the Maloofs aren't doing that good, the Palms is lightweight going under but you are 100000000 times right about the player thing. They dont want to pay for a good player so there team is always going to suck.

funny that they had to go w/ kings to avoid the KC royals, and now they probably have to change back to royals because of the kings, lol.

curious how they'll be receptive SoCal would be of the kings(/royals). Seems like a tough move just considering they rivalry they had with the lakers last decade. Maybe the name change will help.

So now when Demarcus Cousins becomes the starting Center for the Lakers, he won't have to sell his house.

Well they will be in Orange County and I think those people will be more receptive then a lot of L.A. people but again they don't play a good brand of basketball and until that changes I don't think it will matter where they are. Its not like they don't have the money they just don't have their priorties straight when it comes to their NBA franchise.

Cousins is very talented but unless something changes with his attitude he wouldn't be the type of player the Lakers would go after post Phil Jackson. I say that because there aren't too many coaches if any out there that can handle difficult players and maintain a winning team.

As far as the team goes, if they suck, that sorta ends the argument right there. But as far as an OC/IE/San Diego person embracing a team as their own, there will be plenty of people that will embrace them or at least spend the money to see other teams at the Honda Center.

What a defensive clinic on the Nets by the Bulls...Rose guarding Deron FTW. Williams only got 5 points.

Rose has topped all the "top PGs" he's gone head-to-head with this year.

Great article on both Rose and Thib, who doesn't get enough credit for how well the Bulls are doing.

I think alot of comments on here are ill advised about the kings and the maloofs.

Nothing is built over night, we had a great stretch with Webber and everything up comes down. We are not a huge market like LA that can afford to always have high paid players, so it takes longer for us to generate money for big names.

I watch every single kings game and have since a child, I am already crushed with the move and its going to kill me more when next year the Maloofs drop money on a big name.

They have said a number of times on local radio shows that they have been waiting for this coming year to sign a big name a drop some major cash. With our potential players and a big veteran name who knows what will become. Then every one here will want the team back.
Look at at the thunder, turned around in just a bout one season after leaving Seattle. Just saying......

^^I hear ya man. I wish they'd stay for the sake of the fans.

But....there definitely is the business side of things. For me as a fan of the NBA, I'd rather see them be successful there. Rivalry with the Lakers is one thing on the court, but I don't at all wish the demise of a team.

I think some things are out of their control of the Maloofs. For instance, sure, they can do what the fans want and put up the money for an expensive roster. However, I don't think they are in that same galaxy, money-wise, as Mark Cuban or other owners. So they truly do assume the risk of putting money into something that they may never get rewarded for. There were no guarantees regarding an arena, no matter how rabid the fan base was.

So, if Anaheim is willing to assume the risk by giving them $$$, a more modern venue, TV deals, and the population needed to support it, you have to pretty much go with what'll make money. Its the American way.

It sucks as a fan of basketball...I didn't want to see Seattle lose a team and I don't want to see the Kings leave, but if there is no support in the halls of government, no matter how hard the fans scream and yell, its tough for a business owner to justify staying put.

Anyways, I'm with you guys, but I can see why the Maloofs are going to do this....and if I were you, I probably wouldn't be a fan anymore, just like I dropped the Rams after they left LA.

I completely agree ^^.

I am not mad at the owners, I realize this is a business and they are business men first.

But man, I have never had to trade teams. I have been loyal to the SF Giants, Niners and Kings through thick and thin, I have to have a Basketball team, how do I just stop following a team that I know everything about?

The maloofs aren't totally to blame but they shoulder most of it. While the Maloofs might not exactly the same as Cuban their family net worth is over 1 billion and if they made their NBA franchise their priority instead of lets say the Palms, or any of their other business ventures they it would be more successful. They fact is the Kings aren't their first priority and I can't blame the people or politicians of Sacramento for not wanting to pay for a new Arena because except for a short period of time the Kings don't put out a good brand of basketball period. Team owners can effect trades and other moves to make their team better and the Maloofs just don't do it. I don't expect them to be any better when they move because of the Maloofs style of management.

^ I've come around. I think Rose should not only be awarded the MVP. But COTY, 6th man, Top executive and ROTY. Without Rose, would there even be an NBA this year?

IMO, Rose's greatness isn't limited to one sport or just sports in general. I just read that he's off to Libya to impose a no-fly zone....

I read he was going with Jonathan Toews. They also plan to stop at the West Bank to negotiate a peace treaty.

Next up, Japanese nuclear reactors?

Cops bust knife-wielding man at Staples
LOS ANGELES -- A steak knife-wielding man held police and security guards at bay for nearly half an hour at the Staples Center before the Los Angeles Clippers' game Saturday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, authorities said.

The center's general manager, Lee Zeidman, said the man, who was not identified, walked into the venue through an employee entrance. He said security officers tried to block his entry, but the man was brandishing the blade.

"He tried to enter the doors and we tried to secure him and stop him ... he pulled out a knife at that point and told our officers in no uncertain terms to get away from him," Zeidman told the Los Angeles Times on Saturday.

The man ran to the arena floor, where he was met by 25 security staffers who surrounded him until police arrived.

He eventually made his way to the visiting bench, where he spoke to three police officers with their guns drawn from approximately 20 feet away.

Zeidman said the man made no demands or offer a motive for his actions.

"He was talking a lot of gibberish, making a lot of veiled threats, and nobody could really understand him," Zeidman said. "There were no specific demands. He told us: 'Just back away or else you're going to get hurt. Leave me alone. I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to get whatever I want.'"

Police shot the man with a beanbag gun and detained him after he made a move toward a tunnel leading off the court. He was placed in handcuffs and escorted out by police.

Officer Norma Eisenman, a Los Angeles police spokeswoman, confirmed the man's arrest and said an off-duty officer reported the incident, but did not release other details.

Spectators with VIP access to the 12:30 p.m. PT game had begun filing into the arena, but were evacuated once the incident began. Players from both teams watched the drama unfold on a TV outside the Cavaliers' dressing room before they were instructed to return to their locker rooms.

"That was crazy, man. There aren't too many knife standoffs in Oklahoma -- not that I can remember. So it's a first for me," said Clippers All-Star rookie Blake Griffin. "I was sitting in here next to [DeAndre Jordan], and Randy Foye came in and said: `Yo, somebody just pulled a knife.' I was like, `What?' And then they explained the whole thing. We were trapped in here for a while. But both teams had to go through it, so it didn't really put us at a disadvantage."

The court was reopened to players, media and arena employees 18 minutes after the man's arrest. The incident did not delay the start of the game.

Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro and his Cavaliers counterpart, Byron Scott, requested extra time for their teams to warm up, but were turned down. The Clippers went on to a 100-92 victory.

"It was a weird day, period," Scott said. "You had things happen throughout the day, but you've just got kind of put it in the back of your mind and play basketball. And I think both teams did that."

The Los Angeles Kings were scheduled to play the Anaheim Ducks at 7:30 p.m. local time, also at Staples Center.
can't fans wait after the game to shank somebody.
