Oh god. This oilers sharks game is hurting my butthole. In a major way.
the oil are losing 5-0.
There's no way they will win this series. They've scored four goals in 3.5 games. They won two games because of stellar goal tending and good defence. But apparently that broke down today. And yet there is still no offence, from anyone.
It became very clear in this game.

Oh for fuck's sake. Draisaitl got thrown out of the game. For spearing. And gave the oilers a 5 minute penalty. When they're down 5-0.

Wow...talk about reversal of roles. Now the Sharks look faster and stronger.
Again, the Oilers did what they had to and was to split on the road. It's a best of 3 now.
And FWIW, at least the Oilers WON a game in the playoffs this year...my Hawks? They are racing the Flames to the golf course to tee up with the Kings who will in the Cup.

You're right, they are going home back after this sodomy. But they can't do it. Because they aren't scoring. Think about it- Kassian WON two games for us. I love the guy, but common, we have much better talent than that and they simply aren't producing. The Sharks are a big team and although the the oilers are much bigger these days, I think the Sharks still have a decided advantage in that regard. Especially in playoff mode, when it's crushing time. The length of time that goes by, between SOG for the oilers is huge, and they are unable to get any rebounds either.

Cuz, if anything, a true rekindling of Edmonton-Calgary hatred in hockey is going to be great for the sport...I mean, with both teams kinda not in playoffs much for the last few years, that Battle of Alberta has kinda lost the effect from the 80s and early 90s, right?
I was kinda hoping Edmonton and Calgary would meet in the playoffs...

It's ok though- they did well this year. MUCH better than I could have ever expected. I was hesitant to think they'd have success this year. Every other year I thought they would be successful... And look how well that turned out
Plus McDavid hit the 100 point mark. The first oiler to do so since Doug Weight in 1995-1996.
Plus we got a consistent goalie.
Plus we learned what defence is again. It still needs work, but god damn, we went from having nothing to something.
Color me happy

Well, this is now no different than that "excellence" your Wings established after their Cup wins and post-Lidstrom etc. etc....Make the playoffs but do jack squat and say bye in the 1st round.
But, yes...it does suck. And yes, I do hope Stan Bowman makes some amazing trades like Deano who is never wrong and puts the Hawks back into contention.

Seriously, where is dom? He should be just as ecstatic as Taco to see his team IN the playoffs and actually making some noise against a team that is heavily favored against his.

Makes no sense...just when the Leaves get better, we have ZERO Leaves fans around. But, when they were sucky of the suck, there were heaps of them...it's like, they enjoy the misery and will not participate if the team has hope?

Speaking of BL, am I the only one who is mildy amused that Marchand is getting a dose of his own medicine and going bat-poop crazy against the Sens...? They've done a great job of driving him bonkers.

Even though the leafs lost yesterday, man, they are giving the Caps a good run for their money. I watched about half of yesterday's game and was thoroughly impressed with their near comeback. Dat Matthews kid has skillzzzzzzzz

The Craps just can't seem to put the Leafs away, I'm expecting that series to go 7

the leafs sure are doing better than the flames I was expecting them to pull at least one win out of that series.

Swept by a very game Nashville team...With 1st round exits to the Blues and now Nashville...2 teams Chicago used to beat in the playoffs, I wonder if this is changing of the guard in the Central.
Hawks' window looks like it is closing...the core is older now. We'll see what the brass does but the way the team is made up now, it's not going to go far. Good luck to the Preds and well, I'll be watching as a hockey fan and seeing if the Oilers can be the surprise Cinderella team. Or if the Caps can finally break their playoff chokes...or if the Pens can be that team that finally repeats in this awful cap era.
Good luck!

...but, you know...the Kings will win it all. And Deano is never wrong.
Oh wait...sorry, it's Blake now. Blake is never wrong.

Sorry about your hawks Yummy, but it's time for a changing of the guard in the West. The Hawks have played ton of extra hockey the last 6 or 7 years and have lost some key components. Interesting to see where the West goes from here. I'm expecting Anaheim and Nashville to have it out, the Sharks are looking good but tired, and Edmonton is showing it's lack of experience
