On Saturday's game, in honor of Ryan Smyth's (mullet) 1,000 NHL game, the Kings players rocked the mullets during pre-game warm-up.

I watch it once a week...Bought the Blu-Ray of their Cup run. It's glorious in 1080.

But, I would not rule out any team that has the current best d-man in the League and greatest Captain ever.

You can probably preorder the one for the Leafs' 2010-2011 run on Amazon now.

Don't worry, Burke is holding on to Kaberle for dear life because a desperate team like the Bolts will likely dangle Stamkos for him...

You watch. Any day now.

I mean, Bowman would've wanted Kabs for Kane...but, the Hawks have an abundance of puck-rushing D-men. You know...

Ya, Kaberle and 18 first round draft picks. Which I'm sure Leaf management would have no problems parting with.

Post Burke: Cup-Winning Coach's Job am SAFE

From TSN...

Despite their recent stretch of poor play - the Leafs have lost eight of their last nine games - general manager Brian Burke has said that head coach Ron Wilson's job is secure.

Speaking to the Toronto Star on Sunday, Burke defended the performance of his bench boss.

"If you watch the game films and show me one thing Ronnie did wrong, then come back and ask me about it. The answer to your question is yes, the coach is safe," Burke told The Star at a sports management conference that he was co-chairing.

Toronto started the season well, winning four straight games and recording a point in its first five. But since then, the Leafs have only one win over a span stretching nine games. The Leafs lost their last two games in a shootout, with Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Sabres especially upsetting considering they held a two-goal lead late in the second period and gave up the tying goal with just seconds left to play.

Toronto's offence has been anemic of late, having been shutout twice while producing just 15 goals in nine games since the four-game winning streak to open the season.

Toronto's top line of Phil Kessel, Tyler Bozak, and Kris Versteeg has been particularly ineffective. The trio has just 11 goals combined on the season and only two goals in their last five games, all Leafs losses.

Burke suggested that if the media is looking for someone to blame for the team's recent struggles, it should look at the players and their lack of production - but not the coach.

"Did Ron play poorly last night? No. Why don't you guys focus on the players who played poorly last night instead of questioning the coach," Burke said to The Star. "We have players who aren't performing at a proper level on a nightly basis. That has to change."

Burke went on to say that he's willing to make a trade if it makes sense and upgrades the talent on his team, but he won't just move players as a response to the recent string of losses.

"If I could improve the hockey team today, I will," he said. "We have cap room and we have budget room. If we could have added a player last week, we would have added a player. I don't base player transactions on our record."

The Leafs are next in action on Tuesday in Tampa Bay before taking on the Florida Panthers - the only team Toronto has beaten in their last nine games - on Wednesday.

He's right, it isn't the coaches fault. All you have to do is look at the fawkin lineup to see that.

Burke has no one to blame but himself.

Hopes Lou's available when Burke gets the axe in 2 years.

Not a bad second choice but Lou > *

Seriously It doesn't take a genius to build a good team. Two good examples of this are Pittsburgh and Chicago. Their formula was to suck for a long time and draft high. Any idiot can do that. Which also explains why both Pitt and Chicago have new GM's after even after taking those high picks.

But guys like Lou and Holland sustain good teams even after years of low picks.

But it takes an especially inept GM to trade away pick after pick in hopes of making the playoffs. Just so happens all these inept GM's somehow end up employed in Toronto. Which of course points to inept ownership.

/broken record

^ Well, to be fair, Hawks only had ONE 1st overall pick. Toews...the greatest player was drafted THIRD...behind Staal and Erik Johnson. There was also no consensus as to who would be 3rd overall because YOUR team's savior (Kessel) was reportedly ranked higher than Toews...

And Keith was drafted in the 2nd round. Seabrook was a 7th overall pick. Not Top 5. Sharp...stolen from the Flyers for a bag of pucks. Niemi...a no-name free agent signing. I could go on and on. Hjalmarsson...4th rounder. Versteeg...stolen from the Bruins for a bag of sticks...

Only thing you have is Kane.

The Pens...? Totally another story. I don't recall a team with so many top 2 picks in such a short timeframe...

Where did I say it had to be first overall? Your points are valid, but in the end you have a 1, 3 and 7 as the core of your team.... The Hawks built through the draft.

Without those players there was no cup to hoist. Point being you have to at least give yourself the chance to draft.

When can we start talking about Steven Stamkos in the same breathe as Crosby and Ovi?

Because right now, he's the best player in the game.

Read about how his workouts with Gary Roberts really helped make him break out last season...

He is on fire.

I'm sure that helped his game, (Roberts was hired by the Stars so he knows his stuff) but you can't teach that level of skill. And his shot Probably better than Ovi's.

And he wasn't even on Canada's Olympic team. Imagine him with Towes?
