Phone just died.. Battery indicator no workie....

 

Dont see why not. The only issue that may come up is the data plan for the iPhone. They may want to tack that on to your other line.

 

So has anyone went from a jailbroken iPhone 3G with 2.2 to a jailbroken iPhone 3G with 3.0?

I don't need the unlock since I am with AT&T.

 

I went from Jailbroken 2.2.1 to 3.0. Waiting for Quickpwn to come out to jailbreak since I don't have a mac, and can't get the work around working,

 

The jailbreak is the easy part so I don't think you need to worry much. Right now jailbreaking it is a little harder than double clicking so wait no more than a week and I'm sure Dev Team will come out with a program, probably QuickPWN, that is simple and less screwing up on the user end.

 

Ive switched everything over to my new phone...now I need to figure out how to unlock my 1 gen to give it to my wife to use with her tmobile.

yeah I tried that one and ouickpwn...neither recognized my 1st gen as being plugged in...annoying and there are no real good instructions on "how to" use the programs.

 

what version are you on? I used Ziphone many times on my old 1g Iphone. I'm betting it has to do with itunes version as well

 

newest itunes, newest OS...might have to wait for them to catch up...

 

Ya that's your problem. I heard the Dev team was supposed to launch a new quickpwn today, once 3.0 was out and couldn't be changed by apple to stop their unlock. They must be a little behind.

 

Yeah I was just wondering. I don't want to lose any files on jailbroken apps so I'll wait (videos on cycorder, categories folders, etc)

I'm definitely not gonna jump the gun, I plan to wait at least a week after quickpwn is out before I upgrade. 3.0 doesn't really offer anything I can't wait for. I hate typing on the landscape keyboard (typed all of this on the regular keyboard). I was taking a look on iClarified and it appears people are having issues with pwnagetool.


If someone can tell me a way to use MIDI ringtones on this phone I will paypal you some cash!!

AFAIK the iPhone doesn't play MIDI but if you found a MIDI to MP3/AIFF/AAC/WMA/ETC converter you could eventually get it to an m4r file.

 

the pwnage tool that is out is for mac only.

oh does anyone else know how to enable the battery % reading in the upper right corner next to the battery logo. Or is that a 3G s only feature?

 

if your iphone is jailbroken you can get a program called bossprefs or sbsettings (through cydia) and set the settings to change the battery indicator to percentage. At least thats how I do it.

 

it's a new feature of 3.0 but I've looked everywhere to try and enable it but can't find it. I've seen pics of it so I know it's possible

looks like the only way for 2g and 3g is to jailbreak.

The biggest problem is extracting the MIDI files out of this file I got from my palm treo. Also, I haven't been able to find a converter that works on a mac.

Went flawlessly, however, I did have some Cydia crashes when first installing some things. Seams to be better now though.

 

redsn0w is available on the dev website, should make jailbreaking the iphone 2G and 3G easy, it WONT unlock the iphone 3G. have to wait for that ultrasn0w

wow, they really updated the stock market app

where the graph was in 2.2.1 they have pages you can swipe to.

in landscape mode you can use multi touch to find out how much a stock has moved between your 2 fingers.

 

i hope this restore im doing isnt going to put me back to 2.2.1.

i tunes is restoring the back up i made earlier. so i think its just all the apps and settings contacts sms etc etc.

 

this is taking forever!

 

You guys are brave jumping the gun with the jailbreaking already.

 

^ why not? mines jailbroken as well and working perfectly. cydia kept crashing at first, but its stable now.

 

its not that risky, they've had the software for a while now.

my battery has gone to poop, i was watching about 1 hour of uhhh... streaming video

and my battery went from full to 20%

 

Well I just read a lot of people getting dropped calls and having problems with their iPhone that they didn't have before. Remember how yellowsnow had wifi problems with the new 2.2 release? Everytime Dev Team pushes out their release, it's prone to have bugs and so I try to wait it out until they patch it up.

 

Are you guys using an Intel Mac, PowerPC Mac, or Windows operating system?

Did you you use redsn0w, yellowsn0w or pwnagetool?

 

I used redsn0w, windows vista and have had no problem at all. Phone working flawlessly. A 3g btw.

 

yea my 2g is working fine.

 

I have a PowerPC + 3G so I'm waiting for reports of a flawless transition from jailbroken 2.2.1 to jailbroken 3.0. AFAIK redsn0w is not compatible with PPC so I guess I have to wait for quickpwn... no biggie.
