Apple: iPhone News and Discussion Thread
just seen on FB...
kinda dumb to reassign an old key combo to dial 911 on a new phone lol
Stupid Facebook app sent my iPhone on an infinite loop from home to the app. Pressed the power button made it worse. So my phone was locked and unable to open due to the lack of the home button or scanning my face wasn’t working. So I did what I used to with my 7+. Hold the power button and the volume buttons. Ha! Biggest mistake. My phone thought it was an emergency and called 911 instead
😫
😫. Moral of the story, if you have an iPhone X ..... DO NOT press both the volume buttons and and power one at the same time or you will have an awkward conversation with the 911 dispatcher
😩

It's easier than it sounds; however, it's different enough from the previous design that I will probably just avoid doing it.
With the decline of jailbreaking, it doesn't matter anywhere near as much as it used to.
Way back when, you'd never dream of using an iPhone 4S, 5 or 5S without jailbreaking.
Nowadays, all the best things out of jailbreaking have been incorporated into iOS, or providers have done it (tethering).
Didn't I read a blurb somewhere that Saurik had retired?

Here's a good article on the history of Jailbreaking and where it is now (

i haven't bothered jailbreaking since iOS 5.
I also stopped because jailbreaking screwed up my phone and all backups i had made since i jail broke it.
had to restore to like a 1.5 year old backup that was clean and had no issues.

Any way, after much deliberation, I saw my local Apple Store had iPhone X is stock, so I picked one up. Needless to say, I'm sticking with it. Love it so far.
That's why I stopped jailbreaking. Apple basically put into iOS the best of jailbreaking.
There's a couple of Android features I wish that iOS would include: auto responses and delayed messaging.
I do not believe I would jailbreak to get those features, though.
Is it possible to use Siri for delayed messaging? You can also turn on an auto response of sorts by setting a custom message and manually enabling do not disturb while driving.
Ok, ISIS...
He'll hopes to make enough money from the ads to pay for it.
Though I don't usually watch this destruction, drop videos. But I guess enough people still do to cover the cost of destroying the devices

I'm not even sure how to try that. Do you have an idea?
If you try, "Hey SIRI, send a message to **** in ten minutes" [or at any time] results in sending immediately.
Sure, including the mandatory "type urgent" message, unfortunately.

So trying to help my girlfriend setup the iPhoneX. Was going to have her use iCloud to backup her old 6S first though since she doesn't have a computer. However it keeps failing to backup. She is getting the error "Some files were unavailable during the last backup" Thing is she has like 50gb used on her phone out of 64gb and iCloud says it is only using 146MB but everything is checked for it to be backing up.

Yesterday was the first time I realized I could no longer use the iPod connection in my car with the iPhone X.
It'll slow rate charge but no longer transmits data at the same time.

I called Verizon to see what kind of deal they could offer me on an 8. They said "no deals on iPhone handsets at all".
Geez Sprint is offering $350 off the 8 with a number transfer...
