Apple: iPad News and Discussion Thread
If I'm understanding this correctly they're saying that the 4.2.1 capable version of cydia should be available when iOS 4.2.1 is released so if you go through the normal JB routine after the iOS is made public then the version of cydia should be the right version and therefore you shouldn't have to patch it.

Yeah I saw that! It's fuckin ghey! Whisker's you're gonna be pissed! Maybe I'd understand if it was muting all sounds but just system sounds is ridiculous. Now you have to jump through hoops to lock orientation where it used to be really easy.
I skimmed through the whole article just to read what they thought of the switch change, I didn't read the rest.

The "working" JB is out. but it's tethered which means everytime you want to reboot your device you have to plug it back into your computer and run redsn0w again. I'm gonna wait for a tetherless JB.

If you reboot your iPad without plugging in and running redsn0w then it won't be JB when it comes back
So every time you want to reboot your device like when prompted to by Cydia then you'll have to tether it to your computer and run redsn0w.
I'm sure they're working on tetherless version so I'll wait

To buy the cheap 16gb wifi ipad tomorrow, and get the new one when it comes out or just...that is the question I ponder...as I once again sit here and enjoy using my mother's ipad.
The JB community has come through as I hoped they would! There's a utility called "No Mute" which brings back the orientation switch
