OH and in regards to that stupid core i5/i7 debate, first off i7 laptop chips are very power hungry and get crap battery life and I don't see Apple offering them except in maybe the MBP 17 but not as the default processor. Another reason Apple doesn't have these chips yet is cause there's a fight between nvidia and intel that's effecting apple the most out of all the laptop makers. Apple's standard is intel CPU with nvidia 9400m (ion) graphics. Well Intel is saying that nvidia doesn't have the rights from intel to use their integrated graphic chips with new intel Core iX series chips. So Apples choices are to go discrete graphics again in all their lineup or use Intel's integrated graphics that come with the Core i5 processor. But if they did that that would be a step back in performance also there's a new feature in Snow Leopard called OpenCL that uses the floating point parallel processing power of the graphics processor to speed up certain activities. If they went with discrete graphics it would increase performance but cost more and get less battery life. If the went with Intel it would get worse graphics performance than the previous generation of MBPs and I don't think it supports OpenCL.
But Apple has been known to get special treatment here or there but I don't think they'll come together for steve, Nvidia and Intel are at each others throats. So Apple's kinda screwed right now so give them some time to figure it out. my guess is they go the all discrete route again but then have worse battery life, unless they put a better battery in. UNLESS this new Nvidia tech does what it says it does, then Apple will just wait for this tech to get ready before updating their laptop line.
So I'd expect them to debut this new tech with Apple laptops

As we approach CES we wanted to tell you about an upcoming mobile technology that we will be introducing in Q1. It is called NVIDIA Optimus technology. NVIDIA Optimus technology works on notebook platforms with NVIDIA GPUs. It is unique to NVIDIA. It is seamless and transparent to the user. Its purpose is to optimize the mobile experience by letting the user get the performance of discrete graphics from a notebook while still delivering great battery life. Look for more details next month.

I wouldn't expect anything at macworld but nvidia should be announcing the technology expected to be used in the next gen MBP sometime this month and I'd expect Apple to be right there with them to make the announcement of their new laptops, or Apple might go first and announce their laptops with this tech and then nvidia will follow up a couple days later with more info, that's usually how it goes.

I'm never wrong. Apple won't be attending MacWorld this year hence why it's free, cause no one cares except Mizouse

Why would they announce the iPad two weeks before MacWorld if they were going to attend the show?

I've heard it through the grapevine that nvidia will be announcing their optimus technology in the next couple days This is the tech I expect to power the graphics on the next version of MBPs

^ One step closer towards a MBP
I was at the Apple Store last night since I was having trouble installing Adobe CS4 (no graphics card ftl) and dude suggested I invest in a MBP, told em I was waiting for the update this Tuesday. He gave me a look and simply said, "well you have your plan and I can't knock that."

I want to get a new laptop but since I know what's coming by the mid or end of the year I keep wanting to wait. The next gen Core i3/i5/i7 chips are supposed to be much more power efficient than the current ones. The current core i's when put under alot of stress can actually use more power than the core 2s and intel has to do some tweaks to get power consumption down. Plus I want to wait for the mobile versions of nvidia's new GPU called Fermi. It's supposed to be sick nasty at GPGPU computing!

TechCrunch reports that popular video site Hulu is working to bring its content to the iPad, despite the lack of support for Flash content on Apple's new tablet device.
One rumor I've heard from an industry insider is that Hulu is working on an iPad-friendly version of its site that should be ready by the time the iPad hits the market. Hulu itself is still vague about its plans. When asked directly by Om Malik whether Hulu has any plans for the iPad, CEO Jason Kilar recently hemmed and hawed about how he is a big believer in mobile, but wouldn't confirm or deny anything.
The report notes that porting its content to a non-Flash player would not be completely trivial given Hulu's investment in having created a unique Flash-based platform, but the company would be "more than capable" of making the transition. With Hulu's videos already encoded in the H.264 format used on the iPhone and iPad, whether or not to develop a Flash-less player for the content appears to be more of a business decision than a technical one.

Yeah...fuck the haters.

Go Giants
So can I watch Hulu now on my Iphone?

Funny another company changes things to make sure people get access to their product, sounds like it will benefit ALL in the long run. Though to mention Hulu is about to start charging for the service.

That's what it costs to make, there are many other aspects that bring their cost much higher, transport, marketing, salaries, benefits.

I love the part where the article says Hulu is vague on its plans but they are working on something...
That's like saying Honda is working on a V8 but is vague on when it will be released and if ever.
Whatever, iPad is what it is...those who want it will get it. Those who are skeptical on what it can deliver will continue to be like that until the product launches and sees what it can truly do for them in their respective lives.

Where's that article about that Hermes luggage that was the cost of a Porsche?
And yeah, I agree with you. Overpriced devices. But, people buy 'em in NA in droves.

I think it's an interesting device but not a device that people NEED. It doesn't fill I void in functionality. When people ask what it can do and you tell them then they'll say well can do that already with my laptop and my phone why do need to spend yet another $500 for this device? what does it do that I can't already do with my laptop?
It MAY do a few things better than a laptop but for most people it doesn't fully replace a laptop and I've never heard people complaining about their laptop not being portable enough (unless it was a huge beast). People are going to discover that this device isn't necessary and in an economy like this dropping $500-$700 on a device that isn't necessary and doesn't do anything you can't already do on your phone or laptop is going be a tough sell.

And at the end of the day, it's truly a nice-to-have thing. Sure, if I really had an extra few hundred, yeah (okay, no...I refuse to ever own anything Apple )...That being said, there will be an initial wave of people who will still buy it.

I think the device would make a great portable photo portfolio... very pleasing way of presenting photos to clients, guests, etc. will definitely be trying one out first-hand when its released.
