Absolutely agree, 100% dirty.

He's still a key piece for us & most won't like it but Debrusk had it coming. If the refs dialed the situation back earlier in the game it may have been avoided.

As Coop's said, this is their first "adversity" in the season and well, yeah...may be too late to recover from it in a 4-game series.

That is often the case with President's Trophy winners as their season is too easy and so, they don't really work out any bad slumps...and now, it happens. And to make it worse, the new method of Round 1 makes alot of top seedings go packing.

Agreed the refs have let it get out of hand. Honestly, DeBrush could had been given a game for his hit as well.

Vigneault hired by Philly.

Surprised it took so long for him to get a team.

Jumbo deserved it, that hit was completely dirty. He got frustrated, lost his composure, and tried to take the kid's head off. Looking for another beating tomorrow night...Sharks lose 1-5 at least....

Well that was amazing to watch. Crazy Makar scored on his first shot, in the first period, of his first nhl game and it ended up being the GWG too. Kid is going to be special.

It has been a long time since I have seen a hockey fight where someone gets dropped this hard. That was a big mistake on that kids part.

According to internet stats he hadn't fought anyone since like 2010 season. It isn't like he goes around looking for fights. I mean the kid asked for it and it wasn't really a bright idea on his part. Ovi is like 40lbs bigger.

Team Deano Lombardinos sign McLellan as their new HC. They are not in cap hell. Nope.

Good luck with the LA Dinosaurs, Todd!

Such a crazy start to the playoffs. I gave the Islanders a chance to beat the Pens but never thought in a million years the Jackets would get more than 1 win in that series.

At least I've been away for the Pens shit show...I'd say their cup winning days with Crosby are behind them.

Actually picked the Isles over the Pens as one of the pics...historically, we suck against them. I didn't pick Tampa coming out of the next round on either of my brackets...but never would have guessed CBJ in a million years. At least the Pens don't have the headlines today...

It is what it is, the Pens played soft and disinterested all year, if they weren't going to make a run I'd rather it just end quickly to lessen my frustration and give me 2 months of my life back. It sucks having my heart ripped out of my chest, but after 16 and 17 I'm content I guess. I definitely didn't expect the Bolts to lose in 4, but dat President's Cup Curse never fails

I think the Pens should have kept Fluery and not let him go at the expansion draft. They knew there would be decline eventually from him and Crosby so they should have stayed in win now mode and gone for the next 3-5 years and not tried to plan for the future. I think that is one of the biggest things that hurt them personally. Murry was good in the playoffs for two years but he has also proved his is and never will be as good as Fleury.

The one saving grace of sucking all year is not having the stress of being in the playoffs.

Fleury had a 5.5 million dollar cap hit, he would have had to been moved either way. Him agreeing to go to Vegas allowed them to keep the team together between 16 and 17 and win a second cup. Losing him sucked but there really was no way to keep him, especially with a young 22 year old goalie that won you back to back cups. His moving on was a business and cap situation more than most realize

I think Murray was not the reason the Pens lost. Again, it's all about team structure. The powerhouse Pens that won 2-straight Cups had the team game to support a good goalie. You can't blame the tender for all the woes of a playoff series. Are we going to say just based on numbers that Lehner was THAT MUCH SUPERIOR to Murray? Nope.

But, categorically, the Isles smothered the Pens with their forecheck and sound defensive play and so, many of Lehner's saves were not from grade A spots. Does that mean he's better than Murray? Nope.

Again, I think the way we think of goalies need to change. Pens are fine with the kid. He wasn't the reason they lost.

When the game was 2-1 and Pens had pulled their goalie, who caused the ENG? Phil. He was outworked by Bailey and boom...empty netter.

Murray played his ass off, most of the Isles goals were 2 on 1's misplayed by the defenseman because his partner pinched. Lehner was less than impressive, the Pens didn't cause enough pressure in the crease or get in his way enough, he's mediocre at best

Yup. At least that's what I saw too.

And Moog is no longer here but this is where I'll point out nothing exposes a goalie more than team play and defense. Look at his Kings and how overrated Quick was. Mr. Splits was everyone's darling uber-goalie and now, without a team game and a plodding one at best, he sucks balls and is crap. Is he?

Look at the Oilers. Running goalie after goalie out of town. I think it's pretty definitive now...goalies and their saves are a byproduct of the system. Sure, there are exceptions but more than anything, you can't pin the demise of a team in 4 games because the goalie entirely. That's AT LEAST 240+ minutes (not counting OT) that the starter is playing...you telling me he suddenly lost all his mechanics and can't adjust in 240 minutes? Nope.

The only time I can recall a goalie single-handedly stealing a series in recent memory? Halak and his Habs when they took out the Caps.

Need some good long 7 game series, two sweeps are bad for hockey!

Personally, I'm hoping for the leaves to break through and want to see pajama boy play the isles for an epic conf finals.

We may get that between the Thrashers and Blues.

Toronnah and Bruins will likely go 7 with the world ending and the Leaves losing as usual.
