Colorado blew two games the end of last week and almost blew it on Sunday as well. It is obvious as good as they are as a young team they are definitely not ready for a playoff push. I still am hoping they can somehow manage to make it but my hopes are not very high.

Don't be sad dom, your Leafs once had a .17% chance of winning the Stanley Cup and they pulled it off.
http://www.cracked.com/article_19152...you-think.html
The Detroit Red Wings were pummeling the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-0 in a best-of-seven series. Pulling a page from the playbook of the self-sabotaging owner in Major League, Leafs coach Hap Day benched his best defensemen as well as a future Hall of Famer and replaced them with two unproven rookies who had combined for a whopping 9 points during the regular season.
Halfway through Game 4, the move was going approximately as well as you'd expect. The Leafs found themselves down by two goals. Because it's difficult to fire a coach in the middle of a game, Day stuck to his guns and kept the gang of unproven jerks on the ice. And that's when the Leafs suddenly began playing out of their minds, coming from behind to win the game and the entire series.
Mathematicians have looked at the history of games in which a team trailed by two goals and the history of seven-game series in which a team was down three games to none, and calculated the Leafs chance of winning at that moment at 0.17 percent. Herb Brooks, the coach of the U.S. Olympic hockey team that year, calculated his squad's chances of winning at a more reasonable 10 percent. This one just comes down to the fact that it's much more fun to believe in miracles at the height of the Cold War than ones pulled off by teams named after foliage.

Nhl gms meet to debate player safety, rule change proposals
BOCA RATON, Fla. -- NHL general managers emerged from their first day of meetings optimistic they would have at least one rule change to make.
After hearing a presentation from disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan on player safety issues, the GMs broke into smaller groups to examine rule change proposals.
A new hybrid icing rule and eliminating hand passes in the defensive zone were both met with support from the seven GMs who discussed them.
For a rule recommendation to be made to the competition committee, at least 20 GMs must be in favour of it.
The managers will continue to meet Tuesday and Wednesday.

Eliminate the hand pass in the D zone?

I say kill the trapezoid. This experiment has proven to be worthless.
I dare say bring back offside pass. Eliminating it has proven to be the opposite of what was intended....instead of creating offense, it opened the door to clogging up the neutral zone.

I don't think anyone outside of the pens organization would be scared or have reservations about hitting Sid

Your thoughts on these proposed changes...
– The re-installation of the red line, and the return of outlawing the two-line pass.
– The installation, rather, of a “Bowman line” — named after Scotty Bowman — at the top of the circles to regulate long passes rather than the red line.
– Modifications to icing rules.
– The allowing of “bear hug” type holding along the boards, to reduce big hits.
– Small shoulder pads for skaters.
– Video review for goalie-interference calls.
– A crackdown on penalties for too many men on the ice.

^^ Since when is making the playoffs falling into a "black hole"?
It's generally considered a "good thing" to make the playoffs.
However it is a "black hole" to just miss the playoffs: No playoffs (obviously) & a piss poor draft pick to boot!

The Avs Ducks game last night was intense. I was on edge pretty much the entire game but they pulled it out.

Crosby's back Thursday against the Rangers. I'd say if he can survive that game he's probably OK, IMO the Rangers are the toughest team in the League right now.

Chicago is no barometer...but, they beat the Rangers twice this year and I caught both games. While the Rangers hit, they are not in the same caliber of St. Louis. They are one mean team...and believe me, I'm not showing them any extra love.
