nothing was actually said about a new phone...but the original 1st gen iphones 2 year contracts come up in June...educated guess.

I wonder if you could use that peer to peer feaure to tether a pc with. They said it uses bonjour and Bluetooth and didnt say it was used to connect only iphones exclusively.

Because they want you to upgrade the phone.

Like Sarlacc said, the original contracts are up in June. It makes sense that they would not allow MMS on 1st gens. Contracts are up, upgrade the phone to get the latest and greatest.
