While this isn't an auto response, its a neat feature I just learned about in iOS 11:
saying “Hey Siri, remind me about this” works in multiple scenarios since iOS 11. For example if you create a reminder from within an iMessage convo, tapping it from the reminder will also directly open the conversation.

I'm curious why you use Chrome on a Mac.

What version of iOS are you on?

I use Safari, but have Chrome installed. Mainly for testing, but there are some Google Drive things like uploading folders which only work from Chrome (or Google Backup & Sync).

I don't want to get too irritating, but why would you want to use Google Backup instead of iCloud?

Why would you use Google Drive instead of Apple's iCloud or Dropbox?

I'm not totally anti-Google. I have an LG V30 that I like very much and in some ways find it to be better than my iPhone X.

But it seems especially recently that you don't want your ecosystems to overlap. I've had the oddest feeling recently that they're screwing with each other where the api allow it to be done surreptitiously.

The only concession I made was having my iCloud email address on the V30, but of course that required a device specific password.

Totally legit questions!

Personally, I was an original Dropbox user and loved their service. Some members of their board, and a few ex-employees I know made me question that 'blind' loyalty. After doing more research, I have been exclusively iCloud based with everything for about three years now. I do keep my device backups exclusively encrypted on my MBP however. I love the simplicity, privacy and integration with my ecosystem of iCloud.

However, I am a Rotarian and this year (Since July) as Secretary of our Club, I have transitioned us from being entirely paper based to largely paper-free through the adoption of Google Apps for Non-Profits. In dealing with a good number of technophobes and a vast majority not within the Apple ecosystem and having done some preliminary testing with Dropbox the year previous, the free GApps really can not be beaten. We're not using it with anywhere near 90% efficiency yet, but it's helped a great deal and moved us as an Organization forward immeasurably 🤓

Looks like in a future update, Apple will give the option to turn off the performance throttling (or whatever you want to call it)

Is it true you guys can't future date texts? I heard that on the radio but they weren't the most techy.

No.

I noticed this was an advantage with the V30 on Nougat, that you could schedule a text.

Most people would probably not ever need that, but I don't know why you couldn't implement it in a future iOS version nevertheless.

Google's ability to adapt strikes yet again.

Google supports all kinds of thing that Apple does not. Apple is remarkably insular in many ways, even this far along and with all of their successes.

I think the battery/processor slowdown issue is an example of this. Any one of us could have predicted for them that if their user base were not in control of that process, there would be an outcry.

Nope.

Although, I could see them young ins using this against their parents.

I don't even think I would use it if we had it.

Emojis on AZ are kinda cool but the mobile pop ups make it almost unusable.

Free upgrade to 6s Plus?

https://www.macrumors.com/2018/01/19...-replacements/

If you have a damaged iPhone 6 Plus that qualifies for a whole-device replacement, Apple may replace it with an iPhone 6s Plus through March, according to an internal document distributed to Apple Authorized Service Providers today.

Apple specifically states that "orders for whole unit service inventory of some iPhone 6 Plus models may be substituted to an iPhone 6s Plus until the end of March 2018." MacRumors confirmed the memo's authenticity with multiple sources, who requested to remain anonymous due to their positions.

Apple doesn't specify which iPhone 6 Plus models are eligible, nor does it provide a reason for the substitution, but it likely relates to Apple's shortage of iPhone 6 Plus replacement batteries until late March to early April.

A previous internal document obtained by MacRumors states that Apple no longer manufactures the iPhone 6 Plus, so it likely has to reboot its production lines to replenish its supply of both the device itself and batteries, which would certainly take time. Apple did not respond to our request for comment.

It's possible that some customers who have visited a Genius Bar recently opted for a whole-device replacement rather than waiting until March or April for a new battery, which may have depleted the little supply of iPhone 6 Plus replacement units that Apple had, but this is only speculation on our part.

With iOS, you cannot schedule a text in the future unless you jailbreak.

It's just not something that they thought anybody would want to do.

I like having it available as a feature on the V30, but I admit that I have only done it once, and didn't even have a need for it when I did do it.

A lot of nice iOS features came out of jailbreaking, however. Maybe they'll add future texting at some point.

Night Shift came out of the jailbreak community, for example.

Some screen recording features.
Control Centre toggles.
Using SIRI to translate.
"Smart Invert"
AirPod gestures.
Left Side and Right Side Keyboard.
Moving or Pinning a Note

Whatever you might think of Apple, they do keep their eyes open for what people might want. So don't rule out future texting as a future feature.

Not really. They typically discount the older model and drop off some capacity models.

they did it with the iPhone 6, 6S & 7..

They generally (not always) still sell the last gen model and drop the one before. So when the 7 came out, they still sold the 6s but dropped the 6 and so on. The reason they do this is to allow people to buy the last gen phone cheaper then the current. With the X, they are saying the new phones will be a variant of the X but with possibility of 3 models, including a cheaper one.

Really rough render, but the supposed reduced FaceID notch would be much better.

Still waiting on the next batch of Android offerings.

The phones are not the reason for slower sales, but carriers have stopped subsidizing their purchase. ATT and Verizon still deal on Android phones. BOGO’s half prices or handjobs. Samsung will do anything to sell them.

Yes, I do think it is likely.

They have been able to make advances in design and manufacturing that will make the "mid-level" iPhone in 2018 cheaper than any price they could set for the iPhone X.

They aren't going to lose money on the iPhone X, so out the door it goes.

Any speculation when next iphones will be coming out. I'm really just interested in the camera. I really just text, email and web browse. So tech features don't really concern me.
