@ Nokia. They are circling the drain along with RIM.

Depends on how bad they fucked up. I was furious over the iPhone 4 antenna issue (and still am) because I was (am still) unable to hold a call if I touch a certain part of the phone without using a case. That's a serious fuck up, it may not have effected you but it still effects me to this day, it's not some made up bullshit. So yeah I'm going bitch about it a lot.
Maps is an issue that Apple knowingly brought upon themselves by backing out of their Google contract early and it's effecting 100 of millions of people. The bar was raised after Google Maps so if you're going to replace it then you're going to have to be just as good, they're nowhere close. The few times I've used Apple Maps on my iPad it's given me weak results where I get exactly what I want if I use Google maps.
If the CEO of Apple is recommending 3rd party map solutions to use instead of their own map solution then you know they fucked up BIG TIME!

Not like we don't know there is a problem. We do have the iPhone 5 after all.
You're so worried about just the maps, that you don't realize that can be easily fixed. The antenna problem? Yes old/hard problem back then-- which you could easily bring to the Genius Bar to give you a new one...
For me, the iPhone 5 has been flawless so far.

The antenna problem would not have been fixed by a new phone, it was a design flaw that was in 100% of iPhone 4's and wasn't fixed until they redesigned the antenna in the iPhone 4S.

^ You know, you can do a few things since you hate Apple/iOS6 so much:
1. If you're still on the Iphone 4, you're likely due for an upgrade. Go Upgrade and get another non Apple phone.
2. If you're still under contract, you can sell your Iphone 4 for a decent price, and put that towards your new Android/Windows phone.
3. If you want to keep your Iphone 4 despite Apple's "new found" many flaws, you can simply not upgrade to iOS6 and shut the fuck up and stop trolling this thread.
Boom. Problem? Solved.

Yeah I hate Apple but yet I've owned every iPad (I started the iPad thread), 2 iPhones, 2 iPods, a $2000 MBP, a Mac Mini Server, and Classic Mac, you're an idiot.....

Apple Launches New App Store Feature Section for Alternative Maps
Sep 28, 2012 10:23 am PDT by Eric Slivka
Following this morning's release of an open letter from Tim Cook apologizing for issues with the new Apple-driven Maps app in iOS 6 and mentioning some alternative map options available to users, Apple has also added a new featured section to the App Store highlighting some of those map alternatives.
A host of alternative apps ranging from free to Magellan's $49.99 "RoadMate USA" are available from such brands as Waze, Mapquest, Garmin, Bing, and MotionX.
Apple's embrace of alternative map options seems to be a sign that the company is taking criticism of its own offering seriously, although directing users to downloads through the App Store is still of benefit to Apple. Cook's letter did, however, also promote web-based alternatives such as Google's and Nokia's maps.

I was really hoping it would be better, but so far the reception in both LTE and 4G is horrible in Chicago. LTE sometimes is OK; I've never really seen "4G" work. Abysmal and disappointing. Can I force it to use "E" like I used to on the 4?

Sux, is it really that bad there? Or just you?

I'm surprised, usually in NYC we have shitty mobile service. I remember visiting Boston with my iPhone 4 and I couldn't believe how fast my internet was.
In NYC the signal strength is good. My LTE on the average yields easy 15-20mbps/15mbps.

I can actually surf the net in our lunch room with LTE.
It's in an area where the 3G and Edge signal can't penetrate into
IIRC the frequency of LTE is lower so it can work better indoors.

Uh no it's not an easy fix. There are millions maybe even billions of innaccurate data that's going to need to be fixed one by one, that's not "easy", it's a very long process that is going to take quite a while to sort out. Hence why Tim Cook said to use a competitors mapping service until they get their shit together.

I never had a problem. Maybe your ego/ignorance was covering the antennas. No wonder.

That's not a fix, that's called a workaround or a band-aid. if you download another app Apple Maps doesn't stop sucking, it still sucks you're just not using it any more.
#9988
Just for, shits and giggles., when you used the new Apple Maps, did you get to where you wanted to go?

nope. I looked up a restaurant and it gave me the location that was 20 miles away instead of the one close by, it didn't even know of that restaurants existence. Google Maps found it right away.... I guess that's my dad's fault...

Other then Stunna being a mistake, he is right....Apple Maps is not ready to be released. Apple had too. I have used Apple maps for a few weeks and other then not having built in public transport routing (I found another app) it did fine getting me to where I need to go, Apple will fix it.
Now Itunes match seems to be broken, but thats another story.

As for itunes match. It works great on my iPhone, sometimes on my imac I have to turn it off and then back on and let it resync (but my imac is old and slllllow and I never use it) and I have had to do it once on my apple tv.
I think it does have a bug or two that needs to get sorted but as long as it works on my phone Im happy.

No one is disputing that. But do we NEED to have EVERY story, EVERY joke, EVERY new byte posted about it EVERY 5 minutes...no, we dont.

Ohh right. I had that issue too. A power cycle fixed it as well.
Forgot to mention that.
