I'm not sure when it's going to arrive it went from China to Kentucky in two days, but it's stayed there for a day, if it was going to make it to Tampa by tomorrow it would've left by now. Is it going to sit in Kentucky for a week!?
Sanest Florida Man
it’s in FL. It might make it tomorrow

I experienced the "stops working in cold weather" last night while trying to add some oil to my car in the balmy 39 degree weather (not exactly terribly cold) and looking up how to do it on the Youtubes..... the screen buttons stop responding to touch. I had to go inside the car and do the researching. Hope software update fixes it. Glaring omission from R&D

haven't heard of that. I have had my 7plus heat up in 110F and refuse to work once.
With the lowest temp hitting 48-52 here this winter, hopefully the "cold" whether isn't an issue

It's here! Been playing with it for a couple hours. This thing is a lot faster than my 6, apparently Apple increased the flash storage speed with the 6s (and probably even faster since then). Restarting, upgrading iOS, restoring from backup are all much faster than my 6. I originally set the X up as new but since I'd lose all my previous texts, it wasn't worth it to me. I'll live with whatever Honda bugs there are.
Congrats.
X is the best IPHONE EVER

from a friend:
if this is the case, then Samsung is off the hook, it is not a hardware issue.
Apparently it’s an algorithm that’s been set too rigidly. They have one to determine false presses (like palms) and it constantly evaluate what is a real press and what isn’t. It is getting ‘confused’ when going through a large temperature difference in a short amount of time. That’s why it starts working again after a short while, it’s recalibrated the algorithm and it works again

7 updates since 9/19/2017
Steve Jobs wouldn't have allowed this.
Also, rumor is that future iPhones may have the same form factor as the X

Apple publishes documents very often, which detail how it expects that things are supposed to work, and what you need to do to be sure that your devices and applications work well with the iPhone.
The reason that some cars don't work well with Bluetooth after iOS 11, in Apple's opinion, is that the firmware in the infotainment systems was not designed the way that Apple told everyone that things need to be designed.
:-/
Regardless of what we want to think about this kind of conceit (!!), there's mounting evidence that they're making a change in iOS 11.2 that will take Bluetooth back to what it was. The beta testers on 11.2 beta 3 are saying that their connections that were broken before are working now.
For a short while, it sounded like 2019 would eliminate the notch somehow.
But now they're saying the notch is staying.
And, further, a new iPhone X Plus and new generations of iPad will all have a version of the same notch.

but i thought you loved the X

I ran benchmark comparing the speed increase between the 6 and the X using Passmark's PerformanceTest Mobile Benchmark
Here's the results for the 6 w/ 64GB
Here's the X w/ 256GB
That's faster than SATA 3 SSDs and makes the phone really snappy.

Most of that disk speed increase happened with the 6s, the X numbers are similar to previous models since then. Also the fact that SSDs that have more storage are faster because they have more channels for the data to travel over (something like that, it's been a while), so there'll be improvements as well going from 64 to 256.

for reference, i just ran it on my 64GB 6S and got 71.5 MB/s Write and 305MB/s Read

Face ID is dope. It’s sooo much more reliable than Touch ID was for me. It’s so non intrusive but provides such good security that I’m enabling everywhere I can. I enabled in Outlook for iOS so there’s a Face ID prompt when you open that app. I’d like to have that for iMessages too or Tinder, FaceBook, Google Authenticator, etc so if someone were to take my phone when it was unlocked they’d still get prompted for Face ID when opening certain apps.

it’s awesome
however unlike you, I don’t use it. Mine stays unlocked always
Someone the other day commented while looking at my X.. how come face id is not active, as if that’s the only reason for owning the phone

I will say that I’m finding overall signal strength to not be good on the X.

do you have company email or other work data on your phone?

But, having said that, it is also my experience that the LG V30 can use data and make calls in a place and time that the iPhone X cannot work at all.
For whatever one person's experience is worth, there it is.

No idea what is going on with my shipping. Seems like it has basically reset and started over.

They did remove the ability to see the actual signal strength number in iOS 11 from the Field Test Menu :tinfoilhat:
Supposedly there's apps that will tell you the values but only when the apps are open
