Apple: Hardware News and Discussion Thread
that mouse is pretty cool. I've been using my trackpad on my MBP for so long now that even if I set it down on a desk, I wouldn't want to bother with a mouse, it saves time between clicking and typing, but i can see that mouse being nice for someone with a full blown desktop.
I am very bitter about anything Mac. Someone at work needed a new Macbook Pro and budget is tight so they had to find a Macbook in inventory. Since I *can* work with a PC I had to give up my Macbook Pro.
I can tell you that I hate Lenovo Thinkpads. They perform absolutely horribly in so many ways.

This new 27in iMac is nice! I like the screen! I'm kinda in the market for a new screen. Someone needs to to make this as a display only and sell it for $600 or less and I'll buy it.

My guess is they will be introducing the i5 into the Macbook pro soon.

The Mac Pro is also due for an update shortly as well.
A relatively good resource pointed out to me by someone else on the board (who it was escapes me right now):

The 64MB Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0 for Snow Leopard requires OS X 10.6.1, while the 36MB Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0 for Leopard requires OS X 10.5.8.
So I got into macworld 2010 Feb10-13 for free
What day do you think they will have the announcement for all the new goodies??

Apple is no longer attending MacWorld hence why it was free this year. It's going to be lame. It's going to be a trade show for Apple products in which Apple will have no official presence.:theghey:
Supposedly they'll announce the iSlate (iTablet) b efore then, not sure though

Buddy of mine has a 27" iMac, loves it. I have the previous generation iMac, love mine.
There were some issues with the new 27" screens though. You can get a lot more reviews on macrumors.

I've got the 27" iMac with an i7 and 8GB of RAM. haven't had any issues with mine.
I also heard issues of people having problems with screens arriving damaged, or yellowing. Haven't noticed the yellowing problem on mine, but I did get the warranty on it so I'm covered.
I'm running SL and Win7 via Bootcamp.

Looks like I'm going to have to buy a Mac. My wife has been brainwashed by the Apple marketing machine over the last 5 years.
It was inevitible, first the iPod, then the iPhone, now a Mac.
Looking at the MacBook Pro 17".
Any recommendations on specs? Will be primarily to work on photos and video. Probably Photoshop Elements and Final Cut Express.
2.53Ghz Intel Core i5 or 2.66Ghz Intel Core i7?
4GB RAM or 8GB RAM?
Base warrenty or extended AppleCare?

Core i5 should be plenty enough for you, I think. I may be wrong. Do you only have choices of 4 or 8gb of ram? No 6?
Since you will be spending over 2grand on your laptop I would suggest applecare. But see from someone who has a mac. My friends who have had macbooks, have had a few hardware problems here and there. But these were older models. So I dunno how reliable the new one is. But I would get it.

I'm really liking the new Mac Mini with the HDMI port. I haven't read all the specs on it yet, but can it play 1080p videos to an external display via HDMI?
