Connelly isn't being bought out, wouldn't make any sense. He has a year left and the money wouldn't come off the books for this season anyway. He's being sent to the minors to give a few other stiffs an opportunity.
(sorry, lol)

the st. Louis blues have agreed to a deal in principle with defenceman wade redden to a one-year $800,000 contract. Redden cleared waivers on thursday and was immediately bought out by his former team the new york rangers.
The sizzle in the Steak
I'll bet Redden excels with the Blues.

Yup, he's not a bad D-man at this stage if in the #4-5 role. He'll slot in nicely with the Blues...they look really good this year. If they learned from last year's ousting by Sacramento, they have the potential to go far in the playoffs.

I'm surprised Deano didn't pick him up for that little coin....considering Mitchell being out for a month or so.

The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to multi-year contract extensions with President/General Manager Dean Lombardi, President, Business Operations Luc Robitaille and Head Coach Darryl Sutter.
The new contracts for Sutter and Lombardi are four-year deals.
“We are ecstatic that we have kept our leadership team in place both on the hockey side with Dean and Darryl and on the business side with Luc and remain in a position to continue competing for the Stanley Cup for many more years.
"They have all done a fantastic job in their respective areas and they have put together outstanding leadership teams. They collectively are a huge reason our franchise is enjoying the success we are enjoying. Now the challenge is to stay on top of that mountain,” said Governor Tim Leiweke.
Lombardi was named the eighth general manager in Kings' history on April 21, 2006.
As the club's President/General Manager, he is responsible for all hockey operations decisions, including all NHL player-personnel moves, directing the professional and amateur scouting staffs, negotiating all contract matters and overseeing the Manchester Monarchs.
Robitaille, who in 2009 was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, is in his sixth season as Kings President, Business Operations.
Sutter is in his second season as head coach and his first full season after being hired on December 20, 2011. Last year he helped lead the Kings to the franchise's first Stanley Cup championship.

Guys, I'm really offended by this post. After losing wstevens and jonesi because of a handful of knuckleheads relentless badgering of their, ahem differences, we really need to rally around domcha in his time of need. I'm proud of the way he and Brian Burke supported GLBT causes and walked in parades together.
Let's all be good sports shall we? We can ill afford to lose domcha, after all he is the glue that holds hockey talk together. :gheyhug:

What I learned today at AZ: domcha walked hand in hand with Brian Burke in a GLBT parade.

Hey Statler, what do you think your birdies chances are for tomorrow versus the champs?

The Kings are a very good team.

I mean, Kopidor goes out and you slot in Brad Richards and Coach Carter as your top 2 centers...how many teams have that sort of depth? Very impressive.

My money is on we raise the banner, and lose the game.......unless the great enigma "Gagne" shows up.
I'll be waking up tomorrow to a plate of pancakes to kick of the day right
....and is this guy gonna be in goal for the Hawks?

Kings at an immediate 2 man disadvantage for 1:17.
Not a good start. 0-1 with a few seconds left on the 5-3.

Frustrating game for me. Give up 7 powerplays and a 14 shot advantage. Hopefully they just need some more time to get used to each other.
I shoot people
damn, the sucky Anaheim Ducks are up 5 -2 on the Canucks

I feel you. The Avs game was just as bad. In the second period where they had 12min of penalties and two double minors and thus gave up 2 goals. You can't win doing that. I think total for the game they had 8 penalties.

Too early to hit the panic button after just one game, but sheesh what an absolute debacle. It really shouldn't shock anyone who's payed attention to their off season moves, but boy did this opening night expose all of Detroit's weaknesses: getting a bit long in the tooth at forward, relatively undersized and with the departure of Lidstrom and Stuart are suddenly inexperienced on the blue line. Howard is merely an avg goaltender without support. I wasn't a fan of the Quincey re-acquisition and am still not.

I heard Illach was at Comerica last night plotting his next big off season acquisition for the Tigers.
