing will occur with these new rims? 19x8.5 front +26 and 19x9 rear +20. Lowered with basically S. Techs.

Hmmmm ok. I'm think I'll definitely start running a 225 in front, and keep the 235 in the rear. Hopefully, I could get one of you guys to give me a hand to raise up the suspension and that would help Especially the front, the rear seem OK, but I think I might raise the rear one perch as well.

Well...as of now, since the tires are still good, I'll be running 235/35/19 all around, and that will be the trial period. I'll see what needs to be adjusted and changed and what not. But still definitely want to raise the car, the school's parking is just a dangerous place...

So, as I PM'd Ethan about it, this upcoming weekend will be my only one off for a while & due so, I want to see who's interested in a lunch meet either Sat. after C&C, or Sunday after the usual GTG.

It doesn't matter where we eat or what we do, I just want to make the most of the weekend since I will barely have any time for anything outside of work after this week.
