Stupid Hendry. Stupid Hendry giving Zambrano the ace contract and then shooting himself in the foot for every other true ace that became available. Stupid Hendry for trading away good players (like DeRosa). Stupid Hendry for signing free-swinging no-plate displined players like A-Ram and Soriano.

Stupid Hendry for prolonging the drought. Stupid stupid stupid.

Nice pickup for the Bravos, I'll miss his defense.

The Cubs are definitely in rebuilding mode, they just have a few more bad contracts and past-their-prime players that need to go.

Cardinals pick up Pedro Feliz & cash for minor league pitcher David Carpenter.

Meh, not a great addition, but they needed serious help at 3B.

The guy knows his baseball. That's about it though. He's still a dipshit lol...

The next 6 weeks of baseball will be interesting for NL central & east divisions.

Go Mets in 2011.

Chicago may still have a chance.
That AL central race always goes down to the wire.

Has anyone been to Target field? I don't hear anything about that stadium. I've seen it on TV and it looks nice. Minneapolis/St.Paul is a great city, clean and friendly people.

I still don't get why they traded Ludwick. Seems even dumber now with their offense slumping.

100% agree. I have an app on my phone and I get to listen to WFAN on my commute. I actually think he is a great addition to WFAN. Probably one of the smarter baseball guys.

And 2011 will only be good if there are some changes. Not sure if you caught them this morning, but they broke down the line up an on paper there is not a lot missing. I think the 2010 METS are one of the most under-performing teams in baseball. I hate to say it, but I think Omar did a good job in putting the parts there, but the managers and coaches did not do a great job, and the players have not come together as a team at all. It didn't help that Bay didn't do shit and Beltran was out a lot longer than expected and is still hurt.

They need to solve that bullpen problem...but, yeah, it's not over. Still, I like how they like to make things hard for themselves.

This one's a fake but it's still pretty cool.

I love the stunned look of the catcher and outfielder.

I think the Twins September schedule is much easier than Sox Sept. schedule, but you're right, you never know.

And yes, I have row 1 season tickets to Target Field - I've been to about 20 games so far this year. It is absolutely fantastic, especially considering the dump we came from. It was recently ranked #1 baseball venue, and the fact that the team is winning makes it all that much better.

If I were new to this country, this probably wouldn't be my first choice in places to live, but MSP really is great.

^Nice.
Does Target field play like a hitters park or a pitchers park? it looks a bit neutral, but do balls jet out of the stadium?
Our Citifield is huge and i love the fact that it is a true pitchers park.

Im not too crazy about Jerry. I like his style better than Willie's though.
Omar did a decent job and also some mistakes. Castillo, Perez, acting a fool in public(Adam Rubin, firing Willie in CA, etc.) did him in. I have to say though, our farm system that was bad is now actually pretty nice. Mets have a lot of young talent at all positions...

*Sigh. Well, there's that universal saying, "there's always next year."

Frankly, we're so deep in pitching that we've had no room for him (never thought I'd say that). We just moved Leake to the bullpen so there's another spot gone. Why they aren't trying Aaron Harang in the bullpen I'll never know...he's done as a starter as far as I'm concerned, but I digress.

I know they're still trying to get him to develop his secondary pitches, but he's been lights out starting and in the bullpen at AAA

Piniella to step down after Sunday's game

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...=.jsp&c_id=mlb

By Bailey Stephens / MLB.com

08/22/10 11:51 AM ET

Sunday's series finale against the Braves will be manager Lou Piniella's final game at the helm of the Cubs, the club announced on Sunday.

Piniella will step down after Sunday's contest because of family issues. Third-base coach Mike Quade will take over the team for the rest of the season.

"When I previously announced my intentions to retire at the end of the season, a primary reason for my decision was that it would allow me to spend more valuable time with my family," said Piniella in the announcement. "That time has unfortunately gotten here sooner than I could have ever expected. As many know, the several weeks since that announcement was made have been very difficult on a family level, requiring two leaves of absence from the club. While I fully intended to manage this club the rest of the season, a family situation at home now requires my full attention."

The veteran skipper, who had announced his intention to retire after this season, missed several games earlier this season to be with his mother, who is reportedly in declining health.

Piniella compiled a 316-292 record over three-plus seasons with the Cubs. In 2007-08, Piniella became the first Cubs manager in 100 years to lead the team to consecutive postseason apperances.

"Lou helped raise the bar here for this entire organization, and for that we'll be forever thankful," said Cubs GM Jim Hendry. "We understand he needs to be with his family and respect his decision to retire at this time. We salute his tremendous career and wish him and his family long-term health and happiness."
Man....the Cubs really killed his desire for the game.
