Although Austin Kearns replacement (Chris Denorfia) is ready to be an everyday player, I think we'll miss Kearns' power. Felipe Lopez was okay but he can be lazy every once in a while. And his defense was pretty crappy sometimes (14 errors I believe). That's one thing Clayton will help right away.
I think Ryan Wagner will be good for them eventually. Jim Bowden messed him up when he was a rookie by rushing him to the majors two months after drafting him ( ), but I'm a firm believer that the change of scenery will help. (Just like it helped Brandon Phillips to get out of Cleveland) I think he was just frustrated.
Anyways, just wondering what you guys think. Who do you think got the better deal?
I guess we'll see with time though...

Those RP's better rack up the Holds. I thought Felipe was a surprise. I always thought Kearns would get traded but before Wily Mo. Yeah I heard Steve Phillips on ESPN (ex Met GM) rag on the Reds.

Well, the ChiSox go up against the Tigers tonight for a lovely start of a 3-game series. Time to see what the White Sox are made of...

GO TIGERS!
I see that ESPN has got Wed. and Thurs. games, but here in Chicagoland it's blacked out and I'm stuck with Harrelson and Harrelson Jr.

I'll look forward to when the ChiSox play your Twins, yeah?

Yeah, it could go either way I guess. Lopez was a surprise to me also. I think they took advantage of Kearns' heightend trade value thanks to his first healthy and productive season in a while.
I heard he was pretty well liked in the clubhouse also. I'm not going to pretend I know the guy, but from the 15 minutes or so I talked to him and Dunn at a bar he seemed like a cool guy (we talked about farming of all things ).
And I think it will be interesting to see these players switch from a hitter's park like GABP to a pitcher's park like RFK and vice versa. It seems like Kearns' power and these new relievers will suffer the most.

I'm so pissed. Lester was available in my fantasy league. So was McCann but I figured Johjima would have more power. At least I hopped on the Braves wagon and got Laroche. Now he'll promptly tank.

But I played baseball with one of Kearns' cousin's when we were younger, and then against him in state tournaments for one of my select teams when we were both in high school. So we talked about that while Dunn hit on my then girlfriend

If Wakefield goes on the DL, any word if Jason Johnson will be his replacement in the rotation?? I read he's been hurting for awhile and they might wait until Clement and/or Wells comes off the DL, but I don't know....
Anybody know something I don't?

The Red Sox did not offer an official update on Tim Wakefield’s condition but the Globe has learned from multiple sources that the knuckleballer has a stress fracture of the rib cage.
Wakefield, who was not available for comment, is expected to miss from three weeks to a month and is expected to go on the disabled list retroactive until Tuesday.
Lefthander Kason Gabbard, a 29th-round draft pick in 2000 who was 9-2 with Double-A Portland, is expected to be called up to replace Wakefield and start Saturday vs. Seattle.
The Red Sox are now going to take Wells with them to the West Coast. Boomer will pitch a side session Friday in Seattle and will pitch another simulated game Monday in Oakland.

There were smiles and fist bumps all around after David Wells completed a 42-pitch, three-inning simulated game today. The plan is for Wells to pitch a side session Friday, another simulated game on Monday, and after that, who knows?
Most likely one rehab assignment, but there is increasing confidence around here that he might give the Sox 10 starts down the stretch. Which, of course, would be a huge boon to the ballclub.

It's funny how the Sox will wait on some of their propects (like Lester, Papelbon, etc) before bringing up to the majors, while they throw some of 'em (like David Pauley) into the mix from Double A...
Gabbard is from AA Portland (SeaDogs) too...

Seriously, dirtdogs is the easiest/quickest way to keep up on Sox news... You just have to check it for about 3 minutes a day to know what's going on...
I told my boss about it, and now he'll ask if I saw stuff on it yet at work (I always answer no)

I bet Wickman was glad to get out of that hell hole.
And we couldn't get Arroyo his 10th win today I partly blame Jerry Narron for not pinch hitting for him with bases loaded and 2 outs in the 6th (or 7th maybe, I forget) It's hard enough to score runs against the Mets, not to mention hold them to two runs until the 10th.
We don't need to waste a bases loaded opportunity that late in the game with the game tied. We stranded way to many runners today but still should've won
Sorry about the rant. That felt good

I think he's just a pain in the ass... Why else would you cut a guy who is batting .300

Happened last year too and the ChiSox won the division and then the series?
It's not time to and panic yet.

The manager admits to challenging him to a fight. Real professional. I think the sinking ship designation might be accurate.
