Doughty? I thought I worshiped at the feet of Crosby?
Ok, its both.
Gotta love David Steckel and his 65% face off %. He'll alone make the Leafs 30 ranked penalty killing better.
And concuss a few opponents at the same time.

No, he won't. Given all the Shanabans, there will be no more hitting.
You don't tackle in the NHL, you hit. And the NHL is getting after those that use their arms intentionally that try and take out someone's head.

Stop trying to compare the NFL to the NHL. NFL is about one play for maybe 10 seconds. And clearly leading with your helmet, having your head down, is something that can be prevented.

Makes zero sense.
And hence, as ridiculous as my snark about the no-tackling in the NFL due to the elimination of helmet-helmet...

It's not the same thing...but, I remember the hot topic back a few years ago when the League implemented the obstruction rules to stop all the clutching and grabbing and people saying "Oh, no...here we go. We'll have high-scoring games that are 50-48..."
Look now. We have tons of 2-1 games, shutouts, and etc. still. What am I getting at? The players, systems, and the game will adapt. Always have...So, changing the culture of aiming for the head (sorry, is it a culture?) is just adjusting the way a player plays but does NOT mean hitting will go away.

Hitting will go away because players will be afraid of getting a plenty, suspended or fine, for what has always been made a clean hit. Headshots should been gone, and players have made a change already. But to say a hit like Hedman gave Crosby should be met with a penalty, suspension or fine, will make the game suck and be an All Star like event.
I don't see how shoulder-to-shoulder hits and contact in the corners are going to be gone with the trend of suspensions lately.
I had 2 games on the tube last night where they played physically still...I saw no indications of a "girly" game...
Agreed to disagree,
What about the shoulder hits? The one that where to be shoulder to shoulder and some how become shoulder to head shots??? Not intentionally, but because a player moved? When players start getting suspended and/fined for those, that's when the game start sucking. Because they'll be afraid of the off ice outcome.

BTW - My son started Myte hockey last weekend. 7AM ice time on Sat and Sun mornings FTMFL!!
You'd think they'd save the more pleasant times for 6 year olds.

If anyone gets TSN, may want to watch tonight.
Don Cherry has stirred up another hockey controversy with comments he made on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada on Thursday.
Cherry used his "Coach's Corner" segment to blast people using the off-season deaths of three former NHLers as evidence fighting should be eliminated from the game.
"You people that are against fighting, you should be ashamed of yourselves," Cherry said. "You took advantage of that to make your point on fighting. You should be ashamed of yourself for doing something like that."
Cherry then singled out three former players who made careers out of fighting on the ice for being among those trying to link the deaths with on-ice thuggery.
"The ones that I am really disgusted with ... are the bunch of pukes that fought before: Stu Grimson, Chris Nilan and Jim Thomson. (They say) 'Oh, the reason that they're drinking, (taking) drugs and alcoholics is because they're fighting.' You turncoats. You hypocrites," Cherry said.
"If there's one thing I'm not it's a hypocrite. You guys were fighters, and now you don't want guys to make the same living you did."
Grimson, Nilan and Thomson will all be on TSN's "Off the Record" tonight at 5pm et/2pm pt to discuss the issue.
An encore presentation of the show can be seen at 6:30pm et/3:30pm pt on TSN2.
Nilan disputed Cherry's charges.
"I've never said that - that because guys fought in the league that they have a problem with drugs and alcohol." Nilan told Bryan Hayes on TSN Radio 1050 on Friday morning.
Nilan has been very open about his own battles with substance abuse and said it had nothing to do with his career as a hockey fighter.
As for Cherry's comments, Nilan said it made him angry to hear that from someone he considered a friend, especially because he considers the allegation untrue.
"I've never come out and said there shouldn't be fighting in the National Hockey League," Nilan told Hayes. "The National Hockey League has made it very difficult for fighters to fight these days. There's a temperance movement. I believe the NHL wants fighting out of the game… I said, if they really want fighting out of the game, they should take it out of the game.
"I don't believe that ... I have no problem whatsoever with two guys dropping their gloves, responding to a challenge from one of the guys, or a teammate responding to something that happened to one of his teammates ... I don't believe they should take fighting out."

Going to see the Kings farm vs the Jets farm tomorrow. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense for LA's AHL affiliate to be in Manchester NH, that's got to make it tough when you need a quick call up.
Never been to an AHL game before, I'm curious to see how the action is.

It should be a good time either way. Free tickets and since I don't care about either team, it doesn't matter who wins. On top of all that, technically I'm getting paid to go and that's tough to beat.
LFG RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not one of those crazy parents that think their kid is going to go PRO.
ADM team is part of USA Hockey
American Development Model.
It's the "new" hockey development program.
Selected Myte players are on a team and the team travels to other rinks to play other ADM teams in tournaments.
...oh and I coach this team too....so if USA hockey sucks 12-14 years from now you can all blame me.

So Stu Grimson (The Grim Reaper) is now a lawyer And a very well spoken lawyer at that.
Looks like Cherry picked the wrong former goons to slander because Grimson, Nilan and Thompson now look to be suing Grapes

^^ Well the chances of his injury were 50/50 as to what they would be......because.....
In the NHL there are only 2 injuries upper or lower body injury.
