I actually went with an Android phone instead of an iPhone as a conscious decision to be objective (not a fanboy) but I've stopped trying to fight it...Everything else I have is apple, might as well have apple across the board.

^^ Might as well.

I dont see it as being a fan boy, they make products that really work.

My mother in law drove to my house, and waited for the UPS guy to show up, so I got my phone waiting for me.

I think mine is doing better as well. Unfortunately my office is a signal blackhole so it's always searching for network, due to this my batt is at like 30% by 5.

I held one today! Brand new out of the box and still had the clear protective sticker on it. Though it did have nice scuff mark on it already. I guess some people are getting ones with scuffs and scratches on them out of the box, I think this was one of them.

It's pretty nice, didn't feel that different in my hand compared to my 4. If I decide the Lumia 920 is too big for me then I'll probably get this.....or the 8x

so what drains the battery more? LTE or wifi?

while at work, I'm usually on wifi, but I'm wondering if turning that off and staying on LTE with conserve the battery. and LTE seems faster than my company's wifi, too...

This phone feels completely different than my 4. Even my wife felt the difference, lighter thinner and and just feels right in my hands.

today I had 'regular' usage of the phone - i.e. not looking at it and admiring it every minute - battery is at 57% now, after taking it off the charger 14 hrs ago. pretty damn good.

Nope. Battery isn't as great on mine as the 4

But honestly that's probably because I never get to charge it in my car.

Damn I miss my music. The radio sucks and so does having to use a lightning adapter. I'm waiting for my Chinese knockoff to be made and shipped. eBay FTW.....lets hope it works.

Honestly though I like the lightning port. Much easier to plug and unplug; even my 2 year old niece can do it. Stupid 30pin was a nightmare to plug in the dark.

I messed with a co-worker's 5 and could not believe how light it was. Makes my 4S feel like a brick.

^It's not better. Lol

The 920 has a slightly better screen and a fairly better camera. That's it. Then consider the fact it's 29% thicker and 40% heavier then the i5. And oh yea the A6 is stomping those snapdragons right now.

Edit: Let's also not forget the fact that it's running a ****ing MS OS. Lol

What are you guys using for cases, if any, on your 5? I would just leave it naked but I have a 1 1/2 year old and she already cracked the screen on our ipad2 by dropping it (we have it in an otterbox now), so I want some kind of protection. Something slim and minimal but sturdy. So far I'm looking at these:
Amazon Amazon

I am just using a iPhone4 pouch at the moment, waiting for more cases to come out first. Amazon.com does have Otter's for the 5 for sale.

Yeah, the otter's just way too bulky and boxy for how thin this phone is. What is an iphone pouch? It didn't come with it, did it?

edit: never mind, I just saw you wrote iphone 4 pouch, not 5.

Apple had over a year left on Google Maps contract, Google scrambling to build iOS app
Apple's decision to ship its own mapping system in the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 was made over a year before the company's agreement to use Google Maps expired, according to two independent sources familiar with the matter. The decision, made sometime before Apple's WWDC event in June, sent Google scrambling to develop an iOS Google Maps app — an app which both sources say is still incomplete and currently not scheduled to ship for several months.

APPLE DECIDED TO END THE DEAL AND SHIP THE NEW MAPS

As rumors and leaks of Apple's decision to announce the new iOS 6 maps at WWDC in June filtered out, Google decided to respond with a display of strength — the search giant hastily announced its own mapping event just days before Apple's event. Dubbed "the next dimension of Google Maps," the event was designed to showcase new technologies like low-level aerial 3D photography and Street View backpacks — a chest-thumping exercise meant to highlight Google's significant head start in collecting mapping information, but which offered very little in the way of consumer-facing features.

For its part, Apple apparently felt that the older Google Maps-powered Maps in iOS were falling behind Android — particularly since they didn't have access to turn-by-turn navigation, which Google has shipped on Android phones for several years. The Wall Street Journal reported in June that Google also wanted more prominent branding and the ability to add features like Latitude, and executives at the search giant were unhappy with Apple's renewal terms. But the existing deal between the two companies was still valid and didn't have any additional requirements, according to our sources — Apple decided to simply end it and ship the new maps with turn-by-turn.

"WHAT WERE WE GOING TO DO, FORCE THEM NOT TO CHANGE THEIR MIND?"

The reports were validated earlier today by Google chairman Eric Schmidt, who was quoted by Reuters saying "what were we going to do, force them not to change their mind? It's their call." Schmidt also said that Google had "not done anything yet" with an iOS Google Maps app, and that Apple would ultimately have to decide whether to approve any such app anyway. "It's their choice," he told Bloomberg. Google Maps VP Brian McClendon has also repeatedly said he's committed to offering Google Maps on all platforms, indicating that an iOS app will eventually appear.

Interestingly, Apple either didn't know or didn't expect that consumers would find its new maps to be deficient — when iOS software VP Scott Forstall introduced the new mapping system in June, he called it "beautiful" and "gorgeous" and stressed that "we're doing all the cartography ourselves." The company was forced to adopt a different tone last week as complaints about the maps spread, saying the "new map service is a major initiative and we are just getting started with it." The company also promised "continuously improving" maps, and said that "the more people use it, the better it will get." Indeed, some of the more egregious errors spotted by users are already getting fixed, although New York's bridges are still distorted in Flyover and the Statue of Liberty remains missing.

"THIS NEW MAP SERVICE IS A MAJOR INITIATIVE AND WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED WITH IT."

Ultimately, maps are just one more front in an increasingly high stakes war between rival ecosystems as PCs give way to mobile devices. Apple and Google both plainly understand that phones and tablets are most powerful when used in conjunction with sophisticated cloud-based services, and both seem determined to own and integrate the entire experience — ownership that will lead to dominance in the next era of computing. A few customers getting lost along the way seems to be acceptable collateral damage.

Just bought myself a Case Mate - Barely There case. Still waiting on it to be delivered. I'll post pics of it once I have it.

I also got the Zagg HD screen protector last night. Not really noticeable when the screen is on and no orange peel but it doesn't cover the whole front glass, which is really annoying.

yeah that is annoying. I went with Steinheil crystal clear on my last phone and loved it. A couple of the cases I'm looking at come with a screen protector though so I'm holding off on getting it. Gonna check out the Case Mate now...

This is so far the best screen protector that i found and used: http://www.clear-coat.com. They sell them at the local mall in Lancaster, PA. They charge $35.00 with installation and that includes the front, back and side and comes with lifetime warranty (they do charge $5.00 for labor to replace under warranty), $20 just for the front. Most people that look at my phone don't even notice that i have a protector on.

I charged my phone Saturday night at 9pm. Left it sit turned on until Monday morning. It used about 15%, it was pulling from wifi, not LTE.

just took my phone to the Apple store to buy AppleCare. They just did a cursory once over with the phone before I was able to buy it.

\I don't remember...did they do this with the 4s? I know I was able to buy Applecare for my 4 without having to have it inspected...

I bought a Griffin case (clear back, thin silicone squared off sides).
It keeps the phone's "thin size/feel".

I bought it as a temporary case for 20 bucks until I figure out what I want to get. Downside is the clear plastic back scratches EXTREMELY easy...but not the outside...but rather the INSIDE. When I slid the phone into the case for the first time the edges of the phone left substantial scratch marks on the clear plastic.

apparently there was a problem in their unlocking system and people that shouldn't have been eligible for unlock were still getting approved, probably fixed it by now

That is one of the reason's I'm not completely sold on the 920, it very well may be too big for my tastes. I'll try it out when it comes out and if I don't like it, I'll return it within the 30 days and probably get the 5. It does have a pretty sweet camera though.
