I have no issue with physical play, I've watched hockey all my life. What I don't like is targeting of the head and cheapshots. You act like the Department of Player Safety actually does anything lol it's a joke
You can't deny that the whole series changed after Crosby got knocked out with that elbow to the head either. Pens were on their way to eliminating the Rags till that dirty play, and many non Pens fans have told me that as well

I have zero issues with hard-nosed play. Solid body checks are solid body checks...but, why is it Trouba is always borderline? Plenty of hard-hitting players who don't cross the line IMO.

Ok, I am not saying I like dirty play, I am saying the rules are the rules and none of the hits you guys are harping about have so much as gotten a 2-minute minor.

Trouba again with a head-hunting hit.
That said, lots to like with the Rangers game overall...happy for Breadman...congrats on advancing, cabby.

The reward for advancing...the Bolts. Yow...road to the Cup for Oilers and NYR are steep...very steep...
My pick: Bolts in 6 against NYR.
I'd said previously it's Nordiques in 6 against McDavid. Cup pick: Denver in 7 over Bolts.

You know...you're exactly like some hockey fans that just make me shake my head...I can't say ONE thing about ANY one player on the team you cheer and OMG...it's like I insulted the ENTIRE squad. Did you read my entire post? I like alot of the Rangers...happy for Breadman. Chill.
But...that said, I am not a fan of Trouba even if he was not on your beloved Blueshirts, okay? His hits are questionable and that's another keyword...it's borderline which doesn't need to go that way to have the same sort of wallop. He's a big strong guy...doesn't have to play that way. Kreider is also dogged and hardhitting do you hear me complain about his play? OH SHIRT...YUMCHA MAYBE ISN'T A HATER?!??
I have said I have no skin in this game. Relax. Not trying to pick against your team because I hate them. I just go with what I see on paper and as a hockey fan...yeesh. Canes were impressive all year and thought they'd be in the Conference Finals. But, I would never have picked them over the Bolts either.

Woah, hit a nerve? You keep acting like he killed a nun. He plays hard hockey. It has not been one thing it’s every time he makes an impactful hit. Until tonight I just responded no call no supplemental. Tonight was a simple check maybe you just have a blind hate of trouba?

You're the guy who said 'enough' about my commentary just above?
But, yes...to confirm, I don't like Trouba. I thought it was abundantly clear I wasn't a fan of Trouba's hockey-style? And how long have you known me on here? If I don't like something (see Apple, LeLakers, Deano-this-deano-that), I'm going to repeat myself.
Again, relax...my dislike of his play doesn't equate to me thinking your Rangers suck because it seems you're taking it that way. Review your my posts about your team and you should know I'm pretty impressed with them and their quick turnaround.

Man the Canes really shit the bed. Not being able to win a road playoff game and having that different stats home and away is awful. Then again also really hard to win a series with your second and third string goalie.

Definitely looking forward to it. In the west you have two of the best forwards in the game going head to head and in the east you have two of the best goalies going head to head. Should be two interesting series.

When did I say you said the Rangers suck? Never.
You keep saying Troubas hits are bad, If I disagree I'll keep saying so. As I said last night, even Melrose who absolutely hates the Rangers (blames them for his firing from the Kings) said it was a clean hit (last night)

One more takeaway...anytime we are rid of DeAngelo, it's a good thing.
Still can't believe the Canes signed him.

Though I'm picking the Bolts because on paper, they appear stronger, the battle in goale with Igor and Vas is going to be a marquee fight. Fox isn't quite there but him up against Hedman is another...
I think the factor for Rangers' success and advancing is finding a way to nullify Tampa's insane depth assuming the top 2 lines (like in most playoffs) wipe/cancel each other out. It will be entertaining.
The game tonight is not as close if at all paper. Avs have ONE JOB to do: And it's freaking obvious. I also believe Denver has the best home-ice because of the altitude adjustment. I would be surprised if Oilers return home with the series tied or up. Avs will hold home ice for sure.

I feel like we are playing with house money. They are at least 2 years ahead of schedule & getting this experience is great.
I am thrilled they are still alive and if they go in 4 I'll still be proud as hell of their season.
I'm not that crazy fan that thinks their team's sh!t does not stink. I know where the issues are and hope they can overcome them.

Entertaining Game 1...even though Oilers found ways to make it interesting, I honestly never felt like the Avs were going to lose their grip on the game.

I hate complaining about refs but really mcjesus being able to cross check a guy down and then sit on him for 5 seconds is a bit much.
That was stressful. You would think a 4 goal lead at 7-3 shouldn't be stressful but it was.

Crazy game, lots of goals. I'm shocked Edmonton was able to keep up in that altitude, the first game.
Senior Moderator
I think the game changed a bit too when Avs lost Kuemper but I think ultimately, the depth they have on lines 3 and 4 are the differences here against Edmonton? We'll see...Calgary won a nutbar Game 1 and we all knew what happened. It now comes to what Denver will do in Game 2 and if they can keep a lead if they get one. They proved they could today so, now, they need to do it again.

There are only 11 arenas that are higher than 500ft elevation and only 3 higher than 1000ft which are Colorado, Calgary, and Edmonton in declining order.
Could it have an effect as the series goes on possibly but not sure it will as much as say if Colorado makes it to the cup finals and New York or Tampa have to come to Colorado to play.

Game 1 Ranger/Bolts should be really fun too. The final 4 is always some good TV watching...

Which...leads me to the question: When was the last time a Cup Finalist had this many games where the opponents scored a TD and more on them (i.e. Edmonton)...? Like yikes, team defense, anyone? O_o

It is definitely a crazy play style. It might work against the Rangers but I definitely don't think that type of game stands a chance against Tampa. Both teams would get swept.
I have no idea why Colorado stopped the deep cycle game they played in the first period. There was nothing that showed it wouldn't continue to work. The run and gun for the entire game is not going to be a good plan for the entire series.

There was no sustained McJesus/Draisaitl plays in the Avalanche zone that I saw against Flames and Kings.
