Which is incredible given we have the most man games lost in the league by a large margin, like I said, we're missing half of our regular starters
Well, it's a good opportunity to see how the farm system is. The Pens are still so darn competitive despite their youth...that spells some damn good future.
Given what the cap has done to the Hawks, I'm happy to see how the kids have panned out and basically Chicago not missing a beat.
Of course, players like Schmaltz, Kero, Hartman, Hayden et al...they all suck because they were not drafted by Deano and so, I should put down the bong.

Sarcasm about the Kings aside...they are perpetually Corsi darlings but, this is where I think that rating system is overrated. The Kings can have the puck for perpetuity but if they are not getting a clean chance to jump on a rebound from a shot from the point or whatever from dom's lover in his basement (Doughty), there is no play. This is why Deano's Kings can't score if their life counted on it. The other problem is that the League now (see Pens and even the renaissance in Leafs land) is all about speed and speed and skill. Dinosaur teams that piledrives a team into submission MAY work but as the last 3-4 seasons have shown since LA's last Cup...those times have passed.
My bias aside from the Hawks, no team in the League has been gutted like the Hawks in regards to talent. But, they remain competitive because they continue to focus on speed and skill...even when they did not win the Cup in those in-between years between winning it all...so, they still stuck to that formula. LA continues to go after prodding size and bruisers and well, voila...they can't score now. So, if Sutter and Deano do not change their ways, I suspect the Kings will continue to always be Corsi darlings but will never sniff the playoffs or Cup again.
But, what do I know? Put down the bong. Yes.

Yeah, I already said i don't think Crosby intended to injure Methot; the injury was bad luck. But Crosby
sure as shit intended to slash him across the hand, that was no fluke.
You're savvy enough to know that NHL players, especially team captains, know everything they say
will be pounced on by the media. Regardless of his personal opinion, Karlsson gave the appropriate
public consumption opinion.

FWIW, we all know Crosby has a temper and well, a "dirty" streak. This should not come as a surprise. He will never be a Lady Byng player...that's not how he is. I think if anything, McDavid has a better chance to be that generational player-type who will win the LB versus Sid.
...being all clean and gentlemanly was never in Sid's DNA. Heck, I've seen him at times with the Hawks and even Serious wants to strangle him for his antics but when they suit up for Team Canada, best of friends.
The stick between the legs happens more than you guys think. I know I'm not condoning what Sid did but I'm just saying, if they are to fine/suspend Sid, they need to do it for everyone else. But, we all know disciplining players in the NHL makes as much sense as a Trump speech.

Sid is far from a dirty player, he's well respected around the league. He takes far more abuse than he gives out, trust me. Does he have a temper? Sure, who doesn't? But he takes a ridiculous amount of abuse night in and night out, and takes 15-20 slashes a game and no one bats an eye. The Canadian hockey press had a slow week and decided to make something out of this because Methot's pinky got injured. It sucks that the guy got hurt, but shit happens it's hockey.

I'll give credit where it's due: Taco, congrats on the Oilers making the playoffs...Call me surprised and one of the guys in here who will eat crow. I did not expect them to make it into the dance.
Still, to be gifted McDavid...talk about fast-tracking it. The Avs, may not have such a fast return...nor the Yotes.

Hawks looked like a good, healthy playoff team.
Half the Pens lineup were minor leaguers, not using injuries as an excuse, but the Pens sure look like a shell of their former selves the last week or so
It's that blueline...it may be sustainable to coast through the regular season...but, in the playoffs, that won't work. Letang, Daley, et al must get back...the 1st round may be a street-fight as I suspect it'll be the Jackets and Pens.
Gosh, I think even ultra~lenient 'let em play' yummy cakes might call for supplemental discipline on that play.

Dude...unless your franchise is run with absolute ineptitude, I think missing the playoffs and signalling a start of rebuild/retool is a good thing in this draconian era of the cap. So, while I may snicker at the Wings because I hate them, I think you should take missing the playoffs in stride.
It's not like you're the Avs. Or the Oilers before they were gifted McJesus.

And it is sad to see a streak like that come to an end, who knows the next time we'll see a hockey team make it to the playoffs 25 years in a row... In this day and age, possibly never. But since the Pens are carrying the torch, I hope it does happen
...except the Caps choking.

That was a great game, and didn't mean shit for the Pens, glad that the Domcha's made it into the playoffs. Toronto fans were bragging on FB about beating the Pens, when half our lineup was sitting out
