Hey, would anyone be able to help me paint my calipers and install new rotors/pads sometime this week or weekend? We could work in my garage in Arlington or I could come to you. I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I know one of you guys knows someone who can restore wheels in the area, so I'd appreciate any help.

Just one wheel, looking to spend $75-100. Dealer wants $125-130+ & expects me to ride on the donut for 2 days which doesn't do it any good afterwards.

Lol, while on requests...who wants to make some money? My Koni Yellows come in Friday, and I wanna know if anyone is willing to install them for me/me helping. Looking to pay around 150-200 bucks, so if you don't wanna do it, and know a quality shop that will do it for that much, that'd be great.

I would, but I'm down 2 cars that are being worked on with one taking up the garage for the next few days.

That said, how do you plan on prepping the calipers for painting?

I've used Discount Tire, who I believe uses Wheels of America. I think it's about $125 or so as well.

So, how is installing the Konis different from your typical struts and springs?

Will do mark =D. Thanks for the offer though. The rear was the hardest out of everyone but the good part is now that I put the new mounts in there is so much room back there. Also the fronts pretty straightforward I just need to bolt on a few things back where they need to go for the back and I should be good.

Hey Nelson, just a reminder for you to drop off that crank bolt tool. I've let the 1/2" impact gun hammer away and there's no sign of it coming loose. As for the ball joint press tool, I can get a loaner from O'Reilly's.

Also, you mentioned you had a header that would fit the Prelude. If you still have it would you mind bringing it so I can take a look at it?

Many Thanks!

No Worries, I'll just see if O'Reilly's has one as I really need to get the car running by Monday. As for the header, Saturday is fine.

Shop press

I noticed mention of pressing ball joints. I have a 12 ton hydraulic press if anyone wants to come over to use it. Ive used it to take out ball joints before and it makes it super easy.

Getting my shocks and brakes done at the shop tomorrow. I wanted to install it with a member, but my mom is afraid we will do it wrong and insists on paying a shop hundreds of dollars. As long as I'm not paying...

Dang! It's getting to where a shadetree mechanic can't even make a little money now and then.

I got my strut assembly done, ball joints pressed in, new hubs and bearing are in, power steering and serpentine belts off, crank bolt off and timing cover off and ready to pull the timing belt tomorrow. And if Nelson makes it by to show me the short way to replace the rear main I'll get that done too.

Lol Mark, I had an offer to anyone who was willing to help me and get paid and I got no responses. I was going to install my rotors and pads with Ethan in September, but the shop we went to offered to throw it in for free since they were already going to have the wheels off, and it seemed like a good idea. Ethan I'd still like to come and give you a hand or something when you do yours, so I can still learn.

Thanks Ethan lol I dont really care. I know how private shops and big dealerships work so I have been through both sides. It is understandable what people perceive.

Hum . . . maybe I shouldn't have you stop by . .

Yeah, there's good ones and bad ones no matter where you go. I've fixed things they couldn't and I've messed up at times.

Anyway, I should be home by 12:30, so any time after that works for me. But I do have to leave at 5ish, so let me know what time you thinks you'll drop by.

Ya I know. It wasn't in my control though. I really wasn't happy the entire time at the shop, but they did a good job.

And I can't make it to Starbucks, I have to do some family brunch thing.

I have some ingalls upper ball joints I need to install. Firestone wouldn't do it and I wasn't comfortable doing it myself. Do you have time this week?

Well . . I got the tranny out and found out there was more wrong that just a leaking rear main seal. There an 'O' ring that goes on the torque converter that needs the be replaced, besides the rear main seal . . . well, there was no 'O' ring! The idiots at David McDavid Plano not only left the radiator cap off when they replaced the tranny under warranty, they forgot to put the 'O' ring on.

Damn that tranny is a bitch to stab by yourself. It kept tilting, twisting and binding, but I finally got it. Now to get all the connections where they go.
