So, who ordered the Amstel?

So, which Bruin ordered the Amstel Light?
June 28, 2011|By Steve Silva, Boston.com Staff, Globe Staff

Remember the big Bruins bar tab from the infamous celebration party at Foxwoods? Now the marketing folks at Amstel Light want to know which player ordered the lone bottle of Amstel at Shrine nightclub that night.

The Stanley Cup champs racked up a four-hour bar tab that according to the nightclub totaled $156,679.74, and included the now-famous gift of a $100,000.00 bottle of "Midas" champagne in addition to adult beverages like 35 Jager Bombs, three bottles of Captain Morgan, nine bottles of Goose MG, and136 Bud Lights.

There was also one mystery order for an Amstel Light and now the company wants to know which player has "great taste in light beer" so they can reward him with a supply of Amstel Light for his 4th-of-July or Canadian Independence Day party.

On CSNNE's Sports Tonight, Bruins enforcer Shawn Thornton was asked who may have ordered the Amstel Light.

"I really wish I knew," Thornton said. "I don't think anyone on our team drinks Amstel Light." Thornton went on to say that he's going with Shane Hnidy as the Amstel Light lover.

So will someone reveal himself and claim his prize? Stay tuned as the Bruins Stanley Cup adventures continue.

Waldorf must be too busy hucking tomatoes at the theatre showing TF3...

There could be yet another twist in the trade that sent Ryan Smyth from the Los Angeles Kings back to the Edmonton Oilers. a

The trade was initially held up because Gilbert Brule, who the Oilers were originally sending to the Kings in the deal, was injured and therefore unable to be bought out upon completion of the trade.

Forward Colin Fraser was included instead, but sources tell TSN that there are now concerns being raised about his health and the ability of a buyout to be executed on his contract.

The Kings could petition the league to void the deal, but if that move was successful, they would have Smyth's contract back on their books, limiting any moves they can make in free agency.

Heard about that early this morning.... meh....Tambellini is still a scummy used car salesman.....and the Oilers team doctor is "Dr. Nick"

What the Kings "get" in return was really meaningless.....the point was to dump Smyth's salary on a sucker team.

Don't doubt Poo!

Then my Leaf source called me back and while they wouldn't deny Parise, they also wouldn't deny Stamkos or Richards...

Tonight, as I write this I do believe Richards will end up in Toronto...that is my gut.
I would NOT mind Toronto making an offer for Stamko's and losing 4 first rounders. IMO Stamkos is worth it. He's from juts outside T.O. A man can dream

@ Richards. I really hope he doesn't end up in Toronto. Most are saying Tampa or NY. No idea how he ends in in Tampa though. Not with Lec, St.Louis and Malone already making 20 mill combined.

Still waiting for that Poo Maple Leaf mega deal to come to fruition.

I'd wager Richards ends up with the Rangers...but, then again, who knows. This market is going to be skewed thanks to the teams that can't make the minimum salary cap number.

Still can't believe the Miami Panthers gave Kopecky $3M per year...

Yup, teams that need to hit the 48 mill minimum are going to cause havoc.

I thought the Rangers days of spending foolishly on free agents was over? We'll see. Philly could be a player as well.

Well, you have your goalie of the future in Reimer and the D looks decent with Dion there.

If there can be a bit more pop added up front, the Leaves have a shot. It's not like they are the Flames who look to be in trouble again.

So, Philly would need to dump more salary if they sign Brad...? Or do they have enough to fit in his probably asking price of $5-$6M per season?

Apparently he has deep pockets, a love for a city of Buffalo and the Sabres and isn't concerned about financial loses. The perfect owner.

Not sure, but they keep coming up. They were at the cap, moved out 11 per year and added back 6 right? So I think they have some room....

Got it. I'd wager though, that the teams that are mentioned the most also are likely not the destination.

So, if everyone keeps saying Philly...who knows...maybe it's Buffalo or LA instead.

Well, if it is a cap-friendly deal, I would not say never esp. if your team has the ability to fit it in.

I'm not disagreeing with you, so don't get outraged. Just saying.

^^ Only one guy gets outraged around here......it's this guy who believes you can throw just about anybody in goal to win a Stanley Cup......perhaps you heard of him?

What are the Kings going to do with three 1st line centers?
If the Kings did not trade for Mike Richards....I'd be more of the line of thinking they are going for Brad.....but with Kopitar and M. Richards....there is no need for Brad.

Most analyst's are saying he's a changed man. Much more mature. Then again he went to the KHL for the $$$ only 3 years ago. So is his head finally in the game? after all these years of it being about him?

Once a primadonna, always a primadonna.

I don't think he will be able to adjust to being 2nd or 3rd fiddle to Malkin, and Crosby ( Crosby comes back and does not end up like Kariya)
