That's just apples stance on privcy. Just like how theyre locking down their phones even to law enforcement and forcing them to goto the user instead for access.

It's like those people I've been reading about who called Apple with getting help on Apple pay purchases, they tell them they can't do anything but to contact their bank/cc or merchant because they don't see anything

Miz, you have around long enough to know that even if these claims are true (not saying they are), there will be a small, unnoticeable change to the TOS once the payment system is fully adopted allowing apple to monetize the info.

There are two reasons Apple is building in user-controlled encryption:
1. the perception of apple as complicit with the government if they don't build it in
2. the significant resources apple has to invest in time/money/personnel to assist the government in accessing data

Apple most likely has plans to collect and monetize the data eventually, but I could be wrong. It could benefit them to become the global leader in secure and easy payment processing with the promise of no data sharing, which would likely increase sales across their product lines. Once Apple gets you into their brand, you're one step closer to using their i____, i____, and i_____.

They have already stated that they have NO intentions of doing so. So to keep harping on it as if they have said they will is pointless or you're just being a troll about it.

All I have ever really said is that MOST companies initially say they have no intention of (insert activity here) and then a year and a half or three down the road, once the technology is full integrated with users, the companies simply 'decide' otherwise and change the TOS.

I think I am correct to be skeptical of a claim to never monetize highly coveted data that is monetized by nearly all others with access to it.

It's covered by the Apple tax you pay on every device.

Monoprice seems to be out of most of the 3ft usb-lighting cables.

Anyone have a line on good cheap ones for charging only?

Just be careful with 3rd party non mfi certified cables and accessories. They're made too cheap and can cause your phone to short circuit or catch on fire. Spend the extra dollar or 2 or 3 and get certified accesories.

^What he said. How much are the 3 footers on monoprice and why do I feel like the AmazonBasics are actually cheaper?

Yup, MFI only, just wondering if anyone has bought any particular ones that work well.

Monoprice sells them for ~$12, but is currently out of stock for the 3ft cables.

Absolutely nothing, but no company makes the type of investment that Apple is making for Apple Pay for no reason. I'm not saying they definitely will monetize the data, it's just a guess. As I stated, they could be doing it for the sole purpose of getting more people into the Apple ecosystem which could lead to more device sales.

Apple is making money already with Apple pay. They get 0.5% of each transaction.

Didn't know that. I guess 0.5% will pay them a nice sum in no time if successful.

So the Amazon cables are cheaper...and from Amazon not Monoprice.

Seems like a no brainer.

I have a bunch of them, they are nice. Better than OEM even.

I only get that with 3rd party keyboards. So I turned that shit off.

Mine keeps crashing or freezing up.

I'd be in the middle of typing something and the damn thing just locks up. Have to do a force shutdown.

iOS 8 has been so buggy. Can't wait until they squish all of them.

Is this the buggiest OS so far? I've never heard of so many glitches or just don't remember. I've had a 3GS and a 4 from 3.0 to 7.0.

Did you upgrade or do clean install? If upgraded, then you need to do clean install.

I ordered a 6 plus with ATT at the end of September and finally reached the first day of my 2 week shipping window. For those who've ordered from ATT, did they ship your phones closer to the beginning of the window or was it just a random day during it? After almost 7 weeks of waiting I'm starting to get antsy for my phone. lol
