I'm so glad Manny is gone. Sure he can do well when he is on fire at the plate, but that hasn't happened for quite a while now. Plus his defensive skills are something that are yet to be desired, just now Posednik (LF) just made a great catch in foul territory taking out some fans in the process, Manny wouldn't even have gotten close to that ball. He is where he needs to be, in the American League. Bye bye Mannywood!!
Sidenote: Another reason why I'm glad he is gone is now is that I don't have to see all the Manny fans wear those stupid Manny wigs at the game, good riddance!

about Manny being a ChiSox. It's interesting and sad that on week they retire the number of one of the best hitters and CLEAN players in Big Hurt, they acquire a cheat and diva like Man-Ram.
Oof.
Well, here's hoping he can get Sox the Central pennant.

While I agree Manny's injuries the last couple months have looked fake, I think he'll mash in Chicago to get a better contract this winter.
He actually put up very good numbers while in LA.
And he was never a good outfielder, you guys should've expected that going in.
CLE: .313/.407/.998, 1 HR per 15 PA
BOS: .312/.411/.999, 1 per PA 17 PA
LAD: .322/.433/1.012, 1 HR per 17 PA

That doesn't solve some of the pitching problems from the bullpen that has made me go ape-turd...but, hey...it's some progress.

Just because they may have been "good guys" doesn't mean they didn't take steroids.

More or less, the cheats fit the bill...look at their behavior, the way they duck the questions on testing...
Then, you have the ones who I believe are clean who are openly fine to testing.
And oh, to Gywnn...and also add in players like Paulie Konerko in there.

Not plausible.

You look at it as cheating, but they don't. Those who took/take steroids don't do it so they can win, they do it so they can play. This may be a game to you and me, but to them it's a career and a life. They do what they need to do to keep playing as long as possible and to make as much money as possible.
You think steroids wouldn't have helped your sacred Cal Ripken Jr. avoid injury all those years while becoming the iron man?

I still don't know what heroes of mine from the 70's you're talking about though.

No, I'm not dumb enough to say that every player in the league does steroids, but it seems that people's thoughts and reactions are that only a select few of the "mean" ballplayers (A-rod, Clemens, Bonds) are the only ones that juiced. That is almost as dumb as thinking that every player juiced.

Aroldis Chapman made his second appearance for the Reds last night and bettered his debut 102.7MPH pitch by throwing 104MPH He also has a 90MPH slider and got his first win.

Simple, I use an all or nothing approach. My thoughts in post 741 explain further as to why I feel this way.

I would easily let those who have taken steroids into the hall if their numbers reflect admission.

Well, still have my reservations about Manny being a ChiSox...but, at least he's not hurting the team. 7 for 16 since joining and the Sox are 7-0.
