Apple: iPhone News and Discussion Thread
That's somewhat true, there's not really huge changes in software versions. But Android, being open, is a lot more customizable and you are able to flash operating systems until you find the one you like. There are more options available to keep you from feeling like you're getting the same thing over and over again.
Just found out...if you guys have AT&T with unlimited text messaging, or switch to unlimited...you can call and request unlimited calls from mobile to mobile phones of OTHER carriers at no extra charge.
Dad found this out and called me and I just called myself and made the adjustment. They made the change and backdated the change to the beginning of the month.

Because I dont come close to using my 900 minutes a month...and this addition I will most likely drop back down to 450 minutes a month and switch over to the 4gb data/tethering plan.
I'm still in debate about giving up my unlimited data...but I have never gone over 1.1gb in a month...usually average 780mb...
And if I get the tethering/hotspot plan it would be for my ipad....and I cant believe that thing uses THAT much more data.
Either way, they said its 4gb across the board for data....
oh decisions...

I think you have to have the 700 minutes to plan to get free unlimited mobile to mobile. I did this online when it came out but I have the next plan up. This plus the A List plan pretty much means I rollover almost all my minutes.
You only have to have unlimited texting.

There's the whole iOS getting "old" too.
If you have your iPad out and about you more than likely don't have your laptop...
Most people that will use mobile hotspot are people with iPhones and wifi iPads out and about and want the iPad to be online.
The idea of using an iPad as a hotspot is backwards.
my guess is AT&T is looking at browser user agents and if they see a non iPhone user agent from you and you don't have a tethering plan then they know that you're using mywi. mywi could spoof the iPhone user agent but then you'd always get the mobile version of sites on your laptop.
I'm curious how they get around that without screwing up the way sites are displayed on laptops....

They can have a list of approved browser strings besides just mobile safari. I hate that I have to explain every intricate detail to you.....
Also browser strings say which OS you're using like Wndows 7, iPhone, iPad, OS X, etc. with the Platform Token.

you'd probably still get caught. because AT&T records show you only have an iPhone without tethering plan with them but now it's showing up as an iPad and you don't have an iPad with AT&T soooooo.....
