Geebus this phone buffered the music fast enough on pandora to last me all the way to work in the train tunnels. It always cut off or cut in and out on my 4.

The speakerphone/microphone quality has definitely improved. The screen size change is not drastic but being able to operate my phone with one hand, priceless.
i noticed this too.

The number follows the company's earlier announcement that it had taken over two million pre-orders for the device in the first 24 hours of availability. Apple also announced today that over 100 million devices have been upgraded to iOS 6.
“Demand for iPhone 5 has been incredible and we are working hard to get an iPhone 5 into the hands of every customer who wants one as quickly as possible,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “While we have sold out of our initial supply, stores continue to receive iPhone 5 shipments regularly and customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough iPhone 5s for everyone.”

Apple's five million iPhone 5 unit sales seem to fall short of many analysts' expectations. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster last week predicted sales of eight million units based Apple's announced pre-order number, calling six million units the worst-case scenario for the company.

The iPhone 5 launched in nine countries last Friday, and will be debuting in 22 more countries this Friday, September 29.
...
Missed analyst expectations of 8-10 million though. And stock drops over 2%

$685.74 - Down $14.35 (2.05%)

What are those analysts smoking? 8-10 million?

Riot at Foxconn probably didn't help either.

Apple supplier halts China factory after violence

BEIJING (AP) -- The company that makes Apple's iPhones suspended production at a factory in China on Monday after a brawl by as many as 2,000 employees at a dormitory injured 40 people.

The fight, the cause of which is under investigation, erupted Sunday night at a privately managed dormitory near a Foxconn Technology Group factory in the northern city of Taiyuan, the company and Chinese police said. A police statement reported by the official Xinhua News Agency said 5,000 officers were dispatched to the scene.

The Taiwanese-owned company declined to say whether the factory is involved in iPhone production. It said the facility, which employs 79,000 people, will suspend work Monday and reopen Tuesday.

Foxconn makes iPhones and iPads for Apple Inc. and also assembles products for Microsoft Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co. It is one of China's biggest employers, with some 1.2 million workers in factories in Taiyuan, the southern city of Shenzhen, in Chengdu in the west and in Zhengzhou in central China.

The unrest happens at a critical time for Apple. The fight started days after the launch of the latest iPhone model in the U.S. and eight other countries. The phone quickly sold out in most stores in the U.S. and Apple has a three to four-week backlog of online orders as it ramps up production to meet demand.

4S was 4 million. So 5 beat it by 1 million.

Didn't you read your own post above?

Battery life will be worse than the 4, because the 4s was worst than the 4.

More power needs more juice.

For other smartphones, LTE was reported to drain more battery than 3G.. Not sure if that's the case for the iphone

Love this 5!!!!!

Incredibly fast. Screen is the perfect size. Phone fits in the pocket so much better....being so slim is fantastic.

Screen seems more precise when tapping than the previous phones.

As fast as the iPhone5 is, not just LTE but Wifi. If they put these chips in the next iPad, I'll be buying it as well.

I used to be an avid believer of Zagg screen protectors, but the feel of glass is sooo much better.

I just get a case that comes up above the face of the screen - yes yes, it adds slight bulk, but i don't have to worry about putting the phone face down.

I took off my shield on the 4s and had a few minor nicks, but nothing major. I think its coming off.

I've only used power support screen protectors and have been happy with them. When applied properly and paired with a good case, their screen protectors can last a long time.

Zaggs last forever and I have gotten pretty good at putting them on, but they take away from the feel of it.

I understand, but I should have also mentioned that I use an anti-glare screen protector on my iPhone and iPad because I absolutely despise the amount of glare on these screens. When outside at certain times of the day it's hard to see anything on the screen because of the amount of reflection.

If they followed that analysis of 100% growth year after year then the next iPhone should sell 16 million openin weekend, next after that 32 million? Yea not gonna happen.

Hell, 50% would be 6mill then 9 then 13.5

I just don't see that happening given supply constraints and cost of the units and carrier charges etc etc

If I'm watching a movie, editing photos in the dark or dimly lit room, I find no problem, but many times, even in my home, I have to constantly turn, rotate the damn thing to avoid seeing reflections. Have the same problem on my iMac 27" at home and my unibody MBP's at work. I know I'm sacrificing some of the color saturation in doing so, but it's what I need to do to keep my sanity.
