I useful feature in Jailbreak is the UAFaker SBSettings Toggle. It lets you switch the browser User Agent string between iPad and Firefox. Sometimes a site throws up a crappy generic mobile site but it you switch the User Agent it'll render the desktop version on the iPad
Saw an awesome use for the iPad tonight. I took my wife and parents to dinner at Michael Symon's Lola in Cleveland (for one of the most amazing dinners Ive had.)
Anyway, they bring an iPad to the table and it has custom loaded software running on it. They use it for the wine/beverage list. You browse the drinks and then pick your selections. The waiter than collects the iPad and returns with your drinks.
Pretty sweet.

I finally went out and bought another iPad after having returned the first one i bought on release day. I forgot how cool this thing is. I also bought a case with it this time that really makes a huge difference as far as functionality goes. And they've definitely fixed the dropped wifi signal issue. Won't be returning it this time.

Seems like a bit of a waste, you could make drink menus for a few cents each or you could buy $500 iPads. must've been a ritzy place and they wanted to seem uber hip.
hmmm where have I seen that before!?
There was this one company that thought of it first and they even demoed it before the original iPhone was released. They had a table that was multi-touch and you could order right from the table, split the check and it'd calculate your tips and everything....

Did the waiter still have to ring in the order in or could you order yourself from the iPad? You sure it was custom software and not a PDF displayed in ibooks? Was there animations or any nice moving visuals?

When you selected the drink it just added it to a list on the pad. The waiter collects the pad and gets the drinks.
They did it to add to the dining experience and make it more fun. And it actually was more fun to look around at the wines and stuff and then select what you wanted.
Yes it is a very upscale place. Michael Symon is one of the iron chefs. You go for a full dining experience, not just to stuff food in your face.
I just found it a cool use for a iPad that i hadn't thought of. And im sitting typing this on my moms iPad. Damnit i want to get one.
I played around with an iPad for the first time this past Monday. I loved it and now I want one really bad. Man, that thing is neat.
I'm guessing there is no cheap place to buy it from, right? Amazon is like $600 from a 3rd party and I see no discounts advertised anywhere. Maybe I should cash in the $50 Best Buy Reward Zone certificate I've had for months.

Honestly at this point I'd wait for the next version. The 256mb RAM is annoying as fuck. I don't have the page refresh problem at all on the iPhone 4 that I have on the iPad.
When was the iPad released again? Was it April/May/June? I can't remember for the life of me.
My work gave me one, but I'm considering picking one up for the wifey and I to use at home, but at this point I think I'll just stick it out for the next version as well. I'm secretly hoping that if the iPhone makes its way to verizon in January, that the iPad will follow suit with data connectivity as well.
I've been using my work issued iPad at home, but it has a completely separate iTunes account than what I use on my iPhone and I don't want to mix and match stuff between the two, and I sure as hell am not going to buy applications to put on my work iPad.
