Safety Car
according to what I heard last week (before the LOSS to the Falcons), Mike was supposedly "safe" for the rest of the season, but even IF the niners somehow made the playoffs, there was no guarantee that he would have a job next season. After last night though, I'm not even sure he is safe for the rest of the season now. What a shame; its not really his fault that the team chokes away wins
But if he does get the axe, maybe Cowher would be interested next season? It is said he's close to returning?
I didn't expect San Fran to win or even go to the Super Bowl this year, but I fully expected them to make the playoffs; but come on, 0 - 5 in the worst division in the league? Unbelievable.

Been hearing today from Jason La Canfora that Singletary is supposedly safe.
Smith has to be the most inconsistent starting QB in the league. If you take away that boneheaded fumble and the just plain bad throws that resulted in interceptions, he played a pretty good game.... 300+ yards and 3 TDs. But, the reality was, he did fumble and throw 2 INTs. At least we're getting Crabtree involved and going deeper with VD, things I've been waiting for all season and excited for since before the season started.
Trying to focus on the positives.... but regardless, we're 0-5. I'd love to rub it in to all my smack talking friends who are Raiders fans if they lose to "the worst team in the NFL". But if we lose.... I will go absolutely beyond fucking ape shit.

Oakland isn't all that bad this year actually...they got themselves a running game and the passing game was coming along nicely when they benched Campbell.
Alex Smith is making too many stupid mistakes. I can't believe the fans were chaning "we want Carr"....there's a reason why he's a career backup

I don't care how good or bad the Raiders are around here, you're either a 49ers fan, Raiders fan, or a Cowboys fan (meh) and we occasionally have the fans who root for the Colts or something.
The "Battle of the Bay" doesn't happen in the NFL often, but when it does the smack talk comes to a boil. The result will serve as a reminder for the rest of the season who won, whether the other fans want to acknowledge it or not. It should be a good game either way.

I don't know if it's Palmer, Lewis, Bratkowski or all of the above but somebody needs to die! That was some of the dumbest shit I've ever seen :silvermad
Owens is the only one producing so good for him. Maybe a meltdown would be the best thing for this pussified offense /rant
Predicting an 8-8 season, 9-7 at best

I think I heard he's only interested in East Coast jobs since that's where he lives but ya never know.
Do the players like Singletary? I heard Vernon Davis talking about how he saved his career, etc. It seems like they enjoy playing for him
#652
Bengals have the same exact problem. So does San Diego (it was also quite enjoyable watching them lose)
#653
Good luck trying to coax Dungy out of retirement, I think he retired so he could be closer to his family, or that was why Cowher retired. They both had losses in their respective families, and well I think Gruden enjoys being a color commentator too much to go back to something as stressful as coaching.
The players like Singletary, and yup, Vernon Davis didn't do shit until the season after Singletary set him straight. He was utilized as a run blocker too much before then. If anything, Singletary is better than the last two coaches we had. What still remains to be questioned is that our ex-OC was handpicked by Singletary, yet got fired midseason..... Jimmy Raye was quoted as someone who "followed orders"

Was announced that Smith still had the starting job for now. Also apparently Carr even walked onto the field, helmet in and everything, but Smith walked up to him and said something like "dude, I'm still in the game" so back to the bench he went
#655
Maybe I missed something...did Singletary tell Carr to go in and then Smith told him to forget it? Or did Carr just think he needed to replace him?
#656
After the fumble, Singletary was talking to Smith, not yelling but maybe in a not-so-nice tone. This was during the "WE WANT CARR" chants. Pretty sure someone told Carr to get warmed up and put on his helmet around this time. Then Smith said some more things to Singletary, and he ended up being put back in the game even though Carr never played a snap.
And yeah.... sports fans are the most impatient people ever. Not saying Smith has done much to win everyone over, but I don't see Carr doing much and the other Smith on the roster looks to be the same.
Would be a different story if Shaun Hill were still on the team though... he's playing his ass off right now.

don't even get me started on that guy.
I'd be much more content and quieter if we had some W's
and oh yeah, forgot to mention... Vernon Davis gave Singletary his vote of confidence for Smith. At one point it was VD and Smith trying to convince the coach to keep Smith in.

I came in here just to say both of these things.... oh well. Favre made a nice move... all for nothing
That said Santonio Holmes has been out of football for a long time now, and he's on a new team so if anything the chemistry with Sanchez shouldn't be any than Favre's and Moss'. I don't know why you guys are so surprised by the drops, Braylon Edwards is Mr. Dropped Pass.
